Attack on the Tower

Find Trelane's Phylactery, Trelane's Orb, and Trelane's Ember Agate, and return them to Skuerto at Refuge Pointe.
Trelane's Phylactery
Trelane's Orb
Trelane's Ember Agate

Description

Here's what your lookin' for: Trelane's phylactery, Trelane's orb, an' Trelane's ember agate.

All three should be in chests within the tower an' you shouldn't have a problem opening the chests on your own; you just have to be careful of the ogres.

The tower's defenses won't take care of 'em on their own; you'll need to have your weapons at the ready. Those ogres find out you're there and stealing from 'em, an' they'll be sure to put the hurt on you.

Be careful, an' good luck.

For me, this went exactly as scoolio described, except that I died the fourth time before I could get out and get away. ^_^ Just make sure that each time you die, you're somewhere inside the tower. This could be fought with a full party of mid-40's or three lvl 50's, but at 48 this quest was gray and I didn't get squat for xp. The reward hardly covered the equipment repair costs, so this was a serious waste of time. >_>

1st stair landing - 18,68 Phylactery
2nd floor - 18,67 Ember Agate
3rd floor - 18,69 Orb

If you use the tower's defenses you can pretty safely sneak all the way up to the 3rd floor and work your way down, be quick about it and you should be fine. =)

I went up and down the tower without noticing the first chest: Trelane's Phylactery. Some players complained too they couldnt find it. The thing is that usually you are being chased by several ogres so you dont take the time to look around. If you die, then thats the time to locate the three chests.

A tip: dont use the azure agate. It will attract like 5 ogres to the entrance, its better to go inside and kill them one by one.

If you are dead inside the tower you can rez in any floor you like.

Ogres respawn fast in this area. Go straight to the tower. Best way is taking the second road right. You end up at the right flank of the tower. There in the corner, its possible to jump and get to the tower, it will take you like 20 seconds jumping, but it works.
Also, you can jump to the tower from a broken house on the left side.

Usually, you die several times before completing this quest. I completed at level 36.

DO NOT activate the tower defenses, it will only make the quest more difficult.

If you ignore the tower defense pedestal you will only have to fight at most two ogres at the same time as you make your way up the tower and there will be no need to corpse run.

If you want to get to the tower without having to fight the ogres, then look for the high ledge on your left as you pass under the huge archway leading to the ogre infested area. If you jump up on it you can hug the keep wall until you reach the tower without catching any aggro. This ledge will meet with the back side of the tower and form a sharp crease which you can use to get back up on the ledge again and shake any aggro if you decide to make a run out of the tower.

(If you decide to activate the tower defenses, you will attract up to six ogres at once inside the tower even with the protective elementals spawned to help you. Brilliant work by the Blizzard quest design team.)

For anyone who wants them the coords for the boxes are:
Box #1 - 18.2, 68.1 - it is off the walk way on a platform next to the wall.

Box#2 - 18.0, 67.9 - this one is next to the wall also

Box#3 - 18.2, 69.2 - again next to the wall

The boxes are very small and do not look like chests at all. When I died I just went to the next box and rez-ed at it. As a druid, at level 42, it was easy enough for me to solo; when you pop to elf form return back to cat and stealth as quickly as you can.

If you're a druid, this can be done easily solo using your prowling capability!

I did this alone (lvl 44 night elf druid), as follows:

Walk into Stormgarde and turn right, then left, then shapeshift into cat form and prowl. Keep going straight and then you see the first ogres. This place is FULL of ogres, but you can walk past them easily prowling. Enter the tower and go to the top floor.

You will see the chest lying down and only one ogre around. Don't think that this is the only ogre you'll have to face though! As soon as you open the chest, 5-6 ogres are running to you, out of nowhere! So before shapeshifting to your normal form again, examine the ogre's movements to see his route, and wait for the proper time where he is the farthest awaw from the chest.

At that moment, shapeshift to normal form, open the chest, get the item, go back into cat form and prowl as quick as you can!

If you do all of this quickly, you'll enter the prowling state when all the ogres are really close to you, running to kill you. The good thing is that once you prowl, they stop, they can't see you at all, and you can even walk among them to go to the lower level.

In this level, the same applies. One ogre and one chest, do the procedure as fast as you can and you'll be prowling a breath away from all the ogres.

The last one is the most tricky one, since it's on a small place in the ladders. There are three ogres guarding around and you must examine their movements and routes to judge when the proper time is. The first time I didn't manage to open the box and died. Then I ressurected right next to it, carefully examined their routes and managed to get the item right before they were about to attack. Then I jumped down, walked all the way out of the Keep and the quest's done!

I don't know what that azure thing they give you is for. I didn't activate it.

This quest gave me 3000 XP, and the next one in chain is only to deliver an item in SW, which gave me another 3500 XP. So I got 2 XP bars quite easily!

Good luck!

P.S.: The exact coordinates for the 3 items are mentioned in a post by some other user earlier in this page.

