Order Must Be Restored

Assemble an army and travel to the Eastern Plaguelands. Launch a full assault on Nathanos Blightcaller and any Horde filth that may attempt to protect him.

Keep your wits about you, <name>. The Horde will defend the ranger lord with their very lives.
  •
Nathanos Blightcaller slain

Description

Do you know how many ranger lords exist in this world? How many human ranger lords have ever existed?

Nathanos' accomplishments were unprecedented. He was a tactical genius, responsible for Alliance victories spanning a decade of conflict.

And now... the champion of the Forsaken.

No. This cannot be. Order must be restored.

Gather an army, <name>. Return to the Plagues with your army and destroy the Blightcaller.

I wish you luck, <name>. Truly, you will need it for this battle.

In December 2006 one poster noted that it is "slightly less common" to find a raid for this than it used to be. Well, one year into TBC, I can tell you, forget about it. Unless you have a guild at your beck and call, it isn't happening. You can spam "LFG Nathanos Blightcaller" all day long. All you will hear is crickets.

It's really too bad that by "adding content" via an expansion, Blizzard ends up de facto "removing content" because no one bothers with the old difficult quests anymore, unless they can be soloed.

It used to be common to see people LFG for this... it'd get raided at least once a week, now it's slightly less common... and there's currently a bug that won't let me search for it with the new tool even though I have the quest.

Did this one easily with 20 of us. We were planning on doing it with 15, but lots of people was interested in getting this quest off their log, hehe.

We sent several tanks on each of the hounds and most spellcasters (plus some tanks of course) was on Nathanos. When he summoned his little skeleton-friends it was all about AoE-spells. Only a few of us died.

Sorry about poor quality on the pic, but at least it's something )

If this will work or not depends a lot on the groups (Well, most quests do). As I could do this one on the first try with 20 of us, a friend of mine died 3 times with the same number of people before he finally could complete it.

The problem is that he spawns his adds as he loses HPs. All you have to do is have a group to tank him (warrior or 2 and healers) and have everyone else deal with the adds when they spawn. Every time I've been there, there just weren't enough healers. There's never enough healers, because most paladins think that they are DPS, and not healers.

Have a paladin hit Nath with JoLight at the start, and use the paladins to heal the MT(s) until the pallies go OOM, that way the priest or 2 you have don't go OOM too soon. Use Hunter pets and VWs to tank the adds. A hunter can solo an add by him self if he'll stop shooting long enough to heal his pet every now and then.

However, all too often, everyone wants to rush in and kill him too fast, and the adds build up and the raid wipes. Strategy and Tactics, learn them.

All,

We did this tonight. 14-18 of us wiped several times, but finally made it. 3 things for success:

1. Do _not_ gather at the scene before the attempt. Your presence during the 5-25 minutes before the raid is gathered/full/ready will draw the attention from visiting hordes. They will stick around, which is bad. Gather somewhere else and move in group when ready.

2. The two hounds, without the boss, can be pulled and killed from their standard position. A hunter pulled from one of the eastern hills. They offer a good fight, but without any problems. The boss will then be alone for a few minutes before they respawn.

3. The boss fears the closest people some 2-3 times during the fight. At that point, a warrior tank should be _outside_ of that ~10 yards radius and bloodlust->intercept->def stance->taunt to save the poor cloth beares from a bad beating.

Yes, skeletons spawns. I really do not know if it was due to healing. They are immune to warriors fears - that's all i know.

Good luck!

Our guild has done it a few times.&nbsp It appears that it doesnt matter wether you heal or not, the skeletons are going to spawn like mad.&nbsp The only problem with healing, is it draws all the skeletons to your healer and they zerg him/her hard.

You cannot AOE the skeletons, they wont take any damage.

The 2 demon dogs are immune to everything.&nbsp Polymorph, sleep, enslavement, etc.

The best plan is to have 2 ppl offtank the dogs, and everyone zerg the Blightcaller as fast as possible.&nbsp When he is dead, the skeletons will stop spawning.

The skeletons have very little health, but they must be taken care of one at a time.

We do that exact plan everytime now and we never wipe, although a few ppl will die now and then.

Ok this guy is really fun! Well i thought so...this is a 20 MAN RAID...get mostly dps you know why? BECAUSE IF YOU HEAL HE WILL SPAWN SKELETONS! (yes even vampiric embrace is healing, i found that out the hard way) DO NOT HEAL IN ANY FORM OR FASHION...just wanted to make that clear...also AOE will not work on him or if he spawns the skeletons it will not work on them...this is farily simple if there are no horde around...we had one but i killed him in time enough to get to the blightcaller himself...just letting you guys know

edit: err if people die...tell them not to release and wait for a rez for the priest or pally

My guild scheduled this last week as a nightly event along with the Battle of Darrowshire.
We did both with 12-15 people, no problem, it took about an hour total, and cleared out a lot of people's quest logs (not to mention getting my Druid alt to 58).&nbsp Definitely true that on a PvP server, you only get one shot at it, so you may as well drop Nathanos as fast as possible after you start hitting him, and just not worry about actually killing his adds (just off-tank them).&nbsp That way if any Horde do decide to show up and wipe out your raid group, at least you got the quest done first.

As some people have noted, the only hard part about this is finding 15 or more people who want or need to kill BlightCaller and are patient enough to stick around until a decent raid group can be formed.

