Excelsior

Bring an Elder Crocolisk Skin to Drizzlik in Booty Bay.
Elder Crocolisk Skin

Description

With the inside finished, all that's left is to add the outer layer. For this, I use only the best elder croc skins. They are more durable and a better canvas--if you will--for adding the designs and accents that make Drizzlik's Excelsior line.

It's hard to find that perfect skin though, the only one that fits my plan is the skin of an elder saltwater crocolisk. The elders only come out to defend the other saltwater crocs, so you might need to kill a few to draw one out.

I solo'd this as [class] at [level] I just used [abilities] and it died.

Unless you have a unique method of soloing something, (kiting to guards as has been mentioned here, or taking advantage of some other weakness) posts like this don't contribute much.

There's usually one on the beach near Grom'Gol.

I found him just south of the Grom'Gol Camp on the beach and he sure found me. lvl 36 Druid tied him up with roots, lowered his armor 285 with Faerie Fire, hit him with one starfire then turned into the bear to tank.

Only managed to knock off about 75% of his health. He stunned me when I tried to run in travel form and that was that. Probably could get him with the cat but I may just come back (shortly) and try again at lvl 37. Clearly he can be beaten you just need to be well prepared. Two people could handle him easily.

Avoid the guards on the beach side of Grom'Gol. They have the usual orc hospitality.

As of patch 2.3 the Elder Saltwater Crocolisks are no longer elite, thus making this quest much easier and soloable by any class.

I found him at 29,26. I started at 34,31 and followed the beach north killing the saltwater crocs. I am not sure if he spawns in different places or spawns after you kill some saltwater crocs so I would kill the saltwater ones just to make sure. I killed about 5 before I seen him

Hunters level 36 or so shouldn't have a problem with this one. Lay a trap (go for damage-- explosive or immolation), draw the croc over, then get pet to aggro, Scorpid sting, rapid fire, arcane shot, etc, but don't waste all your mana because you'll most likely have to mend pet at least once.

Did this at lv 36 with same level cat.

Just kept Serpent Sting on and used normal ranged attacks, saved the rest of my mana for Mend Pet. Used 1 mana potion (when I tried without the potion, twice, I could only get it down to 10-15% before I ran out of mana and my pet died).

PS. It's pretty obvious that the Elder crocs are a random respawn from the normal ones. Usually there are a few up along the beach between Grom'Gol Base Camp and Zuuldaia Ruins, but if not, or you don't feel like walking to look, just start killing the normal ones and an Elder will spawn fairly quickly. I'd guess it's maybe a 1 in 10 chance that an Elder respawns instead of a normal croc.

If its near grom gul and you're horde, you can pull it into the guards after you get it down to about 60%. I just had to kill it way up the shore as a level 39 rogue with no help from the guards. Do not worry if you have to do this, the crocs are big pushovers.
If you're a rogue, expose ASAP, it helps a LOT. Other classes such as hunters / pallys / frost mages / warlocks should have no problem. If you are a warrior or druid or you just dont have good gear, you might have to wait for a spawn near the guards.

edit (half a year later...): As of 2.3 he's no longer elite, so anybody should be able to kill him without a problem.

A word of advice. Just stay in one spot (north or south of grom'gol is nice) and don't move up and down the coast killing as you go like I did. That will not make it spawn. Stay in one area and kill them as they respawn (takes some time).

I just solo'd this guy as a lvl 35 human mage. It cost me 1 greater healing pot to do it. Outside of that pyroblast, fireball, fireblast, frostnova, rinse repeat ( Swap frontnova out for cone of cold when FN is under cooldown )

The first croc skin can come off any croc on the river near the hunter camp

after that the crocs on the far shore from the
venture company basecamp will land you the 5 skins you need. as for the last croc
I found my little monster along the shoreline of vile reef near the red basilisks that drop the 10 crystaline skins.

Soloed the croc as a Lv37 Hunter. Pretty easy as far as elites go. Hits harder and has more HP than regular crocs, but it doesn't really attack any faster. Just don't get any adds. )

Kinda wish the boots had +7 Stamina instead of Strength. I guess they're pretty good for Rogues, though.

Above the ghostly Island there is a other small island. On this island is one crocodile and 3 water elements. Just kill the one crocodile till he spawns...it took me only 2 respawn till the elite came. Good thing is...no one ever is there and you have the spawn for yourself...you even can go afk since the croco dosn't wander and the elements are not to close.

Can do this quest as Alliance north of Grom Gol Base Camp while killing basilisks for shards, killing lashtail raptors, getting the troll legend at the beach, or getting elemental bracers off the coast at a separate island. Does not take a very long time to get the elders to come out. The quest reward is great for a hunter or feral druid.
