Rescue OOX-17/TN!

Escort OOX-17/TN to Steamwheedle Port, then report to Oglethorpe Obnoticus in Booty Bay.
  •
Escort OOX-17/TN to Steamwheedle Port

Description

The gnome's voice crackles once again from the robot:

"I need to move OOX-17/TN to an open, safe place so it can begin a lengthy take-off procedure. It has built-in cloaking, but I need time on my end to make it operational again. I need you to escort the robot from its current location to, let's say, Steamwheedle Port! That should be a perfect place, and long enough, to get things on line!"

"Escort it safely to the port, and then come talk to me in Booty Bay! Oglethorpe Obnoticus - out!"

Just 2 ambushes: three lvl 47 scropids in the start and three wastevander humans (1 mage, 2 assasins, around lvl 44) almost in the end. And some usual mobs chicken just cant get past on its way >.<
Soloed without much troubles as lvl 47 affliction warlock.
Picture at https://classicdb.ch/?npc=7784 shows the way chicken follows.

It might be bugged on 2/29/06 because there is no 2/29/06, perhaps you are living in an alternate universe, or a few centuries in the future when February '06 has 29 days?

Anyway, took me 2 tries (first time at 46, too tough) succesfully at 48 with my hunter.

I completely disagree with another post that you should only attack those mobs that the chicken fights.&nbsp Things to remember:

the chicken is 42 and a whimp.

If you are ahead of the chicken and attack a mob, he will break his path and assist you.&nbsp This is a great way to slow him down while you let your mana/health regen.&nbsp Between your standard damage, your pets damage and the chickens, you really don't need to be using any mana or taking any damage.&nbsp This is downtime.&nbsp Once the mob is dead, the chicken will resume his normal path.

There are 2 summons in his path.&nbsp The first is a trio of scorps between two small mounds of dirt when you're heading north.&nbsp &nbsp The second is 4 humanoids (usually 1 mage with pet and 3 warrior/rogue class mobs) levels 43-44.&nbsp This is the tougher of the two ambushes.&nbsp It occurs with the tents of the wastewater bandits to your immedate left.&nbsp As usual, take down the caster first, keep the aggro on your pet or yourself but away from the chicken.

Before each ambush, the chicken will alert you of incoming.&nbsp Good time to lay down a trap (whatever knd suits your playing style).

If you've survived the bandits, it's smooth sailing&nbsp to the dock.

You return quest to Oglethorpe Obnoticus in Booty Bay. He is at top floor 28,76.

For those of you who can't use coordinations if you are in the INN in Booty Bay you walk out of it walk straight up to the North up the deck. Turn right in the first door you reach after going to higher deck floor and there he is! :)

I've done this quest on 4 different characters and today when I did this on my lvl46 rogue I figured out a trick. This is for people like me, who are: lazy to find a group/have crappy gear/don't want to wait until lvl48+ to do this.

The difficulty in this quest is that there will be 2 ambushes on the way, and because my gear is crappy I had to blow all my cooldowns in the first ambush and therefore I had nothing left for the second...

This is how I managed to do this:
Start the escort @60,64, when the first group of scorpions spawn let the chicken "tank" them, and kill 2 of the scorpions using cooldowns as needed, then finish the last scorpion after the chicken dies! don't loot any corpses.

Now run back to 60,64 and start the quest again, in the first ambush there will be no scorpions(they are dead already)!

Before you get to the last ambush your cooldowns should be ready, keep a healing potion, trinkets, engineering stuff, anything that can help ready for the last ambush and you should make it..

Good luck @@

I had no problems doing this quest today, May 18th. The only problem anyone in our group had was when one of us was stunned, and the rest of us had wandered too far away, so they wound up failing. But they went right back and wound up soloing it.

Previous guys are right. Kill 3 scorps first and don't atack every1 who atacks chicken. Atack only if chicken stops and starts fightin. The only problem are 3 human mobs at the beach. It was tough, but I did it, and imho, any1 45+ can do. The rest was np at all. Finish the quest at Booty Bay.

I too managed to get the Feralas and the Tanaris chicken to get to it's destination without a single fight. Just let it go in front of you with some distance between you and the chicken, so it agroes the enemies. Do not attack any of them, they will run behind the chicken and do nothing more than that.

I done this quest as a lvl 43 prot (AoE) pally, it took two attempts. The first time the chicken died when i bubbled against the Mage and the 2 assassins because he pulled all the agro. I healed and ruined their day (but really they had already ruined mine!). Anyway, next time i got through with no problems. Tactics: I killed the scopids pally AoE style (BoSanc, Ret Aura, SoLight, holy shield). I consecrated to pull any agro off the chicken. (remember we dont want him to die!) This was the toughest fight by far. I think i even used Lay on hands after some wolf joined in. I killed everything slowly from then on so that my health and mana kept going up, BoWis, SoL does it for pallys. I changed to Prot Aura too for the chicken! Keep an eye on the chickens health; take as much beating as you need to so that he has time to heal. You can always take a potion or bandage. (I couldnt heal the chicken). I switched to Shadow res Aura before i got to the mage and Co. Killed mage first, pulled the agro from the chicken with consecration. Then went back to pally AoE again to finish off the assassins. They dual wield so happy days. (The chicken doesnt take well to dual wielders though!) He died quick the first time! There was no other trouble. Sorry this is really only a pally guide....
The longest part of this was finding the chicken! Which got me killed once but the second time i pulled a lvl 50 basilisk and half way through that i pulled another lvl 50 giant bug that dropped critters. (they died on my BoSanc though! lol) I survived it though but the fight took so long the basilisk had disappeared (and i couldnt loot it!) by the time I had finished off the bug! (really what happens is that you try and keep your health up (Jol Sol) while holy damage (ret Aura, BoSanc, Shield spike) slowly kills them!)