I tried the repetitive dieing approach. It worked even better than above. I bubbled standing on a raised section just diagonally across from the tower with divine shield (10s) and ran into the tower. I didn't see the first crate and ended up running past it up to the 2nd floor. At that point all the mob chasing me had given up. I accidentally aggro'd the ogre that is very near the 2nd crate (I could've avoided that if I'd been thinking faster) but by healing I was able to dispatch him without too much difficulty. Then I opened the crate and immediately ran up to the top floor. I lost all the newly spawned mob by doing that so I could immediately open the 3rd crate. At that point I tried to lose them by dropping all the way down the tower. I'm not sure how many lost but I think I still had several one me at the bottom of the tower. I didn't really try very hard to stay alive but I doubt I would have managed it if I had. So as a ghost I ran back in, found the crate I'd missed (took a bit of looking). Respawned by it, opened it immediately and then immediately ran out of the tower and bubbled as I left. That let me escape all the way to the alliance section with only the final ogre right by that section still aggroing me. Since I had plenty of mana I healed myself and killed him off (without any help from those lazy alliance soldiers I might add - they ignored the hulking great ogre in the middle of their camp!).

So one death and only 2 ogre kills (ignoring the several I killed to get near the tower) to quickly get all the items as a lvl 44 palladin is a resounding success.

-Druid lvl 42-

Very easy to do for druids - in cat form with prowling

What i did :

Sneaked into the tower, killed the mobs inside, even&nbsp on the top floor.

Afer that I looted the second chest, by doing that some mobs spawned(See questlog) and starting running towards me.
I'd go in catform again and prowled.. no problems.

After that I looted the chest on top floor, same tactic.

And last I looted the first chest, same tactic again.
No probs doing that, didnt die at all , didnt use defenses.

All you have to do is following this intructions and you will succeed.
Just do it quick )

just a little sidenote: as you go down the ramp by the trolls entering the part with the ogres, there is a little post on the right hand sid with a kind of straw X on it, if you jump onto the ledge right by there you can cruise all the way round to the tower without the hassle of killing all the ogres on the way to it...

Azure Agate is a one time use item so use it wisely.

When you use the Azure Agate on the device outside of the tower several water elementals will be summoned outside and through out the Tower. They won't last long though.

Since I couldn't find anybody to help me do this part I just would die in tower then go revive next to each chest when it was unguarded and loot it then die again from the ogres that appeared after you loot each chest. Each chest is on a different floor of the tower.

the tower is in the far right back corner of stromgarde, near where you were killing shamans for the agate. its got 2 ogres guarding the door, cant miss it.

use cat form, stealth all the way through to the top.
(DO NOT OPEN THE FIRST TWO CHESTS!)
get to the top chest and go night elf. wait a second, open the chest, grab the loot, then QUICKLY cat form and stealth. the summoned ogres run around in circles looking for you, so if youre nervous sneak back into a corner and wait for a clear path to the second floor.

do the same for each chest and waltz right on out!

if i can do this at 41, anyone can.

This quest is rather simple if U R equal in level to the mobs If U R not U may have a greater agro radius and that could be a problem. All that you need to do is come in the the entrance of the area that the ogres occupy within the destroyed keep. Jump up on the rail to the left and run around to the keep. Jump down and run inside and get killed. come back and recon the place in order to find the boxes. Once you find the boxes you can rez next to each in succession, get the item die, come back and do the next one. Not too Heroic, bit it does let U solo the thing.

I passed the first chest (didn't see it) and whent for the second.
When the ogres came I was already on my way to the third floor - and they didn't follow.
I took the third chest - and jumped before the ogres reached me. They didn' follow.
Finally I toke the first chest, jumped to the bottom floor and left the building.

Those 'summond' ogres seamed rather stupid :-)

I am new to the game so its not my experience that allowed me to complete it, I used the gap in the wall which has been described above, I then ran round the inside of the wall till i was at the tower, dropped down and killed a ogre, then killed the 2 guard ogres, and I was in. I also missed the first box, i killed the mobs that spawn when u open the 2nd box however just jumped from the top when I opened the 3rd, saving me time from having to fight. to get out I used shield and ran out and then back on my self till i was as close to external wall as possible, then let ogres kill me. I ran back as a ghost but stayed on the outside of the wall and res'ed. This took me less than 10 mins to complete.

1) Walk in to tower frontage and get to first chest and die.

2) Come back and res right next to chest when orgres are furthest away. Loot chest and die again.

3) Walk back as spirit and res by second chest.

4) Rinse, lather, repeat.

5) Got whole quest done alone and only died three times. Could never find a group to do this the right way so it had to be done this way as a solo mage.

This is a really really crude way of doing it but it works with a little bit of patience.

Grab a few potions and make a run for it lol. You can cut straight to the tower without fighting if you walk the ledge. Right before you go down the ramp towards the ogres theres a iron cross kinda looking thing on the right. Jump up and run all the way to the tower. You can run basically to the top if possible.

