"Pretty Boy" Duncan

Get Catelyn's dagger from "Pretty Boy" Duncan.
Catelyn's Blade

Description

My FATHER sent you? I'd have thought that old codger would have given up on me by now.

It wasn't really his fault I ran off, he just shouldn't have expected I'd be willing to live a boring life, reading over musty books and associating with grey-haired, stiff-backed, stuffy mages!

If you need my dagger, you'll have to get it back from "Pretty Boy" Duncan, one of the Bloodsail Buccaneers. Put something 'tween his shoulders and I'm sure he'll give it up.

If done carefully, you can pull each mob out surrounding him and kill them one by one.
People often grind here, so if you're lucky Duncan may be all by himself.
A useful tip is that if you're too lazy to kill the mobs around him yourself, or you're incapable of doing so, tag a mob and run back to Booty Bay. At the entrance of the tunnel to BB, there are 2 level 60 guards who will make quick work of the Pirates. This way, you can isolate Duncan easily.

Pretty Boy is a fairly easy kill, though he does tend to be in a camp with a few other mobs hovering nearby.

Either take your time clearing the camp, or have a partner, and this is very easy. Just make sure the casters are taken out!

I just jumpt of the pier whre the boat leaves from..&nbsp short swim in the the bridge in front of the waterfall...&nbsp Pretty Boy is at the camp by the littel boat.&nbsp I had to try twice (the first time I got the hole bunch after me :S) but the second time I used a Frostbolt and pulled him out in the sea by himself..
And me - a level 36 Mage - had no problem killing him at all!

Each of the mobs near his camp (27, 70) can be picked out one by one, this is easily soloable in the lower 40s.

The way to solo this is to creep around the camp (assuming you have some form of sealth) and jumping into the water behind "Pretty Boy"'s camp. Once he's separated enough from his group, just pull him into the water and kill him.

If you get a link, just run and try again.

It's much easier this way than trying to kill the fast-respawning mages (fireball hurts) and raiders (who love to net you over and over and over).

Duncan can be found right off the pathway near booty bay, he spawns randomly. Watch out for the mages. If you ever start dying, start running to the Booty Bay entrance, The bruisers will take care of them.

for hunters there is an easy way. i snuck around to the back pier and hit him with an arrow and just pulled him, then killed him w/o agroing the other guys..

Considering this bloke is being guraded... or at least with up-to level 41 mobs. This being a level 39 quest is a little missleading :)

Pretty boy, himself, is level 39 though.

He isn't really hard. It's just the people around him. He is located right outside the Booty Bay entrance to your left like Orik said.

If you swim from Booty Bay around to the north, it is the camp immediate on the shore. You'll see waterfalls behind it and a bridge next to it. It's not that hard to find.

This was incredibly easy. I jumped off the dock in BB, swam towards coordinates 27,70, climbed up on the big rock in the water, spotted Pretty Boy, hit him with my ranged, and killed. Easy kill. No other mobs aggroed.

Just soloed as a lvl 41 warrior. I tried several attempts entering the camp from the road and pulling the few outsiders and then trying to get a good angle into the camp. Died several times. Finally decided to try a water approach, swimming up to the shore rather then coming down the road. This ended up being a successful attempt. I was able to just take a few steps onto the shore and get his attention, run back into the water with him, and received no aggro.

I got lucky soloing this as a level 37 druid. Stealthing past the mobs and swimming out to a position off the beach opposite Duncan, I made sure that he was just inside spell range. Once the surrounding mobs were at their furthest distance from Duncan, I cast a Moonfire on him. This pulled him out into the water without aggroing any of the mobs.

If you're lower then 39 i would recommend swimming from the boat dock in booty bay. (it actually seemed faster then walking out through the tunnel). just follow the shoreline to your right.. you'll come up from behind the bunch of them. Get to the short wooden bridge at (27.3-68.6) and pull the 40 bloodsail raider on the left of pretty boy. once you kill him you can pull pretty boy right to ya. makes it a real easy quest. was pretty easy for me as a 36 lock.