We completed it ther other night on the Garona Server by PUG. 25 minutes to create the raid group less than 1 minute to kill BlightCaller.

Our strat:

2 pets on one dog
1 off tank on other dog
tank on BlightCaller
All DPS on BlightCaller
No heals (no bandage, no pots, no healing spells)

BlightCaller died quickly, but someone drank a potion and summoned the skels, which wiped us out. We ran back from the cem and finished off the skels. From start to finish, 5 minutes tops.

This raid is a lot of fun, once you get a raid group together.

Done this a million times, dont know why some have had problems with it at all, just everyone all out nuke blighty.

Did it a couple days ago and everyone underlined to not heal and I mean nothing that regenerates your health, no heals, healthstones, health potions, vampiric embrace, drain life etc etc. And sure enough I could see no skellies, blighty went down quickly, so did the dogs, around 2-3 deaths.

A shammy turned up to watch, but did not interfere at all, just /cheered at us and /mourned blighty.

Did this today with 16 level 60 guild members. Sent 1 tank, and split all pets between the 2 dogs. Everyone else nuked the hell out of Blightcaller. Of course, despite the many many warnrings, some health was regened somewhere and the skeletons spawn.

Still though, everyone hit Blightcaller hard and he went down very easily. There were a few deaths but nothing crazy. I didn't die. In fact, I don't even recall getting hit until AFTER Blightcaller was already dead. (Then, I was able to feign death and walk away unscathed).

Really, this is very easy. Can definitely be done with a 15 man PUG.

There was a Tauren druid who stood by and watched the whole time but didn't interfere.

Nice comment Bladester, unfortunately it has very little to do with this chain.

Another option which I haven't seen mentioned yet, which has worked very well for me and my guild, is to simply kite the dogs. That'll take a hunter on each dog, the rest can all happily dps the hell out of Blightcaller. You could even just decide to heal anyway and simply take the skellies on the chin, as Blighty will go down so fast you will have more than enough health/mana left to take care of the dogs pronto and the skellies no probs. Worked for me several times. Laugh, pick up loot, hand in quest, get reward. Cake.

If you have a cpl of guildies who have anywhere near T1 items, esp. if they are tanks and/or mages, you can do this with SIGNIFCANTLY fewer players, cutting down on your spamming time for LFGs.

Just killed him today with 11 people on "Hakkar"
Group consisted of 2 Rogues, 3 mages, 1 warrior, 2 priests 1 warlock, 1 druid and 1 paladin (me).

First couple of tries we used absolutely no healing of any kind but the skeletons came no matter what, so we decided to kill him with full dps and healing.
Paladin (me) ran with the hounds, just before dying used shield, the hounds ran back, and when the shield weared out, the hounds and all the skeletons returned faithfully to me or rather chasing me that is. In the meanwhile the 10 others used full DPS on Nathanos, he died, quest fulfilled, and then wipe...

Conclusion, healing or no healing, the skeletons will appear, so just kill him.... Good luck

3 rogues (60, 60, 60)
1 Warrior (59)
1 priest (60)
1 mage (60)
1 hunter (60)

died the first attempt becuase there were too many skeletons. second time was pretty easy less healing. we managed to kill him but the skeletons finished us off. doesn't matter though just as long as you kill him.

Did this quest with 23 people on Eonar tonight and we had 3 people die in the doing. My guess is that you can do it with about 18 without ~too~ much trouble, if you're good. The best way to do it is to gather your grou at Darrowshire, so you don't get spotted by Horde. Or if you do, they might think you're gathering for Defenders of Darrowshire and not say anything. Even on PvE servers, this is important because Blightcaller is PvP enabled. You ~can~ pull the dogs if you want and I recommend it if you have a large enough group so that you can take them down quickly. After that, just hit Blightcaller as fast and as hard as you can.

I've done this with large groups about 3 times now mostly because we put out the notice and a lot of guild people jumped in to help. It's nice with a very large group because hardly anyone dies and you don't have to worry about horde attacks. Doesn't bother me one bit to do it with more than we really need. It just makes it that much easier to knock it out.

I did it last night og should I say we did it.
I startet to gather a group at about 16.30 and got the first group together at 17.30. We where 11 people and tried 3 times, but even though we did not heal - or people say they did'n heal, the skeletons came anyway. We got wiped 3 times.
Then half the group left. We joined forces with another group and we where then 10 people. the didn't have much time, so we tried again inly 10. We got wiped of course and skeletons came again, så I guess people don't get the koncept of NO HEALING!
Damn.. The time said 19.00 and most of the people from the group was gone again. But somehow the rest of us gathered 13 people all together and the lock summoned all to be there.
We tried again.. someone healed again.. skeletons came, I died.. One of the hounds was mad at me for some reason. but when I died Blightcaller was down to 8% and when I ressurrected, the rest had killed him off and we completed the quest! YES! The hounds he had survived, but he died so that was the main target. The time said 20.00
I guess the point is, that you can do it even though someone don't understand that they should not heal and you can do it only 13. Most people say you MUST be at least 15 or 20 to complete it. Not true at all.
And I got my nice bow from the quest, so I am a happy but tired hunter.
By the way the shield is nice for pallys but if you can't get peope together, then go to scholo and get the Rattlecage buckler in stead. My pally did. It is small and not so impressive, but the stats is even nicer I think than the protector for a pally.
My hunter have tried to get the ancient bone bow from scholo also, but no such luck.
