Sunken Treasure

Escort Professor Phizzlethorpe to the cave and back.
  •
Defend Professor Phizzlethorpe

Description

Now that we are full-fledged Blackwater Raiders it is our job to help Mr. O'Breen locate the lost elven treasure.

It is next to impossible to find the gems in the dark sea without aid. The doctor has constructed some goggles that will help. He needs the goggles charged with the energy derived from the enchanted stone in the cave just up the hill.

But the cave is cursed! When we get close, we get ambushed. Defend me and I can harness the energy from the stone into the goggles.

Soloed as a lvl 37 hunter after dying a couple of times from endless spawns. I don't think it's bugged.

The thing is, he must worked undisturbed for some time. If you fight the mobs inside the cave, he will attack them instead of working, so more mobs spawn ad infinitum until you die.

Therefore, stand at the entrance, pull both mobs away from him so he doesn't help and he will do his work while you fight them. This way he will be finished before more mobs have time to respawn. I only had to fight 2 mobs this way.

At least it worked for me.

The key to this quest is to stay in the cave mouth, dont go into the cave with the gnome. This way there are no respawns, only the initial 2 water elementals to deal with. Fighting them at the cave mouth allows the gnome to finish his work undisturbed (and you to finish the quest).

Where there's a will, there's a way.

To get past this quest quickly, stay at the entrance of the cave until both elementals spawn. Once they both have aggro on you, head back to the dock, and let the dockworkers take out your problem ^^.

I am a lvl 38 hunter. All I did is wait at the entrance like "marmal" said, I then shoot both of the elementals that spawn and have them chase me down to the harbor so the two guards attack them. After that, I get to safe distance and just range em! Easy as that!

Here is how I did it, using elements of previous comments, as a lvl 37 Paladin.

Stand about halfway into the cave when the Elementals appear, get them attacking you and move outside the cave.&nbsp Concentrate on staying alive, not killing.&nbsp This gives the good doctor the time to do his work as soon as he does, run for the docks, as soon as you get there, the mobs will let you go, and you will have completed the quest, because in the meantime, the Doctor will have been able to get back to his camp.

I have done this quest many times in the past, until recently it always summoned 2, now it just keeps summoning two at a time until you die....

And when you go to get your body they are still there. If you try and drop the quest and then restart it they kill you before you get inside

Yes the quest is major bugged but the abandon quest agro mobs worked well. I just attacked the mobs brought them to the peer and let the crew kill them. The guy went in and out. Let the mobs die slow so the guy can go in and out.

Pretty funny.

Quest seems way to hard for the level. Im a 37 pally and can solo anything up to lvl 39 elites and this was retarded. Went through about 9 of them, at least 2 at a time and finally wiped. Gonna try again one last time then abandon.

im a 37 fury warrior and i beat on my second try its quite easy if you do this- 1.) use all buffs you have 2.) have at least 1 heavy healing potion (in my case greater healing potion worked) 3.) whoever he attacks attack the opposite.&nbsp When i did that it worked quite well :)

I used the above method (a couple tries) and it worked quite well as a 37 Shammy.&nbsp Just lay the stoneclaw and the magma totem to make sure you get the aggro and start walking outside.&nbsp Make sure you have the HoT on you and maybe a Healing Potion.&nbsp Change to ghost wolf and make a run for the docks ASAP. Once you get close enough, the guards will take care of business and the Professor will finish his thing...&nbsp Up to you to help the guards out.&nbsp I went back up the hill to make sure more didn't spawn (they did) but not before he was done)

spawns 2 initial level 40 water elementals, then spawned 2 or 3 more before he was finished. So be prepared to fight at least 5 before he runs out and you can follow him.

You have to escort Professor Phizzlethorpe to a cave that's very close to where he is. He needs to energize some Goggles for you to use on a quest after this one. Once he enters the cave and starts the energizing process he is attacked by two level 40 water elementals. If you can't beat two level 40's, either bring some help or just do the other quests here and move on.

I had it summon 9 consecutive elementals with no water/food break.&nbsp On the last one, he finally ran out and said the quest was done.&nbsp I ran back and was going to hand it in but got killed by the last elemental.&nbsp If you die, it fails, even if he lives and is sitting back at the campfire.&nbsp It might have had something to do with how I was banishing the summoned mobs.

I'm lvl 42 tauren druid. Everyone in the cove is green to me, no one wants to give me quests. Do I need a certain rep with BB first?

There is an unmentioned prerequisite to this quest, which may explain why the professor won't give it to you. Especially if you come into the area in your 40s, you may miss (Quest #663) from the ogre (NPC #2766). It's the prerequisite for the other quests in the cove, but since it's just a level 35, Lolo may not have the "!".

Before you can get this quest (and many others in the area) you first have to get a quest "Land Ho!" from Lolo the lookout (The ogre) who asks you to talk to Shakes O'Breen

I tried to solo this at level 39 Warrior. I took out the two fine, close but no problem. Then I turned around and two more were on me. Of course, the second pair finished me off easily. Very annoying.

I tested this quest with my level 6o Hunter and had to kill only the two, so it seems that if you don't kill them fast enough, they will keep spawning. That's kinda mean and sadistic.

As a 36 firemage
Had to pull the guys out & have the pirates fight them- even just the hits they got in while running down to the pirates almost killed me. Only the blackwater deckhands will aggro, so its a bit of a run while they're both trying to frost nova you.
The prof won't die fighting one of them for a few min, but he will if you let him fight both. Learned this after dying twice trying to get both of them at once(for some reason they really like fighting the prof!). Instead I used fire blast on one of them, blinked down to the blackwater raiders, and ran back up and did the same thing with the other one. Once I figured that out wasn't nearly so difficult.

Careful as they like to use frost nova, and seem to be resistant to fire and arcane (or it could just have been my lower level).

PITA for my 41 frost mage since the WE's are immune to all frost spells. Did it by AoE'ing the two water elementals (Arcane Explosion, +18 Arcane Dmg) till dead, using Ice Barrier, Mana Shield, and Ice Block as necessary. By the time they were dead, Pizzle had finished and was running out, so no second wave.
