The Scythe of Elune

Look for signs of the Scythe of Elune then return to Jonathan Carevin in Darkshire.
  •
Find evidence of the Scythe of Elune

Description

Your story rings true... I do not entirely understand your motives, but if your business here in Duskwood involves ridding the forest of worgen in any number, then I can forgo understanding for results.

There is a mine to the south that has been overrun with worgen... They appeared out of nowhere, but from what we know, that is where they first were found.

Go about your business, but I would ask that if you find anything of import, you share it with me. We will accept any aid in our war against evil.

I would like to respond to all those that couldnt find this place!

I am a 31 druid and had absolutly no problems finding Rolands Cave at the location of 73,74. there are a few Nightbane's and one or two Gutspill's and range from level 29-31.

I had no problems killing them all (Even took an add or two for fun!).

Finding the mound of dirt was no problem! click and get out before they all start spawning or Hearth back to the inn.&nbsp

Remember that this is in "DUSKWOOD"

ENJOY!

I went into the cave marked Roland's Doom that had the tainted ones and Gutspill. Some of the mobs were 31, 32, and then there was a level 34 with the dragon thingy around his name when I targetted him. No mound of dirt in site. Am I in the wrong cave? If I'm in the right cave, why is a quest with level 34 mobs listed as level 30?

I read the entire thread here and it seems that what people are not understanding is that there are TWO caves of worgen almost side by side but only one is marked on the map.&nbsp If you approach from the graveyard it is easy.&nbsp If you approach from the west, coming from sw of the orchard, through a gulch (that is quite clearly shown on the map), like I did twice, you end up in a big mess with lots of mobs and at a cave that also claims Roland's Doom.&nbsp I do not know if they connect underground but I do know that you stay away from the western one and go to the eastern one from the graveyard and it is easy.&nbsp The western one can also be reached from the graveyard if you just pass the first Roland's Doom cave and go over the ridge and into the gulch.&nbsp This may be a horde place because I was attacked by horde pvp players twice in the western area and that is NO fun having to start all over and making their quest easy.

the scythe isnt that hard to locate, just run to the graveyard south-east of Darkshire. Go a bit west, and you'll see Worgen, and at the end a cave. enter the cave. You'll find some lvl 32 here, guess its a quest kill or something. at the very end, theres a pile of dirt to the right side of the cave. open it and you'll have completed The Scythe of Elune.

The cave that is spoken of is nearly at the bottom of the Duskwood map.&nbsp It looks almost like it's in that graveyard, but in fact it's not.&nbsp That is however, the correct place.&nbsp It's not the one that's east of Darkshire.

I went to the cave and found no signs of her nor the grave. The quest is listed as being level 30 so imagine my surprise when I encountered a level 34 semi-elite mob inside. I left because I figured I must be in the wrong place. Plus I'm only level 33 and was solo. Where exactly is the grave? Is it inside the cave? If so, how far in is it and will I need more help?

The lady's name is Velinde Starsong who is now a ghost. She talks about loosing the Sythe of Elune to the worgen. You need to kill the worgen until the staff drops. The url below is to the location of this lady's allakhazam page:

(NPC #3946) you click on the grave and the lady appears you should get the message that quest completed you have found Signs of the Scythe of Elune 1/1.

The next quest is Answered Questions.

Just went to solo this at lvl 33, and VERY easy. Before getting this quest, I would recommend getting the last leg of the "Worgen in the Woods" because while in the cave, you'll be killing the worgens you need for that quest.

The grave you need to get to is at the very back of the cave (labeled with "mound of dirt"). Very easy quest, and a level 31 should be able to solo it fine.

I soloed as a 29 hunter, and it was extremely difficult. Here is a good hint of strategy. Always rush your pet in before you draw aggro, that way you can sit back and pummel them with arrows (remember to keep the bird buff on then switch to spirit of the monkey when they come into to melee), then when they come have a fire trap ready.

They spawn very quickly so you have to work fast, but not too fast that your health isn't replenished. Potions can make this simple, but I never have any so I didn't use them.

The last battle was the toughest for my level considering you take on three. If you want to do it all at once:

1. send your pet in
2. ice trap one of them
3. activate the rapid shot spell and assist your pet

Your health should hold out perfectly if you're an average player that has alright armor in some areas and sucky in others like me.

Oh yeah, the item is right there at the end of the tunnel on the floor.

This was not all that hard with a small group of 29 to 30s working on the Worgen in the Woods Quest. Easy cleaning out the Vile Fangs out front, the Tainted ones inside were tougher with a VERY high respawn rate. Good drops good coin.

2450 at lvl 31 NE Hunter.

I killed the uncommon lvl 34 spawn but was killed by the bodyguards. I went back and got revenge on the camp. I found the pile of dirt in the back left of the cave. I clicked on it but no response. I made the mistake of abandoning the quest to see if I could get it again. Do I have to redo the whole chain?

This is the same event if you played in Darkshire before. Slaying all of the worgens until you reached your count of Vile Fangs and the other race. And for an added bonus to kill Gutspill a minion as well.

Work your way through the tunnel killing them all solo or group to the end of the mine tunnel. Find a Mound of Dirt and dig into it to get your item and return to Darkshire.

PS: The mystery lady tells you her story on what happened in the cave.

I solo'd this one with my lvl30 Hunter. The trick is to go in to the area from the west side by climbing the moutains on the right (west) side of the cave entrance. I did not have to deal with the Worgen (groups of 4) outside the cave (until I left and was too lazy to try to climb back up the cliffs). Finished the cave, found the mound, left the front way. I just ran through the mobs in the front, feined death, got up ran again. If you die the graveyard is very close. You could probably do this to get in too....