Rez and make your way back to the top of the tower. Get to the very top and rez next to the first chest. If you can feign do so if not jump down to the next chest and get slaughtered all over again. Rinse and repeat.

The bottom chest requires a little bit of timing. Wait till both the ogres start walking away. Once they're far enough away clicky clicky make a run for it.

Once you do that you can either run towards the guards on the alliance side of the keep or resurrect at the spirit healer.

Nice xp and easy follow-up quest.

At first, I went around the ledge, got to the tower, then (stupidly) tried to take on one of the Lords (42 feral druid). It worked pretty well until his health went up to full instantly after I backed up into a corner. I decided to make a run for it, and got almost inside before getting owned. I went back as wisp, and decided to try catstealthing. It worked pretty well. I got inside the tower and started up the ramp before I noticed an orge was coming down. I nearly jumped out of my skin and mashed the s key. I was so focused on staying away that I almost ran into the other one coming down the other ramp. I "ran" (stealthed i guess) back to the other one and followed him up. I found the first chest and waited until the scary orges were all gone. I unstealthed and immediately had an Orge Lord on me. I ran, all the way up the tower, where i got hit by a lightning bolt and died. But then (gasp!) I noticed that my wrists had turned yellow! The horror! I decided I would go back there, and repair bills be damned. I went up to the top, and rezzed between the two guys. Cat form, stealth, wait until that damn shammy walked away, then got chest and catstealthed because I had read that here. Then the Orges all showed up, and I passed the time waiting for the shammy to give me a clear shot at the way down by finding room in my inventory for my armor, which I didn't want to mess up mor than I already had. (almost done. damn this is a long post.) I went down as soon as I had a chance, got to the 2nd one and did the unstealth loot cat restealth thing again, but this time there was one right on me. I wondered how the hell I was going to get out of this, but then (again) I saw this person (not sure what race or anything, just someone) running around, clearly either a bored 70 or on the same quest. The orges all went after him, and I jumped down and ran to the next chest, which I got easily and then catstealthed out of there. Outside, I saw a bunch of dead Ogres and some ? Hordies running around. I /lolled and /bowed, then ran out of there and turned in the quest.

This quest is easy if all the players in your group have decent reflexes.

Each chest you loot spawns 3 to 5 elite ogres. Remember, though: You aren't locked in combat when the ogres spawn. They charge toward the chest. Therefore, if you can escape before they see you, you needn't fight them, at ALL.

See where this is going?

I did this solo with my level 45 Paladin, and my only death was fighting the pair of Boulderfist Lords at the tower entrance. One got lucky with back-to-back criticals, and my heal spell didn't fire off in time. Not a big deal. I didn't need Lay on Hands, though there were fights that took both BoP and Divine Shield.

Here's a quick walkthrough. Read this BEFORE you try it, so that you'll know what you're up against! Some of these moves require VERY precise timing to execute properly.

1. Start with the MIDDLE chest.

Find it on a landing about halfway up. It's called Trelane's Lockbox or something like that. Clear all ogres around and below it before you open it.

a. Once it's open, 4 ogres appear, 2 on each side. They charge toward the chest. IMMEDIATELY pick one side and charge the two ogres, then keep charging past them while they follow. Pull them as far away from the other two as possible, preferably down a couple levels. Don't worry if you fall, the damage won't be more than 20% of your health, and you can fight them on the ground floor.

b. Dispatch them, then deal with the other two. If you did this right, you only fight two at a time. The fights are about equally hard.

c. Repeat until everybody has looted.

2. Second, do the TOP chest. This one is actually easier solo, for reasons that I'll get to shortly.

a. Make sure everything is cleared, all the way to the top of the tower, before you loot the top chest. This time, face the middle of the tower when you loot the chest. SIX ogres appear, three on each side. Now you have two options:

Option (1). If you're in a full party, you can beat them three at a time in an identical fashion to the middle chest. Pull one side of Ogres to the opposite end of the tower. Remember, they're charging toward the chest, so pull by circling PAST them, toward the wall that's OPPOSITE the lockbox. Fight there. You should only have to fight three at a time. It's hard, but feasible with a good group. Repeat until everybody has the item.

Option (2). If you're solo, the moment the ogres appear, charge the center of the room, and fall all the way to the bottom. If you move quickly enough, they will never aggro, and you will never have to fight any of them. This is the option I did.

3. Do the BOTTOM chest LAST. The reason is that there's NO way to avoid pulling aggro from ALL the ogres who appear on this one. There are three or four of them, making a difficult fight. DONT FIGHT THEM. Run out! Have your tank go first, so that he pulls all the aggro. Bring a potion just in case. You might want to heal your tank a couple of times, also, because you're running a gauntlet past at least six enemies. Keep running until you leave Stromgarde Keep. If you die, so what? You're done!
