Description

Yet another ship from my fleet has been lost to those overzealous humans at Northwatch Hold!

Those bastards must be dealt with. Their paranoia has them in a state of frenzy. Trigger happy, reckless louts are shooting at anything in their sights.

Travel south along the Merchant Coast to the Hold and lay siege to their forces. Bring me the medals of their soldiers as proof. And for the love of my fleet, slay Captain Fairmount and her overzealous cannoneers!

I found this quest to be really easy. Make your way to Northwatch and go up the pathway you see. You'll go pass a few buildings, and you will see a ramp leading upwards. The first tower on your left will have Captain Fairmount in it. Kill him and continue on the ramp. You will then see two other towers, one to your left and one to your far right. Both of these hold the other 2 Cannoneers you need to slay. Be sure to loot the regular mobs you kill, they are the ones that contain the medals!

Also, once you have completed this quest, be sure to visit the first tower again, and talk to the prisoner at the bottom of the tower. You will be able to accept an escort quest, "Free From the Hold" https://classicdb.ch/?quest=898, where you will have to lead him all the way back to Ratchet. This was also easy, and landed me around 2,000 experience @ level 19.

Killing humans is fun. They try to run when they are almost dead and my pet enjoys that certain thrill of the hunt. Well, this one was easy, just time consuming. Lots of humanoids to kill which means you get a lot of Linen Cloth and some wool. Just head to Northwatch as the quest info indicates and by the time you get inside the area you'll have over half of your Theramore Medals. That was rather easy to get. As you go in killing and raping the humans you'll see a path that goes uphill. The first stop will be the first tower you see. I found Captain Fairmount there at the top of the tower. He pleaded for mercy but the nasty Troll in me stuck one last arrow into his neck and pushed him over the side. Exit this tower and keep going uphill. Again you need to fight to get inside and I found Cannoneer Smythe in this tower. Exit this one and head toward the same direction you came from and you'll see the third tower. Same drill of murdering and mayhem. At this tower I found my last contract, Cannoneer Whessan. Ok, so now all this is done and you need to fight your way back to Ratchet. Simple and quick.

My result:
You gain 1550 experience.
Your reputation with Ratchet has increased.

The medals have either a really high drop rate or a 100% drop rate when you have the appropriate quest. Everytime I've done the quest, I've had at least two other people with me, and by the time we had killed the three leaders for this quest, we'd already gotten all of the medals we needed.

Also note that in the first tower you encoutner after entering Northwatch, there will be a Blood Elf (https://classicdb.ch/?npc=3465) that wants you to escort him back to Ratchet. It is suggested that you wait to do the escort until after you have killed all three leaders. If you enter the tower and do not see the Blood Elf, someone else is currently doing the quest (https://classicdb.ch/?quest=898), so you'll have to wait.

Exploit has never been fixed.&nbsp You can come over mountain to the west of Northwatch Hold.&nbsp You should be looking at the western wall.&nbsp Drop down between the wall and the mountain, follow north to the edge.&nbsp If you look east, there's a climbable ledge with a single guard.&nbsp That's a back entrance that takes you to the last tower of the quest objective.&nbsp The mobs are really light in this area, as the majority are centered at the MAIN entrance.

Stupidly hard quest for casters at the level it becomes available at, Died 15 times before giving up, typically packs of 3 x level 16 mobs, 2 x melee that silences with shield slam almost continuously, and a caster that can heal to full, and then they run off and get friends at low hit points. Don't bother unless you are a melee class.

To top it off NPCs at the bottom of the tower can aggro you while you are at the top and hit you from 20 yards away.

Soloed at 21 with a Tauren Druid. Basically cat form and prowl to each tower, and kill what is at the top. For Captain Fairmount, there are 3 extra marines at the top so they had to die first. The captain and each of her cannoneers in the other towers also have a healer linked to them so it is a good idea to kill the healers first, then the boss. Came away with 9 medallions just asassinating the leaders and their guards. One more random marine and prowl off into the night.

Ok, i'm not gonna bash anyone here, but i'm lvl 18 rogue, i solo'd this quest, didn't die once. Anyone who says it cannot be done has no concept of crowd control or has never been to northwatch and doesn't know where the mobs are. Simple quest takes patience, took me about 30 minutes to do this cause i was stealthed the whole time. I'm not a pro, hell i'm barely new to the game and have never played a rogue, but i'm not stupid either, for those of you complaining and shouting Lies! LIES! just because you can't do it, doesn't mean it can't be done. I've seen some whacky stuff that i NEVER would have thought possible so don't say that anything is impossible just because its difficult.

