Blast the nerve of Firallon! He couldn't sail a skiff through Crystal Lake let alone lead an entire fleet against us.

The Bloodsail Buccaneers will pay for their carelessness. Now that we know their plan of attack, we can counter before they know what hit them.

But why send the entire fleet to do the work of one brave adventuring party? <name>, take some of your most skilled comrades out to Firallon's landing spot and assassinate the Bloodsail leadership. Their fleet will sink soon after....

They can all be found in the ships Southeast of Booty Bay.

Stillwater is in the Easternmost ship.
Fleet Master is in the center ship.
Keelhaul is in the Westernmost ship.

The mobs are in very close quarters and they have a tendency to run at low health.

The Swabbies have a Gouge that wipes all aggro from the gouged target, so if you play a pet class, be wary of that.

Don't forget to look for the riddle that starts this quest: https://classicdb.ch/?quest=624 while you're on the ships you'll usually find it on the ship that has Captain Stillwater on it - the one that is by itself apart from the other 2 ships (though I'm not too sure if it spawns on the other ships, but my friends told me they also got it the same ship, so... =)

Don't go down too deep in the ships -- although there are a few levels in them, the named mobs for the quest are all only on their ships' second floor down, in the "back room". You'll only need to go down one staircase per ship.

Also, I found Cortello's Riddle in Fleet Master Firallon's ship (the center one), so it might be a random placement between the three ships.

Go to around 29,88 and you'll see a group of three ships. For those without cosmos, this is a small cluster of islands almost directly south of Booty Bay.

One interesting thing to notice is you _may_ be able to get a clear line-of-site on the boarding plank, into the mobs below decks. Just have patience - select a mob, and keep trying to shoot/throw/whatever. You'll end up pulling multiple mobs, tho. Kinda high aggro.

Hiya,

Not seen it mentioned above so I thought I would quickly add this in too. n one of the ships, I forget which one you can usually find a parchment at the front of the ship, lower deck (not bottom deck) which will start you off onto a sub quest which rewards you with a bag in the end (I seem to recall its a 16slot bag). Quest involes travelling to Swamp of sorrows, Duskwallow Marsh and finally Hinterlands Waterfall to complete the quest range (bunch of riddle clues to solve, the quest series is on here but I have forgot the name at the moment)

Captain Stillwater (gnome) is level 40 and on the Easternmost boat.
Fleet Master Firallon (human) is level 41 and he and his orc friend Ironpatch (level 42) are on the middle boat.
Captain Keelhaul (goblin) is level 40 and his tauren friend Garr Salthoof (level 40) are on the Westernmost boat.

The pattern is essentially the same for all of them: get on the boat, go downstairs, turn right.

Coordinates are:

Keelhaul: 29,88
Stillhaul: 33,88
Firallon: 30,90

For those of you without coordinates, there are three large ships anchored off the southern tip of booty bay. Looking at the large island southeast of booty bay, there is a smaller oblong island slightly to the west of this large island, and Stillhaul is in a boat at the southern tip thereof. The other two can be found a little further to the west. If you look at the cluster of small western islands, the other two boats can be found at the southern tip of the large, eastern one of this group.

Easy as a 49 hunter. Note that for a hunter, because the area is indoors with tight corners, it is difficult or impossible to use ranged weapons in some locations on the three ships, so be sure that you have a good melee weapon and adequate defense.&nbsp

1) THIS IS FAIRLY DIFFICULT. If possible, grab a friend to do this with you. If you go in a group, please refer to all the previous posters' advice: Pull one by one, use crowd control, and fight your way to the captains. However, if you wish to solo as a priest, read 2)

2) Bring plenty of drinks, buffs, and potions (especially mana). Clear the top deck and begin clearing the inside of the ship. All the captains are located in roughly the same area: in the first floor below the top deck. However, there will be enough mobs to keep you tied up. For the last two captains (I forget their names, but they are on the ships next to each other) I cleared the first floor by using Mind Control and pulling very carefully. When I aggro'd 3 or more mobs, I&nbsp ran off the ship. Keep your shield and renew up constantly, along with Inner Fire.

