Only One May Rise

Return the Head of the Broodlord Lashlayer to Baristolth of the Shifting Sands at Cenarion Hold in Silithus.
Head of the Broodlord Lashlayer

Description

There is no time to waste! A hero must be found! The task I give will require an army to complete but only one may rise from the throng of would be champions to take on the burden and responsibility of an ally of the Brood.

Within the lair of the Lord of Blackrock is a most cruel beast. The Broodlord Lashlayer guards the Halls of Strife, blocking the way into Nefarian's inner sanctum. Slay the foul aberration and return his head to me. Do this and you may begin the next step of your journey.

Just to clarify everything:

You must have the quest to loot the head.

Even on master loot, the person who has the quest can loot it.

Only 1 person in the raid can loot the head per week, once it is looted, there are no more for other people.

the quest turn-in is in silithus

turning in the head gets you [Agent of Nozdormu]
which allows you to loot silithis carapaces from the elite bugs from the hives.

turning in 200 at a time will get you 200 brood rep

this is repeatable and you may "deputize" anybody on your server, as long as they are on your horde/alliance side. whoever is deputized may loot the carapaces just like you, but they may not turn them in for rep.

you need the head to be able to turn in carapaces for rep

For a MMORPG, I start feeling this game gets really linear compared to other games. Just like in the old games like Super Mario, you have to clear one level before you can proceed to another. In recent years, RPG games have usually given the player the choice to do things in the order they prefer.

In WoW, you'll increase your player's powers like this.

1) Level 1-60
2) Grind Scholomance, UBRS and Stratholme for the first rare class set.
3) Grind Alterac Valley for reputation so you get new weapons / rings.
4) Grind Molten Core for the first epic class set.
5) Grind Onyxia, Ragnaros and BWL for the second epic set.
6) Grind Silithus and AQ for reputation with the Brood.
7) Grind AQ for quest items for the third epic set.
(...)
?) Do it all over again with Blood Elves or Pandas(?).

Getting an alt is not just leveling it to 60. That's just the beginning, and at least it offers the choice to kill what you want, where you want. At least WoW has endgame content, but not independent endgame content. Sure, you can replace 4) and 5) with honor farming for High Warlord, but you'd still be gimped compared to the tier 2 geared players.

The quest itself is quite hard to finish on your own so make sure that you get some friends to help every time you go farming for fragments.

Fragments themselves drop on stacks of 2-3 from the silithist at the hives in silithus.

This quest is also the only way to raise your reputation with brood of nozdormu other than Ahn'Qiraj raiding

Apologies if I'm being thick, but you're saying that in order to be able to get Nozdormu reputation, you have to have looted the head of Broodlord Lashlayer in BWL first? Even as a deputy, you can't gain any Nozdormu faction?

If that's the case, it would seem Blizz are trying to tell us, in the most unsubtle way, to stay clear of the 40-man AQ until you're comfortable raiding BWL!

Since when has "Elite" been bad?&nbsp Are we all billionaires?&nbsp Millionaires?....Hell are we all out of debt even?&nbsp NO.

Theres tons of content out there for the soloers and the small group types.&nbsp You have to rise to be the best in that area if you want to get into the raids.&nbsp The fact of the matter is, the Quest this thread is all about, says it perfectly.&nbsp "Only One May Rise"

So if you want to actually get to this quest, get into the game.&nbsp Your life doesnt have circulate around this game to get here.&nbsp This game is just a new extension to your social life.&nbsp Whether you play poker every Friday night or you Raid MC and BWL, its the same thing.

So on to my question...

You can get this quest at Hated, right?

and if you go to aq40 you get about 100 brood rep a kill, but only until neutral. save the artifacts and such you get from bosses and hand them in after neutral, revered in no time then.

Your rep with the Brood of Nozdormu starts at Hated. As you do this repeatable quest, your rep goes up obviously. It seems to make sense that, once you reach a certain level of reputation, a new quest will be available to you, or maybe various items. The reputation is obviously used for something.

This quest leads up to one hell of a rep grind. The rep level you want to reach is neutral (yes, only neutral), but to get there takes 42,000 Silithid Carapaces. So you can see why getting those seals or whatnot to make other people deputies is so important, since it would be near impossible for a single person to get that much by themselves.

Anyway, upon reaching neutral, you do a few more things, mostly just talking I think, and after everything is said and done, you can trigger a cutscene showing how they closed the scarab wall (you have to be at the wall to see it).

