Dwarven Justice

Return to the Searing Gorge and find Dorius's archaeology unit.

Description

There is an empty, vacuous hole, where my heart used to be, <name>. The loss of Dorius is not one that I will soon recover from. I must see his final wish through - the perpetrators of this cold blooded murder must be brought to justice.

Return to the Searing Gorge and fulfill his last request: Free his men. The Dark Iron dwarves force their slaves to work in a sweltering mine called the Slag Pits. Search there for Dorius' men.

1.&nbsp Look on your Map, walk to the edge of the cliff to the crane that has a chain going into the Cauldron chasm..it is near the "C" of the word "Cauldron" on your map.

2.&nbsp Drop onto the iron work and then down to the path.&nbsp You will be in front of the most Eastern cave (the "first" cave).

3.&nbsp Enter the cave, killing as you go.&nbsp Cross the iron bridge and enter the room.

4.&nbsp As you enter this room, you will see the red glow from two exits. One to your left, and one straight ahead.&nbsp Go directly across the room.&nbsp Do NOT enter the doorway to the left (which contains Overeer Maltorious and his henchmen).

5.&nbsp Exit the room via the doorway directly across from the way you entered go down the ramp.&nbsp The Lost Archeologist is in the center of the room at the bottom of the ramp (to your left).

Just because I am an idiot, make sure you remember that this is underground in the caves, not on the top level. I was walking around those coords and was thinking, what the hell.

Then I realised what was up. hah

None of these comments are very helpful in actually finding the guy. The one by Fateofall just got me lost. Easiest way was to go in via the FARTHEST RIGHT (on the map) cave which you can only access by jumping down on top of it from the rim of The Cauldron. Fight your way past all the guys, veering towards the right until you reach a dead end (sometimes there is a rare mob at this dead end). Go to the LEFT, jump down twice, you should see the question mark on your minimap by now. If not, well, he's the dwarf lying down in the very middle of the cavern.

The cave is the one at 49,44. Best way to get there is to go to 48,41 and jump down. When you're at the cave the guy you are searching for is at 41,25. Enemies inside the cave are level 46-48. Hope this helps.

Follow the other directions to fall into the hole at the Slag Pit.&nbsp Walk north/northeast until you're under Thorium Point on the map.&nbsp You'll see a big opening with a pink glow leading into the cavern where he's at.&nbsp There's a helpful yellow question mark guiding the way.

I took the North/East Cave entrance into "The Cauldron" and ran past just about eveything... Talked to the little Dwarf that was laying down and that was about it! The cords are 41,25 Inside "The Cauldron". Also posted a screenshot above.

the marking on the map for the dying archaeologist is a little confusing. you actually go into the 2nd cave from the left, in the cauldren and go further in until you find him.

okay, the EASIEST way into the area where the guy is is to drop down the shaft thats to the right of the camp below thorium point (on the right with your back to thorium point). Then, move to your left, killing things as you go. Pretty soon, you'll see the question mark on your mini map, that's you dood.

Alrighty so the easiest way to find this guy:

1. Go to the second cave from the left on the map.
2. Take the elevator there all the way down to the ground.
3. Go in the cave entrance right by the elevator.
4. Go left around the lava pool and go through the gate to your left.
5. Now pretty much go straight northwest - you'll end up in the big room where Obsidion is and he's laying in the middle.

He is behind the locked gate in one of the caves in the Cauldron - you can get a key from killing the mobs near the gate.

If you want a faster way to get the Dying Dwarf in the Cauldron, from Thorium Point just head towards the Cauldron.&nbsp Along the way you'll find a shaft with a crane lowering a big slab of concrete down.&nbsp Drop down on the slab of conrete and go in the direction opposite the Cage door (cage door is in view)

just did this with my lvl 44 shaman...just drop down on the "lamp" or whatever ir is hanging from a chain into the hole just south of thorium point, then follow the corridor that goes northeast (only way you can go without entering the gate)
then just keep going until you see the yellow dot on your mini map...
as i said i did this at 44 and killed at most 15 lvl 45-48 mobs...
easiest 5650 xp ever.

Note that "Dying Archaeologist" belongs to the Booth Bay faction. This means that if you have grinded rep with the Bloodsail Buccaneers (presumably to get the Blood Parrot) you normally can't do this quest.

The location of the guy is correct, but he's inside a huge cave. The entrance is at 49, 45. Just jump down, and take the first on the right. Follow the hallway and go left at the end. There's Obsidion and the Dying Archeologist.

After a LOT of running around in the Gorge, I found I had to go to the map coords listed at 41,26 and kind of fall off the cliff onto the twisted platform below. This platform leads to two cave entrances, the lower one is for the whateverasaurs quest where all go to kill off the mobs for gaining reputation with the Thorium Brotherhood for all those slick plans and recipes.

You cannot get to this platform from the Gorge floor. You can get close, but, no cigar.

The upper entrance is the one you want, just follow it and stay to the left when you cross the bridge. To the left is a small entrance to the huge cavern where Obsideon the dying archeologist lay.

I dropped down the rabbit hole like RealTrueBrit suggested. Other than an Ironguard aggro there was no problem. I followed the left wall and when you enter the big cavern where the ramp is you can see the quest NPC on the ground in the center. I walked right up and finished this part of the quest. Hearthed out. :) Thanks Brit! :)

This quest was easy solo.. Open your map and you see the entrance to one of the caves... You want to enter the second one from the left. When you jump down their is an elevator.. Take that down to the third floor and jump out there... Cave entrance is on your left hand side and just run past all the guys or kill them for xp... Keep running till your under Thorium Point and he should be on the ground.. Click on him and you get an easy 5650 xp.