Stealthed in sap'd the cloth wearers, killed the cannoneers then owned the cloth wearers.

Stealthed in, saped one gaurd, sleeped the other with slumber dust, killed the captain, turned on evasion and speed and ran out.

Escaped with 30% health.

Just a quick note, Captain Fairmount is at the top of the first tower you will come to in Northwatch Hold. The good captain is sometimes hiding next to a box (I think she heard I was coming) and is difficult to see. Just look for the only healer, Captain Fairmount will be close behind.

I read the comments by the poster claiming this could not be solo'ed and he certainly seemed sincere, but if you are like me then when someone says something cannot be done the first thing you want to do is try it.&nbsp Well I can report that all three towers can certainly be soloed with some patience and decent pulling for almost any class with healing, stealth or good crowd control (or any combination of the three).

I just soloed it with my LVL 20 Priest and had few problems.&nbsp This is not to say that it was not challenging at moments and that it was risk free, but with the judicious use of sooth mind, planning my battlefield carefully by quickly clearing areas mobs would have been likely to reach while running if untended, using mind flay to control runners when possible I was able to do it.&nbsp Without dying... (though running and jumping off cliffs happened a couple of times after aggroing too many marines).

It is not that I don't believe you when you say not one of your friends did it solo ... it is just that perhaps you group of friends needs expansion.&nbsp I hate to say this, but most players out there do not fully appreciate the abilities of any class, though many have played more than a few.

Well more power to the doubter skepticism has a fine tradition behind it. )

I did this quest solo as level 17 tauren druid. All I did was bear form and I could swipe through 2 guards at a time. 3 if one is a healer. It took patience and I died once in the westernmost tower because I wasn't paying attention to my health, but just smash and heal and it takes no time at all. EZ. RAWR

Did this with my lvl 20 mage solo. I suggest a healer or 2+ people. I managed it, but died a lot. Captain Fairmount was probably the toughest out of the lot. Just take your time and watch for respawns and pulls.

If you are going to die, run back to a place where you can pickup and carry on with the q. For the more than 1 person pulls, polymorph really came in handy. Just keep a level head, focus, and be patient. In all, I had a lot of fun playing it. All humans should die.

The below info really helped.

There's a back door to Northwatch that allows you to approach the top two towers first, then the lower tower, without going through the bazillions of bad guys at the main entrance.

The same back door can be used to get to the Stolen Silver at the Raptor Nest, which is located just behind Northwatch.

To get to the back door you have too climb the mountain that overlooks the Raptor Nest. The only way up is to climb up the southern slope.

Solo'd, level 19 orc rogue.

Killed a few guards to get my ten medals, which was easy. Then I stealthed into the towers.
The Captain and two Cannoneers have a guard with them, so I sapped the guard, killed the named guy and then killed his guard.
At one point I thought I was gunna die, so I used evasion and a healing potion. Other than that it went fine :)

I got 3 bars rested XP from killing things, and 1550 XP for handing the quest in.

Oh, and I found a Small Lustrous Pearl on Cannoneer Whessan.

Solo'd it as a 19 Pally. Was fairly easy, never died, did have to bubble heal a couple times when I had 3 on me....green or not, they *do* hit hard. The two most bothersome things were that pesky disarm and the lady healers - always kill them first. All in all, one of my favorite solo challenges - have solo'd it as a priest, pally, hunter, mage, and warlock so far....

Still haven't managed to complete this, though I think I last tried at 19 (halfway to 22 now). I can handle the paladins pretty easily, even 2 or 3 at the same time, but when there are like 2 paladins and 1 healer, they take me out. Maybe I should go for the healers first.

I even found a back door that I think someone already mentioned. Walked all the way along the coast from ratchet to the SE corner of the Hold, even accidentally stumbled into Dustwallow Marsh for the first time. Found a gap in the wall, took out the first few paladins I ran into, but got slaughtered when I went into (what I assume was) the last tower.

It's easy, soloed at 20 with 19 pet, maybe caus eit was that rare spawn raptor it helped. I could easily kill 3 at a time, using multi shot, and pet to distract one. Got Ring of Strength off Fairmount. +4 to it. Disenchanted and got 3 Strange Dust. Easy quest, medals mostly easy. Ive seen 18s and lower solo, and two 15s do it fine.
