The artifact is in the lava pool at the twilight hammer camp. follow the path up to the upper camp and follow it to the right. In order to loot the artifact you have to jump into the lava and stand on it the artfact.

Hey guys this is actually located in the Firewatch Ridge. Before you get to the cave coming from Thorium Point there is a camp fire and wagon, you take a right and continue up the mountain. It is ELITE! ther is about 10 Elites at the alter and you need a group of atleast 2(if the other is a healer) should try and do it with three. You cannot solo this. Then after you find and kill everything around the lava pool get on top of the item to open or you will diefrom standing in the lava. Grab the item then get the quest form the night elf in the cage next to the lava pool( good xp and nice plate bracers). Take the artifact back to the dying dwarf in the Slag Pit and this unlocks the obsidion Quest. Kill all the dwarves around the area before you fight obsidion and his master both 52 Elites. Have fun!

The Mysterious Artifact is in the middle of a lava pool directly west of Thorium Point.&nbsp To get there, go south of the flight point to Firewatch Ridge and head west towards the cave.&nbsp Do not go inside the cave.&nbsp Instead, look to your right and find a path going up the mountain.&nbsp Follow it and look for some more torches lighting up the path to your right.&nbsp At the end of that path, you'll see the said lava pool and the Mysterious Artifact.

Be careful.&nbsp Elite mobs guard this area, but they can be pulled individually, even the ones surrounding the lava pool.&nbsp Once you've cleared it, you can jump onto the Mysterious Artifact to loot it, since wading through the lava pool will hurt and eventually kill you.

All good advice here so far, but its all mixed up into bits and confusing pieces, hopefully this clarifies it all into one post.

Exit the cave. Should be easier to head east uphill to leave.

Head back towards Thorium Point, continue past it to about 24, 29. It loooks a bit like a cobblestone path. Follow the torches a bit to your right until you see the lava pool. Clear the mobs. Stand on the Twighlight Artifact in the middle of the lava pool and click it. Lava gives a lot of damage, so be sure to do this.

Return to the cave where you got this quest. I found it easiest to drop down from about 49,44 which lines you up with the cave that easiest to go back to.

The Altar Of Suntara is next to where you got the quest. Click on it. 5,800 XP as of patch 2.3.

Quest continues with Rise, Obsidian, which requires you to stand there for a minute, they spawn right in front of you and that quest is returned to Ironforge for 8,650 XP.

The relic is in a pool of lava your best bet is to jump on top of the artifact to use it or else you will die trying to use it.

The pool is here
(Object #180) is Twilight Hammer guys all around the pool. There also a npc that gives a quest I believe nearby.

28,25 are cords

As a lvl 50 hunter this was really easy. Walked up there away from all mobs (if u dont find a safe way up, run trough all mobs and feign death if u are a hunter) When got up there I killed like 5 mobs (1 at a time of course) then sent my pet on the 3 remaining mobs ... while pet wheere bait i took the artifact and then feign death :D

And to turn in the relic Altar of Suntara is right next to the body where u first got the quest next to the golem lying on the floor.

So u see, this is indeed very soloable quest. And easy too.

you hand in the artifact in the cauldron
Theres a rock next to an elite elemental in cauldron cave in a big room. Its the room with enslaved people. you use arifact on the rock. there should be a sign to click it.
Once u have done this u have a dwarf talk to u once he is finished. the elemental will come to life and u have to kill him along with another elite lvl 52 guy. they both drop a quest item each which u have have to hand in at iron forge.

The lava pool is just west of Thorium Point up in the cliffs. From ThPnt keep following the road west until you find some of the elites. There will be a cave off behind them a little bit. At that point try and find the path that leads up the cliffs to the north. It should be easy to find the pool at that point.

Note of caution: These guys are pretty difficult for their level and they do massive fire damage. I can't prove it but I think the area is bugged. Everytime I've been there I get fireballed and firestormed from nowhere. Even after my group cleared the place out something was still attacking us. In fact as I whisped back to my corpse fireballs were still being shot at me from all directions.

The archeaologist and the altar are right next to Obsidion underground. They're right underneath Thorium point.

The easiest way I've found to get down there is to find the NPC with the huge dragon pet. (SE of ThPnt) In that area you'll see a crane with a cable that disappears into the ground. You'll find that the crane is actually lower a box into a hole in the ground. Drop into the hole onto the box then drop into the cave. You should take minimal damage from the fall. Just head north in there and you'll find Obsidion laying on the ground with a bunch of neutral dwarves working on him. In front is the archeaologist and the altar.

