The Missing Diplomat

Speak to Mikhail in the Wetlands.

Description

The Defias didn't pay me well enough to die for their cause. They took the king. Yeah, the king of Stormwind, not some lowly diplomat. He was on his way to Theramore to meet with Jaina Proudmore--it was a big deal apparently, and a big secret. But it's not just the Defias that are involved. They're working with someone. I think they knew this was bigger than them.

My part was just to get their man on board the king's ship while it was in the harbor. The guy's name was Hendel. That's all I know. I swear!

This quest starts at Tapoke "Slim" Jahn, and is in fact a continuation of the earlier 'The Missing Diplomat' series (see (Quest #1249)). That chain ended when you defeated Slim. He is now back in the tavern, and you can get this quest from him.

all u have to do is turn around and there is Mikhail still there. talk to him and continue the rest of the quest.

There's something wrong with this quest.&nbsp Normal quests like this show up as completed and just need to talk to the guy to finish, but this isn't showing as complete and no amount of relogging has allowed me to talk to him.

he wouldn't talk to me last night.. i logged out.&nbsp this morning he still won't talk to me.&nbsp i just re-logged again.&nbsp still the same bs message.
i'd open a ticket but the last two times i opened a quest ticket i gave up after about four days of the ticket being open with no response.&nbsp finally the quest just started working for me.

Quest wasn't bugged for me, but he would give that message if someone was already underway with defeating the guy at the door. Guy vanishes and reappears 2 min later, if he is missing then the bartender won't give the quest.

heh, i am a lvl 29 druid and i accepted the quest to stop "Slim".&nbsp he ran out the door and i told my char to attack not realizing he was several lvls above me :-).&nbsp needless to say i was slaughtered.&nbsp when i came back to life it said i was succesful in stopping this guy?&nbsp it said i completed my task and gave me the xp and everything.&nbsp i am not sure if someone killed him after i died or if just dying was enough.&nbsp pretty cool though!

As you run at Slim, he disappears, but you can still see him.&nbsp Tag him by right clicking on him and run him down and bump in to him and he will stop and fight you.&nbsp His �friend� will appear and join in.&nbsp As a level 31 I couldn�t beat both by myself (they�re level 34).&nbsp But I found if I caught him in front of the tavern when a lot of players were around, everyone joined in and beat the crap out of them and I got the complete.

I was level 31 when I went to "stop" Slim, and him being higher level than me with a helper, I wasn't doing very well at stopping him. I got him down to about half but between him and his friend I was just about dead... I used a first aid patch just to see how far I could get him down, and the battle stopped.... Slim told me he was going to go "get some papers" and he would meet me inside. It actually happened pretty fast, as far as I know I only got him down half way or so, but if I had a crit or a proc go off I guess he could have been alot lower. Not sure if this helps anyone.

Same as above said, if you fight Slim outside somebody will probably help out :) (a 58 paladin just helped me)

...So basically wait til Menethil is somewhat populated and go for it bc it's hard alone. Slim put some spell on me and I couldn't heal myself and I almost died til the paladin stepped in :)

I did this part of the quest without reading all of the posts. I am a level 31 Druid and I finished the quest with no problems.&nbsp I casted Mark of the Wild 4 and Thorns 3 on me, all while I was waiting to accept the quest.&nbsp Once I accepted, slim disappeared and headed outside.&nbsp I followed and he reappeared once outside the tavern.&nbsp I immediately cast faerie fire 2 on him, changed into the cat and attacked.&nbsp In mid battle, he had 2 friends help to pummel me.&nbsp As my health reached 200, I drank a healing potion for lvl 12 and started to cast Healing Touch 5.&nbsp While I was waiting to heal i noticed his health was dwindling from the thorns.&nbsp One of his friends even stunned me and interrupted my heal.&nbsp Needless to say the Slim's health went away and once I was healed the quest was over LOL.

I'm a lvl 29 rogue and i didn't have any probs. When he ran out of tavern just cheap shotted him, backstab, gouge, and so on, used evasion while fighting. Nothing special happend, no unwanted help for him and so on. Another easy fight, even easier than regular lvl 34 mob.

If you fail any quest, you can click on it, hit Abandon Quest, say Yes, and then go back to the original quest giver and get it again.

I failed at this point also and it seemed as if i couldnt restart it - i went everywhere in the chain looking and today after 24 hours and 3 log ins Mikail the bartender has the quest again finally. Dont know why he didnt automatically let me do it over, but it can be continued.
