The Barrens Port

Speak with Wharfmaster Dizzywig in Ratchet.

Description

Ratchet is the only port in the Barrens. Most likely Velinde found a trading vessel in Ratchet to take her to Blackwater Cove in Azeroth. We've had limited dealings with the goblins that run the port, but the master of the dock should have information about the comings and goings of ship passengers.

Follow the road southeast through Ashenvale and you will find yourself in the Barrens. Watch your step, <name>, warriors of the Horde patrol the land. You will be safe at the port, though.

you kno you can just take the ship to menethil from auberdine, then from menethil take the ship to theramore in dustwallow right? then from there swim north and you'll get there in like 5 minutes...

The quickest way to go there is through Theramore(to walk/swim north to Rachet from Theramore).

Taken for granted that you are now at Darnassus, in order to go to Theramore, you need to

either go to Auberdine -> Menethil -> Theramore using the boats

OR

if you have the Azhara fight path, fly Darnassus -> Auberdine -> Astranaar(Ashenvale) -> Azhara -> Theramore.

Take the Southfury river which is to the right of the Warsong lumber camp on the Ashenvale map all the way down to the port. That's what I did.

To go around the waterfall, just get out of the river, climb up the hill, past the waterfall, and hop back in. The monsters on the way are only lvl 12.

If you've already been to Booty Bay in Stranglethorn Vale(as I had), you can take the boat that goes between Booty Bay & Ratchet.&nbsp This is what I did, and it's a lot shorter.&nbsp Of course, if you haven't been to Booty Bay yet, it's quite a run and probably faster to follow the advice in previous posts for getting to Ratchet.

Well... First, I got a flight to Forest Song, then, I took a swimming by Southfury River. Althought I passed quite close to Orgrimmar, it was not a problem, since there aren't usually many hordes taking bath and Durotar is 1-12 lvl zone :)

I hopped into the Southfury river down until I got into the barrens, and just ran down the coast took me 10-15 minutes. Running down the coast is a lot faster than swimming the whole way. And as a herbalist there is a liferoot herb on the coast between ashenvale and the barrens.

The guards are sparse in Ratchet, as compared to any other goblin town, where guards are plentiful, so Alliance should take special care there.

The whole quest matches up with the quests in Duskwood, so stay there a little bit.
The guy Arugal mentioned in Velinde´s Journal is the boss of Shadowfang Keep within Silverpine horde should know more about him.

1. Talk to Pilot Longbeard in the Military ward to get Brassbolt Brothers quest.

2. Go to Astranar then to the Shrine of Aessina and talk to Sentinal Melyria Frostshadow and finish:
a. Howling Vale finished in about 45 min including travel time. Be careful on your pulls and you will be fine. The bonus is that the warewolfs are skinnable! Then pick up
b. Velinde Starsong

3. Go to Darnasus and talk to Thyntel Bladewaver above the weapons trainers and get
a. Velindes Effects Just go to 8 on this map
complete the quest and pick up
b. Barrens port quest
Be careful going down to Ratchet through the Barrens. When you get to the main gate of the barrens go east (not through the main gate if you want to live) [:yikes:] through the hole in the fence. I had no problems at all. When you get to crossroads... again do not enter this town. take a left (east) to Ratchet.

You can follow this quest all the way to the end if you like.. there is a fair bow at the end. and some decent xp. Make sure you pick up the flight path in Booty Bay.

From there I am going to shimmering flats for the Highperch Venom quest from Fiorna Longears (to get the nice belt) and Brassbolt Brothers quest that you got from Pilot Longbeard in step one.

If you stay off the road a little, no one in the Barrens should bother you. Just take the flight path from Auberdine to Astranaar, then run southeast through the Barrens. The port is on the East coast, about the middle of the map. If horde bothers you, run out to the dock and the goblins will protect you. ^_^