This will lead to the Obsidion quest. My recommendation is to clear the area of all the worker dwarves first. Obsidion has a knockback attack so you'll probably agro a bunch of stuff unintentionally. You have to fight both Obsidion and his "maker". Both are 52 elite.

OK, you deserve to know this.

1) I ran up, jumped into the pool, died and resurrected on the artifact. (Tried this 3 times, this is what happened the third time).
2) One idolater came into the lava pool. I vanished.
3) I got my blind ability handy. Started opening the artifact.
4) The idolater came back into the pool, I nailed here with blind.
5) I opened the artifact, and looted the hammer.
6) I ran out of the pool, and jumped off the cliff. No one followed.

Died 2x getting into position.

Soloed it as a Level 50 Hunter.

First kill the guards of the casters around the pool, can be easily pulled one by one.
The casters (idolaters) are buggy, The thrird counter clockwise is the only one that really attacks you if you get to near. So after you killed their guards just pull them one by one.
The guards that are at the plateau respawn very fast so be carefull.

I was able to make my way up to lava pool with out engaging any bad guys.

At top of hill i killed 3-4 geomancers (lvl 50-51 elites).&nbsp They drop pretty easy and attacking them did not aggro anyone else nearby, even those at the lava pool.

I never did kill any of the mob directly surrounding the pool itself.&nbsp Just levitated over lava and ran onto top of gem.&nbsp This caused a couple of them to attack me, but I used Psychic Scream to send them away and popped my shield bubble and was able to loot the gem.

Died on running out.

Go up the hill always stay right... You can do it alone as a hunter anyway, 54+ I would say, anyway pull one at a time have your pet tank drain there mana what worked for me is the aimed shot and then fire everything you got. after about 15 kills go to the lava pool and stand on the otem you have to loot or burn to death lol. if you get killed like i did die near so you can respawn right on top . shadowmeld heel then loot

Good Luck

I managed to solo this just about at level 52 as a shadow priest.

Bear in mind this is post 2.01 patch so i have lots more damage power than before, you can run up to the people surrounding the lava pit without any aggro, everyone on the way to it will aggro you however! They only break their strange spell thing if you start to damage them, and only one at a time except for the one by the table will be pulled.
Cast Mind blast, Vampiric touch, SW:P, Vampiric embrace, bubble, and repeat, until low enough to wand them to death.

Just do it quickly with pots water and any other regen items or else they will respawn.

Only venture to the middle of the lava pit once its clear all round, they will kill you in a couple of hits if you go there without clearing the area first :P

I couldn't find a post that said it wasn't in the cave, so NO it's not. There's a path to the right of the cave entrance, lots of mobs so you'll either need help or be higher level. Northwest corner of SG, lots of elites. It's in the middle of a pool of lava, you gotta jump over to it and land on it, which is easiest on your mount. The path begins around 24, 35~ish if you use a coordinates addon. That should cover most of _this_ quest.

Just did this quest last night. While scouting around the edge of the pool my pet aggro'd a caster who was in the rock face (i.e. bad spawn position). The caster could get us with fire spells but was too far into the rock to take damage from me or my pet. Just had to back-out until we cleared aggro and keep clear of that rock.

[Red]This quest sucked....but I finally got it done!
Once your party clears out the mobs jump once....then twice to get up ontop of the artifact. If you do not do this you will DIE! (Make sure you do this fast because they respawn quickly) Then jump twice again and you should be fine. As a 55 mage I got it done with a fair amount of health left. (I was red though)[/Red]

Very simple for a warlock or hunter if you
don't feel like fighting. Ride in on your
mount with your voidwalker or best tanking
pet you have out. Ride and jump on the
artifact- dismount. I only had 2 mobs
on me at that point. Voidwalker tanked
them with time to spare to loot the object.
Hop over the edge towards Thorium Point-
done! But to get any exp you must return
to the guy who gave you the quest in the
cauldron.

Also did this with my rogue- fairly easy
as well. Stealth all the way in past the
artifact by the guy in the cage. From there
you can single pull several. Then sap
the ones close together. Only need to fight
1 at a time this way.

What TheForge Scholar said is very good.
I had no problem jumping on the stone with my Human char. My Gnome char was an entirely different story.

If you are a short race your best bet is to have a Priest there with you casting a regen on ya. That way, if you miss the stone you will still be able to make it back to land before the lava kills you.