This has already been achieved on a few servers, one of which was mine today (suramar). One of the alliance guilds had everything ready and told everyone to come to the gates at 12:30 server time to see the event. About 200-300 people showed up, with some morons flagging every now and then. Unforutantly, the person responsible for triggering the cutscene kept crashing (P.O.S. computer ftl!) and they called it off, saying it would happen instead at noon. Well, this ended up being a big FU to the server, and they triggered the event instead at 9 am.

Not all is lost if you haven't *yet* done BWL (either by choice, ie. hate raiding, or have yet to get there).&nbsp If you get yourself "deputized" - which requires speaking with someone who has looted the Broodlord Head during one of the BWL raids, you can collect Silithid Carapace Fragments and A) Hold onto them for later on when you get high enough to do BWL and complete the Broodhord Looting quest - then you can turn them in for a bucket load of Noz rep (these things stack to 200, drop like flies off the Hive bugs, and are *not* soulbound, so you can mail them to alts, etc. B) Sell them (like Twilight Texts).&nbsp Now on my Server there isnt much of a market yet for these, but as more and more ppl start taking seriously Noz rep, every little bit is going to help... so you can eventually turn these in for cash if you put them up on the AH.

One nice aspect of all this - either planned by Blizz, or an unintentional sideeffect, is that only those folks deputized will be able to "farm" these... which usually means fellow Guildmembers and *not* people with names like LONGLOVE.

Its still a wicked grind - as with all these faction quests - but if you remember its the "journey" and not the destination, then you will get the point of these MMORPGs and have fun along the way.

The first (yellow) post is accurate, appart from the rumours part, which is wrong. This means you dont need to be an agent in order to enter AQ40 or 20, you can just enter after the gate opens, provided you are over lvl 50 or 51 (cant remember the exact requirement) and you are in a raid.

Also the post above me that says you can become an agent with some random quest (he doesnt say which quest after all so go figure... ) is to my knowledge wrong, the only way is to either complete this quest with the head of broodlord (3rd BWL boss) or someone else to make you agent and that someone must be the person who started the quest after having looted the head of broodlord .

Ok most of these posts were pre AQ speculation. And a weird digression of course...

Now I am in a BWL raiding guild. I have been 'deputized' and have thousands of these fragments in my bank, from the opening event and while doing cc Combat badge quests since. I will eventually get the broodlords head and be able to turn these in. We have also started doing AQ40 and the trash mobs are worth a TON of rep. 100 per kill.

So heres my question: which, if either, will run out first? Will I stop getting rep for trash mobs at a certain level? Will I stop getting rep for fragment turnins at a particular level? I am trying to figure out the best way to maximize my brood rep. You need a lot of it for the set pieces...

I would grind silithid caraspace fragments until I'm exalted if it didn't require the head of the broodlord. Blizzard really makes it tough for soloers out there, but I could kind of understand why. Not only do you have to be 1 out of 40 people (2.5% chance) in a guild that has the capability to make it pass the 3rd boss in BWL, but you also have to do the long process of grinding (which is the easy part IMO since I could do it alone), then you'd have to get epics from the bosses in AQ40 as a part of the "recipe" for your tier 3 set. This ain't easy for people that don't let their life revolve around WoW :(.

I hope Blizzard makes something more worthwhile for soloers out there. I don't care if it's hard or takes a long time etc. Some people just don't have the energy to enter a kinship, obligate themselves to raids, fight amongst each other for the loot, etc. Battlegrounds is the next best place out there, but it's infested with premades that hold each others hands through everything wit their flashy tier 2 sets. Maybe something around tier .5 to 1.5 would be nice to get on your own, but that aint gonna happen. Oh well.

Its used for epic and rare (most are epic) class items and armor sets which you have to be at a certain rep level to attain: neutral, friendly, etc. each grant you a new class item/set.&nbsp I have seen info on them and they are pretty great.

Probably also for enchantments and profession recipes, though I can't say for sure.

But I am unclear on faction here...are you telling me ONLY the person who won the roll on the head gets faction from the carapace turn-ins?&nbsp Or everyone who was in the successful BWL raid?&nbsp A guild needs to do BWL 40 times for all members to get the brood badge?

Edit: I think I got it, even though one person gets the head, all raid members get "credit".&nbsp Its assumed the one person who gets the proxy deputizes guild/raidmates and those who were in the successful broodlord raid get credit for silithid turn-ins...

Just trying to understand this clearly - so deputies can get reputation IN ADDITION TO the person who looted the head?

EDIT - Seems that the deputies can't get turn-in reputation, however everyone can get Nozdormu rep from AQ.

Yes only one head drops per raid kill the head is needed to continue in the questline which will eventually lead to the reforging of the scepter of the shifting sands to open the gate to AQ after the war effort is complete.