4) ONCE YOU CAN SEE THE CAPTAIN: I strongly recommend going straight for the captain/fleetmaster, using all your DoT's and high dmg spells. Keep your shields up and ignore the adds. Once he's down, run off the boat.

3) For the first captain (he's on the boat that is by itself), there is a room right before the room with him in it that you can rez in. There seem to be a lot more mobs, so rezzing here and do the following:

a) eat, drink, but conserve mana.
b) you will aggro a patrol, who will in turn, aggro the Captain.
c) Again, dump all your DoT's and high dmg spells into him.
d) Once he's dead, run off the boat.

You don't even have to go on the boats as a Hunter.

Type /target Captain Keelhaul (or whichever) and send your pet in (use Dash/Dive if available). When the target's hp bar starts to go down pull your pet back out, the Captain will come with a load of adds. As soon as he's in range pet attack again and drop him asap with your ranged attacks. Then run away before your pet dies to the adds. If anything goes wrong, like your pet dying too quick, you can just run away and try again.

Worked for me as a solo 45 BM Hunter anyway :)

To avoid some of the rapid respawn on the ships, use an eye of kilrog, run it up the ramp onto the deck and jump off the side while allowing the mobs to chase after it.&nbsp They have to use the ramp to chase you which buys enough time to run up and avoid 3 mobs completely.

In addition to the above facts, you are fighting in very tight spots once you get into the ships. You will pull creeps that are behind walls and the like, so take the advice, don't do it at lvl44 :-)

Both factions do this.
It's close to Booty Bay.

There's generally someone else working on the quest when you are, so it's easy to get a team together.

HOWEVER, if you are soloing, the last boss (the Fleetmaster) is lvl48, dual wielding melee and hits hard.

As a UD 43 Mage I was able to solo both other Captains, but was stymied on the Fleetmaster...he was red to me, and resisted my spells about 2/3 of the time.&nbsp Even so, I was able to get him to about 1/2 health before dying.

How did I even get to him?&nbsp Well, because it's so popular I practiced patience.&nbsp Another solo'er, a NE rogue, had gone in before me.&nbsp He had killed the Fleetmaster and the guard in his room, then ran.&nbsp While he trained the entire ship after him I ran up the ramp and down to the captain's room and waited there, hiding in the corner.&nbsp I died during the fight, but as the quest is so busy, and repops so fast, it's sometimes worth it if you're soloing to be patient and use the other faction when you can.

As soon as I get another level or two I'll try the Fleetmaster again.

Some Tips for Other Mages (and other classes):

-The pirates are for the most part dps classes so try to keep your distance.&nbsp The Sea Dogs are the most annoying since they have a gouge ability.&nbsp
-Do your buffs before you get on the ship, meaning making food and water or throwing on an intellect before you even step foot onto the ramp.&nbsp Keep enough of both food and water on you so that you don't run out when you're on the ship and you have to make more.
-Try to use instant cast spells when you can.&nbsp After all, the less time that it takes to kill the pirates, the less time that other ones have to respawn and kill you.&nbsp However, remember to be mana efficient.
-Don't drink on the stairs inside the ship.&nbsp The people in the captain's room can see you and you may pull them through the stairs.
-You can nova the pirates on the ramp going up to the ship but not on the stairs (which I find really odd).

Personally I hate doing quests on ships.&nbsp Blizzard really didn't spend much time perfecting them so all the npcs can run through the walls and floors at their whim and sometimes they can even range attack you.&nbsp But hopefully these tips help.&nbsp I was a frost mage when I did it so it might be easier with that spec.&nbsp Good luck!

I soloed it as a 44 beast mastery hunter. It is tough. You have to set traps a room behind you and surgically pull the packs. the most you will get is 3. be careful the closer you get to bosses. They have named mobs that, if you aggro, they will aggro boss and all the mobs in his room.

Solo'ed as a 44 Affliction Warlock. I began with Succubus, charming adds, and trying to fight each guard until reaching the boss. Proved slow and dangerous -- they would aggro through walls pretty soon after I reached the stairs.

