Akiris Reed (10)

Description

You looking fer work, <name>? I might have some if you're up for a little challenge.

I got a friend named Groy who makes a killing selling what the naga call akiris reed: it's some kind of valuable ocean reed. Not too sure what it's for, but he pays well for bundles of the stuff.

Ya bring me ten stalks of the stuff, and we'll have business to do. The naga were last seen along the beach to the north of here.

There's a chest spawn in the ruins near the Wellspring fountain (before you cross the bridge it's on your left). I used a potion to stealth past most of the guards, killed the Naga by the chest and looted the chest. Then went on a killing spree picking off all the Naga in the area, by the time I had my 10 Akiri the chest had re-spawned :-)

Overall the quest was well worth doing, at level 43 the fights were quite easy and the XP was good. There's Purple Lotus, Steelbloom and Stranglekelp in the area for herbalists. There's mithril veins for miners.

"the drop rate sucks"

question 1. why are you doing quests in the first place? answer: to get XP.

question 2. whats the reward of killing monsters? answer: XP, money, quest items, (reputation perhaps)

conclusion: "the drop rate sucks" argument sucks!

Hope this gets your blood pressure down.
Coordinates are 25,63 and surrounding area.
I ground this area as a 44 pally for about 40 minutes until I got all 10. Also got between 490-530 xp for each kill ( lvl 43-44 respectively)
Hope this helps.

You can find the Naga that drop this on the larger island just North-West of Booty Bay. The drop rate isn't that fantastic either. Naga are lvl42-44.

The drop rate isn't low...its excrutiatingly pathetic. I got off the first few and then it took about 35 more to get a fifth...can't wait to see how many it'll take to ge the next five. If your someone who doesnt mind grinding for XP though it is great for that...

i'd say the drop rate was about 30% - it's really not that bad and at level 43 i got 3700XP out of it so it's well worth doing. also, you do usually get at least a couple of pearls and the odd green out of it. all in all it probably took me about 35 minutes of naga killing - as a hunter i admit i can go through them pretty quick so YMMV.

I managed to get all 10 killing about 25 or 30 of these mobs, while also finishing off the Mok'Thardin's Enchantment section of the quest too. Good XP, decent money (Zesty clam meat usually goes for a reasonable price on the AH) and really easy mobs. Nowhere near half a level though, whoever was saying that.

I'm still not done with this quest. As most mention, the drop rate blows. I have left on to other quests TWICE now, going back when I have nothing much else to do, and I still only have 4/10. Due to the fact I have left, I have no idea how many I have killed, but I would guess, overall, atleast 50. I would like to finish and turn it in before its not orange any more. At this rate, I dont really see that happening. I'll keep on though...

You're looking for "Naga Explorers," which can be found north of Booty Bay. To get there, leave through the cavern, head left to Southern Savage Coast where you'll find the Bloodsail people, across a bridge, and up the coastline to where you'll find Naga Explorers. This is what you're looking for, at 24,65.

Drop rate is not fantastic, but my level 44 hunter had no problem dealing with 3 of these things at a time.&nbsp Made the grind go faster.&nbsp Like the previous poster, I found a Golden Pearl, a Black Pearl, and was able to take down the Lord (Rare spawn) inside.&nbsp Got a nice neck piece.&nbsp All together a good day.

The naga that drop akiris reeds are on the island NW of Booty Bay. If you start following the path up the hill, at the top is the wellspring. I also found a truesilver vein up here. I didn't see a chest, but maybe someone else had gotten it before I got there.
I thought the drop rate wasn't too bad, averaged maybe 1 akiris reed for every 2-3 nagas I killed. I got only 1 black pearls for all the clams I got off the nagas though. Overall, I thought the quest was pretty easy.

I've been killing these things solo at level 45 and banked well over 25,000 xp and I still have only 7 reeds. My drop rate is less than one in five. I have tried on the coast (25, 60) and near the Wellspring (26,65)...terrible.

Soloed this at lev 43 hunter, also earned an extra 10k exp due to terrible drop rate, however, there are plenty of Naga in the area directly in front of Wellspring gate and inside entrance to offset this.
2700 exp for completing the quest and 350 booty bay rep too

This was easy enough. I went to thetop of the hill where the "Holy Well" is and killed the Naga Explorers there. I willed 14 Nagas and lef. Also the chest is at 28,63. I avg 230+ exp per "Normal Feeling" Kills.

Received 3600 Exp
60s
and a Scorching Sash

Have fun.