Like the post above me says, if your a hunter this should be cakewalk. Going in from the water and pulling only him was easy. The only problem you might run into is when he tries to run before he dies.

I did it as 37 rogue, stealth in the water, pull him, just be careful not to pull with him the 41 mage and a patrol next to him, be patient, you can pull just him

Swim from booty bay as instructed before.

Only aggro pretty boy, solo lvl 39 in catform, easy as pie, save up your finisher for when he's at about 14% so that he doesn't get a change to run and aggro.

Good luck.

As long as you have a missile weapon of some kind this is the easiest quest in the world, just wait till all the other mobs are a safe distance away and shoot him, he comes running, they don't. As a rogue I found Crippling poison to be the best for this job, because when he tries to run away, its more of a slow walk. :)

I followed the directions of swimming north from BB and taking out "Pretty Boy" from the coast, and it was almost too easy.

There was hardly anyone around him. I just pulled him with my Wrath, morthed to Cat Form, and gutted him to death.

Thanks very much for the alt route. It was a real saver. :)

Soloed this as a level 36 pally. I died once... they keey is once the first bucaneer walks away, wait for that point in time with the mage turns his back and walks away, and duncan walks forward. Once he gets closer, run to the side of the beach, away from the mage, and you should only aggro "pretty boy". I pulled him into the water, in case anyone else should walk by, and killed him easily.

Devotion Aura, Blessing of Might, Seal of Light until it faded, then used seal of justice to stun, made it so he couldn't run away, and finished him off.

Jump in the water and swim north to the cove.&nbsp Find him, he stands not too far inland.&nbsp Use your pulling mechanism (a wand, an arrow, something lightish on damage) and he will come alone, and you smash him in the water.&nbsp Not hard, I did this as a 37 WL solo and didn't aggro anyone other than Pretty Boy.&nbsp

Little bit hard quest for a lvl 35 warlock, but the only way to do this quest on is to pull him when you standing in the wather. in some few moments the other guys around him are unpullable if you attack "pretty boy",&nbsp in this moment you pull him, send your pat on him.(the best pat on this quest is the voidwalker) Dont be to agg, let the voidwalker work a little bit with him and little bit later you attack him with the dotts first(ok to have a lesser healstone available). exact cords for this quest is 27.10, good luck everyone!

I stealthed ((of course)) and while in stealth I pulled one at a time with "throw."&nbsp I would suggest staying farther back, at least at this level or lower because even in stealth they detect you easily, so don't even bother pick-pocketing.&nbsp

I solo'ed this quest as a level 36 fire spec human mage.

He really is very easy to kill.

Once you get to the co-ords 27,70, you will find a bridge. Go next to the bridge, so that Duncan is infront of you, surrounded by about 5 of his crew.

Stay in that position for a moment, and identify the roaming mage which walks around. When you get her (her for me), wait until she is not infront of Duncan (she walks a pentagon shape around him, stopping on each point of the pentagon shape) then attack Duncan, with the water around your legs.

He will come to you, try and pull him back as far as you can without going back into the water, just incase the roaming mage comes back around. Then, kill him.

I'm level 36, wasn't hard for me. He barely took any health at all.

Scorch to aggro him, fireball, fireball, mana shield, fireball until he died (and when he was dead, I still had the shield).

Good luck folks, it's easy stuff.

Just solo'ed this as a 36 warlock, i did this in less then 1 minute lol.

First go to the right walk over the mountains to avoid the lvl 41.

Cross the bridge and go in the water.

Wait untill the most right mob walks away from pretty boy duncan.

Pull Duncan to te sea and kill him, i turned right and headed to booty bay withu full health

I am a level 34 hunter. After attempting all of the prescribed methods and failing miserably, I went through Booty Bay. I jumped off the dock of the boat to Ratchet, swam around the headland to the north to where his camp is, and climbed on to the rock jutting out of the water. Pull "Pretty Boy" to you with an arrow swim into the water so he gets further from the gang had my pet attack and just lesurely shot his carcass back into hell.