After killing the first one this way, I pulled out the Voidwalker and changed tactics:

- Climb to deck killing guards one-by-one, sometimes two at a time (easy enough)
- Enter stairwell, kill off any local guards
- Cast Underwater Breathing, just for fun
- Send off VW towards the Captain, then pull him back
- VW comes back with half the middle deck on him
- Pull the captain and lay heavy DOTTing while throwing the VW at him
- Get ready to jump. :)

After the Captain is almost dead (and still with DOTs) you can just jump ship and swim away. Before that you can Sacrifice the VW and/or Howl at any moment when deemed appropriate. Killed the last two captains easily with this kind of tactics. And I didn't spend a single Soulstone. Probably would have worked as 43 as well.

I *heart* being a Warlock. ) Cheers and good luck!

Attempted this solo at lvl 45/hunter and I'm going to put this one aside for a while. The tip to pull them out onto the deck will not work if you are going at it solo(at least on the boat that I tried). 5 enemies were on the main deck. Killed those, then sent my pet down to draw more up to the main deck. By the time I finished killing the second wave of attackers, the others had already respawned. It would be a never ending killing session. These guys also can put you to sleep rather easily. Very frustrating.

When you attack your first target on the boat, be careful and dont stand on the plank leading up to the deck. The mobs call will aggro people from the deck below and suddenly you have a situation that is very tough. Did this as a level 44 mage with the help from a level 51 hunter. Also, look for the letter in the small room beside the captains room (I think its in all the boats). That will start Cortello's Riddle, a fun little series of quests with some travelling to do. :)

Working on this solo as a warlock. Made 48 while working on this.

At 30.89, eastern ship of 2 ships, killed Fleet Master Firallon and someone named Ironpatch.

Also found "Cortello's Riddle" on floor on first deck down by bow staircase, next to a cannon.

Thought I already the other two captain. Missed Keehaul somehow eventhough I thought I got him. So back to the other ship again.

For those that haven't done these yet. All 3 captains were in captain's state rooms. One deck down and aft from top deck, which you come onto when boarding on the plank. No need to go to bottom deck at all.

Love this site. It's my back-up bible, when I'm stuck or frustrated.

* Cortello's Riddle turned out to be a nice and easy three part quest with a lot of good XP and awards a 14 slot knapsack. Ends in Hintrelands at 80.46. And just south of that you can find the bottles for the quest Whiskey Slim's Lost Grog (another Booty Bay quest), all the way donw to Revantusk Village where you find the most. Good easy quest with XP. Flight path in the village for Horde.

Died twice, but can be done as 45 rogue with 5 points in Master of Deception. Can sneak all the way in to chambers, may need to distract if high level captain is facing you. Sap nearest to captain, then start fight with captain as far in the corner as possible. Vanish after captain is dead. Should only have to fight captain and at most one other (use evasion when sap wears off) if you careful going in.

Soloed as a level 43 undead shadow priest. Hard, but i managed it.

The gnome was the easiest, a fear went bad and pulled the entire boat, managed to kite the gnome away with SW:P.

The goblin was also very easy. Mind controlled one of the mages, took the goblin down to 19% then let the mage die so i actually got the kill and loot.

The Fleet master guy was hardest, had many adds with him and the boat respawned while i was killing them. Basically jumped into the water with a dot on him, kited him away, feared etc.

No deaths, use 3x Superior Healing Potion

Just to clarify, turn right immediately after exiting BB via the jaws. Fight through the bloodsails guarding the way to the coast, and then head south.

After just a bit, you'll be able to see 3 boats in the distance, docked on some islands to the SE. 3 boats, 3 captiains.

Definitely not a quest to solo in your mid 40s. We did it with a Mage, Warlock and Hunter, all 43-44, and it was a challenge. You cannot single pull these guys, and frequently end up pulling 3. If you're not careful, you can wind up with 5-6.

Furthermore, the respawn rate is quite fast. Solo, or with just 2 men, you are likely to get respawns to your pull point, which is no good at all.

Fun quest though, and as noted above, nice reward.
