Desert Recipe

Look for information about cooking Sandworm Meat at the Twilight's Hammer camp west of Cenarion Hold.

Description

Adapting to life in the desert has been difficult to say the least. Not only do I miss the birds and trees of Auberdine but our food selection is severely limited by this arid environment. I'm trying to learn about desert herbs, but there aren't many.

I've seen Twilight's Hammer groups from the camp west of here hunt sandworms for food. Sandworm meat is so bitter though, I can't imagine how they make it palatable. Keep your eyes open if you go to their camp and let me know if you learn anything.

Get 10 sandworm meats ready before turning in the next quest. The final quest in the series, Kitchen Assistance, requires you to cook. You need 10 sandworm meats and 10 soothing spices. Sandworm meat drops of Dredge Striker and Dredge Crusher all over Silithus. Soothing spice can be bought from the General Trade Good vendor near the horde flight path.

If you gather 15 meats total, you'll be able to bring your cooking to level 300 and never have to bother with the Dredge Strikers or Crushers again.

If you're 70 (or close to it) there's an alternative to either learning and leveling fishing or buying the fish from the AH to get those last skill levels in cooking (275-300). Go visit Dire Maul for Recipe: Runn Tum Tuber Surprise. Runn Tum Tubers, used for the recipe, are really easy to get your hands on at higher (aggro-free) levels and the recipe stays red until 300 as well. That means you don't even have to go pick up this quest. :)

I started the quest with a 300 cooking, ended up with a 310. At 310 it is still orange so will still be able to get many uses from it though I do hate hunting those worms.

Since 2.4 with the new recipes http://classicdb.ch/?item=35566 and http://classicdb.ch/?item=35564 you can level up cooking without fishing.
Btw the recipes are sold by Bale (H)(http://classicdb.ch/?npc=2806) and Malygen (A) (http://classicdb.ch/?npc=2803) in Felwood.

Go down the path from Cenarion Hold and approach the Twilight Base Camp from the EAST.

If you press M for your map, your pointer on the map should be facing East towards the camp.&nbsp

Your back should be against the Wind Stone.

The recipe should be right there on a crate.

TIP: Mobs are 58+ plus and patrol a lot. Be careful!

This quest has become much easier with 2.3. The book to complete the quest shows up on both your screen and minimap with a '?'. I killed 4 Twilight mobs and had a clear path to the book.

With the new recepies of Bear Flank you can raise your Cooking to 295, then it turns grey (turns green at 285 so start grinding those bears) so you still have to do this q to get to 300+ without using fishing =/

37,45

I approached the camp from the west side - at 36,42 you are able to see the scroll (in book form at this time) on some crates (37,45). I'm level 56 so i just ran in a grabbed it (clicked complete and accept).

Unfortunately i didn't get to read anything. I assume the second part of text (after clicking complete) was the next stage of the quest as dictated in my quest log.

The enemy mobs here may seem friendly, like they want to play throw and catch - but they sure aren't throwing leather balls at you..

When you search for the book, be sure you are at Twilight Base Camp (between Cenarion Hold and the Alliance Encampment at Hive'Zora) and NOT at Twilight Post (west of Cenarion Hold) like I was, wasting a lot of time before I figured there was another camp.

I did this quest as a level 54 mage.

Stand with your back to the rock cluster that is directly in front of the western ramp into the camp. You can arrow over the crates in the tent and see cog for the&nbsp book from safety. Now you know directly where to go

Kill the level 58 Avenger on the ramp. I had combustion on, and pyroblasted him. He is dark orange not red at this level. Watch out for the Avenger also level 58 that circles the camp.

Mana shield, run in , read book (make sure instant quest text is ON in options), turn in quest, accept the new quest to take the torn sheet back to town then skeddadle. There is a bad guy in the tent but the mana shield reflected all blows. Another ran out too, so I had two chasing me back to town. But I am 300/300 Retreat :)

Hope this helps.

I searched around the twilight camp that is due west of Cenarion Hold for a long time before I gave up and came here to find out where the cookbook was.

"Southwest" would have made a better description for the quest text.

It's good to do this quest before doing Securing the Supply Lines, as the Dredge Stalkers drop the meat you need to make this recipe (and to complete the followup quests).

Info correct. 37.45. West side of camp. On top of box, under a tent.
To left of tent is a "Wind Stone" for summoning Dukes? Not a good idea if not ready for it.

Camp is slightly SW of Cenarion Hold. Go out of western entrance of Cenarion Hold. Follow road, but when it curves, you keep going straight and see camp. Circle around to it's western entrance.

300 XP at level 56.

Get some money too and new quest Sharing The Knowledge. Just take recipe back to Calandrath in Cenarion Hold.

Get 6000 XP and more money. And another quest: Kitchen Assistance.

It's not very clear at the time, but it seems that the moment you steal the page from the cookbook, you also learn the recipe (if it is possible for you to do so). It's quite confusing when you get the next quest asking you to MAKE the food, but you weren't really notified that you learned how.

It is clear actually, when you turn the quest in, it says in the chat window that you have learned a new recipe, learned how to make Smoked Desert Dumplings. That is what you then need to make for the next part of the quest.

You will find the book at the Twiligth Base Camp at 37.45. Accept Sharing Knowlege. Turn in the Torn Recipe Page to the Inn Keeper. She will give you the quest Kitchen Assistance and you will automatically learn to make the Smoked Desert Dumplings. I killed the Dredge Crusher for the Sandworm Meat. You will need 10 of those and 10 Soothing Spices. And you all set:)Hope this helps some of you:)
