Description

Life in the Burning Steppes is rife with conflict.

Just look at this place! We know very little of what happened to these buildings, but we do know that at one time, before the great explosion, this was all part of the Redridge mountain range.

Enough lamenting! We have a problem, <name>. You may have noticed the dragonkin below this ridge. We need assistance in pushing them back. Kill as many as you can and return to me. Succeed and perhaps we can talk of other things.

Dragonkin Menace -> The True Masters (part 1, Redridge) -> The True Masters (part 2, SW) -> The True Masters (part 3, back to Redridge) -> The True Masters (part 4, back to Morgan's Vigil in Burning Steppes) -> talk to Ragged John -> talk to marshal Maxwell -> Marshall Windsor -> Abandoned Hope. Next step begins when you find a Crumpled Note off random drop in BRD. Take it back to Marshall Windsor and get A Shred of Hope -> Jail Break -> Stormwind Rendevous -> The Great Masquerade, and you then get the key to Onyxia's Lair!

It seems in 2.3 they've changed the Black Drakes, Black Dragonspawn, and the Wrymkin from elite to non elite.

A lot of posts about useless stuff and agruments and not enough on how to actually complete this part of the quest.

You receive the quest from Morgan's Vigil, from the only elf there.

To complete this part of the chain just walk down the ramp of Morgan's Vigil and turn east. Walk eastward until you hit the mountains and see some elites. From this point you can run strait north and along the way you will see all the required creeps you need to complete the quest.

As of patch 2.3:
  • They have changed Black Dragonspawns, Black Drake and Black Wyrmkins to non-elite
  • The quest now awards 7900 experience points, instead of 5450

after the great masquerade, you need to go to winterspring and into a cave southwest of the town there. Just follow the road south and go west when it turns. When the road is done on the map, keep going and you will see a big cave.

The cave is full of 55-56 elites. You can bring a group and fight or you can run as deep as you can, die and repeat until you reach a blue spot on the ground toward the end of the cave.

Stand on the blue spot, it teleports you to haleh. talk to her. Then you need to get blood from the general in UBRS (the big dragon at the end) and take it back to her. She gives you an ammy that is the key.

Ok....I am stumped.&nbsp I have been banging my head against the wall here for months now. I know where the Dragonkin Meneage starts, but I cannot get the quest from the NPC. The only quest he gives is the one to go kill Halycon in LBRS. does this have to be done first before getting that quest?&nbsp

Soloed it at lvl 53, Holy Specced Priest (21/30 Disc Holy, well at that time something like 14/30).
Especially the drake was easy, the real problem where for me those Dragonkin elites, and not the Wyrmkin but those Black Dragonspawn where hard for me.

Just downed the drake as 56-shadow priest with 900-mana and 1045 hp left. Not too tough, for other shadow priests out there 50+ should be no problem. Shield, then use innerfocus then mind blast to begin the battle. When he begins to cast his flame breath, immediately silence him (cannot remember if immune).Just keep him dotted and mind flay him down back-to-back, do not wand unless out of mana. When shield fades, re-shield as soon as possible, that split second hesitation could cost a chunk of health you may need. Don’t forget to use pots if you can!

Good luck!

I soloed this with my 53 hunter(MM speced untill Aimed shot, and the rest BM). It was very easy. The level 53 Blackdragon Spawn was alot harder than the 54 Black Wyrmkin. The Drake was easy, but very annoying(he kept interferring while i was fighting other things).

I'm lvl 57 shadow-specced priest so needed a little help with the elites (for speed as much as anything). Theyre located just north of Morgan's Vigil and spawn quite quickly (86,58).

When you need Ragged John, he can be found at Flame Crest (65,23). There's a horde windmaster there but sadly us alliance have to ride from Morgan's Vigil.

The rest of the series, before you get the BRD part, will earn you a total of 20850xp so do it BEFORE 60. Nice and esay xp :)

Very tough ones indeed, but it isn't impossible to do this alone at lvl 54. But the downtime and the risk of getting adds whilst fighting lvl 53 elites (the Dragonspawn and Wyrmkin both are about 53 elite, the black drake is 50-52 elite) does render the excellent xp a bit useless.

Best get a group at that lvl or spend a long time on it.

I soloed the quest as a 53 rogue. Had to wait between Dragonspawn kills for evasion and cold blood to recharge, and it took a few Major Healing Potions, but it was doable.

These Broodlings have a wide Aggro radius as they also did in Redridge, hard to avoid even as a high level. Make sure you are prepared with a lot of Fire Resistance.

I soloed this entire quest as a level 58 paladin - it's not that hard, you just have to pay attention to health. This quest should be done at the same time as Broodling Essence (https://classicdb.ch/?quest=4726), since that quest requires you to collect items from Black Broodlings by putting an aura on them before you kill them.
