A Plague Upon Thee

Find someplace suitable in the center of the Northridge Lumber Mill in Western Plaguelands to place the Barrel of Plagueland Termites.
Provided Item:
Barrel of Plagueland Termites

Description

Now that we have the termites, take this steel reinforced barrel to the Northridge Lumber Mill south of Hearthglen--you'll find it to the west of the road that leads you up to the town.

Once there, place the barrel in the center of the lumber mill; find someplace suitable, like on a crate and then open it. The termites should do their work from there and make the mill useless to the Crusade.

3 guys in the mill/house
attacking one pulled 3, they are lvl 55 and i killed them all as rogue using a heal and blind.

1. Click on crate
2. Quest window pops that says to put barrel on crate
3. Click on white talk balloon in quest window. This is what puts barrel on crate
4. click on barrel after it is on crate get XP and quest window
5. go back to camp and get more XP

This took me way too long until i figured out how to do step 3 and click on talk balloon in quest window. No other way to put barrel on crate. There is no way in the game to place objects, but i tried to drop that barrel on the crate for a while. I feel really stupid now. HTH someone else.

This quest was fairly easy for level 57 Hunter. There were only several Scarlet Lumbermill workers around the area. Once you place the barrell on the crate you must stay there and release the termites by clicking on the barrell again to relase. Many have left after placing the barrell not realizing it has two parts and you actually finish quest right there.

If you simply go right around to the back of the mill, theres a cart, jump into cart then jump into mill. click on barrel place termites, click on termite jar. they even leave a handy step to get back out, You should not need to kill anything other than the odd spider and wolf.

Well if you actually wanna fight em, it will take forever, or for me it did.

starts off with 3 mobs, not bad then one of em ran off got another to come, same thing keeps happening. finally after i get that, then the 59 warrior type guy walking around found em, he throws you back..REALLY far which made me aggro one more, almost died but still not then i had to deal with the respawns inside the building.

point is if i wasnt a druid i woulda been gone, and it took forever.

I didn't have any trouble with this other than not realizing I need to activate the barrel separately the first time I went.&nbsp There were a few lumberjacks in the mill, but I was able to pull them one at a time with no trouble.&nbsp I saw a knight on one side, but no elites.&nbsp After killing about 5 lumberjacks I was free and clear to place the barrel at my leisure.&nbsp

Prowled in. Killed the 3 inside the lumber mill - one at a time, and finished the quest.

Very easy ending. The previous part where you collected was annoying. But well, time wise I suppose it was all worth it.

Soloable with a 52 warlock, although I died once, so keep an eye out for the 59 Knight who patrols around the mill. Other mobs are level 55 & 56. Clear your way to the mill, then get to the back from the right side. From there, pull mobs inside the mill one by one.

The place is at the back of a small encampment, there are random mobs 54-55 around, with one 59 guy patroling.

If you don't wish to fight your way through, then hug the west wall, theres a couple of easily avoided wolves and spiders.&nbsp I got to the back of the place without killing anything, I pulled one guy out, killed him, then got the pet to hold the other two while I completed.

First try as a 53 pally lagged and ran through "invisible" aggro, 30 seconds later I was dead before I knew what hit me. Rezzed tried again, went to the back jumped the barrier, and managed to only have to kill 1 mob. Easy few thousand xp.

I tried to do it 3 times as well. The barrel appeared on the crate and smoked but I never got complete and I still have the barrel. Easy to solo as 58 Warlock, so I will just have to try again later.
.....
Man I'm a dumb-ass...how did I get to 58th lvl like this? Once the barrel starts smoking you need to open it by clicking the barrel.....soooo it ain't bugged. 8)

Hi: I don't know if you folks are just nutso or if they changed this, but just approaching the mill I picked up five L56 mobs and then at the mill, as their health dropped, they ran off and brought me another three. I would say this is a VERY cautious approach, and a slow grind at that. Have to kill them off as you get near, clear a path for yourself. Don't just run up. When I rez'd with soulstone, I had 3 more on me and had to run halfway through dawsons (far) to get them off. This place is tough.

I just did this as a 53 warrior. Rode the mount around past all the scarlet dudes (most chased me) along the road untill you get close to hearthglen and jump down the back of the lumber place. Theres a few easy lvl 53 wolfs to kill.

Then the building is just there, look out for the lvl 58 dude who does a loong walk around past the rear of the building. One lvl 56 dude next to the crate who i agroed from a fair bit away. He was alot easier than I expected and didnt have to use any pots. Then there was a lvl 54 dude just a bit further away from the crate.
2 Dudes killed and mission accomplished. Dont forget to click the barrel once the termites run out.

I just did this quest alone, and it was quite simple. I died a couple of times because it's pretty much impossible to dodge the level 59 protector that just pops when you get close enough to the Mill. The way I did this successfully was to go to the back of the Mill, and pull one of the two closest gaurds in the Mill. After I pulled the first of three gaurds in the Mill, the 59 protector popped. Put my Voidwalker on him, killed the guy I initially pulled. All I did was DoT up the 59 and health funnel my Voidwalker. Took a while to kill him, but since he resisted most of my spells, only my DoTs were effective. After his death it gets very simple, pull the remaining two inside the Mill...go to the crate, open it, click on the barrel once it's placed, then turn in the quest at Chillwind Camp. I didn't die once I decided to go to the back of the Mill, that seemed to be the easiest entrance, and closest to the crate.

Did this on 7/7/06 without any problems.

Right click the crate, select "Place barrel on crate" then right click the smoking barrel to complete the quest and get the follow up.

Was fairly easy... went around to the right of the mill and picked them off one by one then crept into the side... lvl 58 Mage.