Solo'd this the other day as a 48 SPriest. Instead of fearing ambushers for the escort quests, I usually try to find a different way.

The first group I thought would be like the previous groups I ran into, and come from a distance, so I mounted and scorpions spawn in a circle surrounding the chicken, and immediately start attacking. Throw dots, attacks, or get some kind of aggro from all of them, and just focus on the one he's focused on. For reference, I found my chicken was able to stay alive for at least 25 or so seconds, easily with one scorpion and poison on him. If you're a lower level, don't attack the mob that the chicken is focused on, take 2 off of him, and take the 3rd when you've finished one, the chicken should survive comfortably, as should you.

The chicken ran past or into several mobs on the way, before, after, and in between ambushes. I didn't find these happening too terribly often, every 20-30 seconds of dead time. I just join him in the fight, these are typically single mobs, I got occasional doubles.

The second group does approach from a distance, so I was able to mount and kite them, just running through, and then past the group. The mage was only able to cast on me once, and the melees got 2 attacks per? After seeing this was quite possible, I dropped mount and engaged. I threw dots on the assassin's, and then just focused on the mage, they dropped with no fuss.

A few helpful things to remember, I wasn't able to buff or heal the chicken whatsoever, but within 10 seconds of leaving combat, that cheesy NPC regen kicks in, and he's full in 2 ticks. If his health is really low, and he's walking directly towards a mob, simply go to the side of the path, and pull the mob yourself, keeping it out of the chicken's aggro range, he'll walk right past, and you can finish the mob yourself. Also, bandages are extremely helpful, just remember that they can be interrupted easily, wait until the scorpids' poison wears off before you bandage, or you'll have a minute to wait to try again =P Hope this helps. 5450 XP

Edited for typos and the like.

I saw this with one of the related quests in Feralas. My understanding is that if someone else is currently working on the quest (and the chicken somehow respawned) it will get stuck like that.

You just need to try again later or wait for it to start walking.

I did this quest last night as a level 50 mage and as stated in previous posts, I let the chicken run a bit ahead of me and when the mobs aggroed him he just kept running and eventually they stopped following. There were a few times I had to fight but nothing major. Was pretty easy. :)

Can't say that it was easy...
Those normal mob's were easy (those what chicken aggro's), but you will get attacked by 2 waves.
First wave contains 3 scorpion, used pshyical scream and they never came back...
Second wave contains 3 pirates near of other pirate camps so i had to kill total like 6 pirate. I had mana like 300 when second wave came so I changed to holy and started shooting with wand cuz all mana i had i used for healing myself. I were almost dead all the time and so was chicken but I finally made it after 8 min fight!
I really don't recommend to do it alone when you are below 50.

I soled this q at lvl 47 or 46 being a warlock.

The chicked in my case proved to be a tough mofo, not in the sense that it was dealing alot of dmg, but in the sense that it can take quite a heavy beating.

It will avoid plenty of mobs, although eventualy it will walk in others. The good thing is that they are 99% of the time single pulls and as you move towards the bay, tha lvl is getting smaller.
You should not have a problem.

The only tough part is 2 or 3 times when an "ambush" happens. the chicken will stop and tell you "Danger Imminent" or something like that, then 3 mobs will appear all beating the chicken. Ass to that one more mob that might be following you from before ( The chicken WILL draw aggro but will NOT attack unless you stop to attack a mob ), and its not a pretty picture.

I used Howl of terror and then kept moving, chicken following.
The good thing is that the ambush mobs, behave like normal one as far as following you is concerned, meaning that after a while they will stop following you.

Very good XP on the q uppo completion in BB as well.

Don't know if it was just one of those days, but of all the times I have done this quest, the one I just completed a minute ago took by far the longest.

There seemed to be 2-3 times as many mobs on the route back, the chicken aggro'd everything in sight let alone range.

Would like to hear some more reports of doing this after 2.3

This little bugger runs right infront of Caverns of Time. I tried to do this but every time I bump into high-level hordes who find it funny to ruin my questing. Just a notice, everyone should be careful while doing this. I'd suggest doing it when it's not prime-time for players so that you might be able to avoid any high-level gankers.

Just a small hint: make sure you let the mobs that aren't part of the ambushing plan (so the mobs the chicken runs into) attack the chicken first. So don't go clear the path, because then you risk the chicken getting more aggro, because he won't stop walking if just YOU engage combat. I made this mistake and got an ambush of 4 scorpids and a land rager instead of the 3 scorpids. Fail.

Did get low on health and had no major healing potions, but managed not to die. Chicken was found SE of Gadgetzan in the hills just south of the shore there. I was actually looking for a place to rest and found chicken. Got 4400xp for just finding chicken so if I didn't escort, I wasn't all that worried. Turned in quest at bb got 5450xp points.
