Marshal Windsor

Travel to Blackrock Mountain in the northwest and enter Blackrock Depths. Find out what became of Marshal Windsor.

You recall Ragged John talking about Windsor being dragged off to a prison.

Description

So that good for nothing coward says that Windsor is alive, eh?

Suit up, deputy, you are going in to find him. If Windsor is alive, you are to bring him back. If he's dead, I want proof.

<Maxwell laughs.>

I bet you are getting tired of hearing that, aren't you?

Dragonkin Menace -> The True Masters (part 1, Redridge) -> The True Masters (part 2, SW) -> The True Masters (part 3, back to Redridge) -> The True Masters (part 4, back to Morgan's Vigil in Burning Steppes) -> talk to Ragged John -> talk to marshal Maxwell -> Marshall Windsor -> Abandoned Hope. Next step begins when you find a Crumpled Note off random drop in BRD. Take it back to Marshall Windsor and get A Shred of Hope -> Jail Break -> Stormwind Rendevous -> The Great Masquerade, and you then get the key to Onyxia's Lair!

For all of those who abandoned this chain and whine on where to pick it up...
Like all chains you have to pick it up at _exactly_ the step where _you_ choose to forfeit the chain, the only sensible feedback any of us thotters can give you is to try to speak to everyone in the chain and see who responds to your desperate cry for help.

There is no way that any of us will know where _you_ abandoned the chain, so stop asking us and try to remember, or do as I suggested above.

Thank you for your attention (in case you actually read as far as this, before giving up)

As soon as you enter the instance, go straight into the first room.&nbsp It splits off into many paths.&nbsp Go to the right.&nbsp The three right passages all lead to the same place.&nbsp Right, left, and to the middle.&nbsp The two side passages circle around and join each other, the middle path has square rooms.&nbsp The high interrogator is what drops the key.&nbsp That mob is in the last room of the middle path.&nbsp You can get there from any of the paths.&nbsp I don't know about the random cell location.&nbsp Bring a hunter :)

The quest isn't too hard to solo as a level 60 rogue. I think any other class would need a full party.

I used nightscape boots to help with the stealth, I highly recommend them for this trip. Also, you'll want to have 300 lockpicking (though I don't know if you need it at 300, that's what I had)

From the entrance, go straight between the two guards and into the courtyard. Be very careful, there are patrols with dogs doing circles. The guards won't see you, but if you're not careful the dogs will. The place you want to head is at your 2 o'clock position. As you get closer, you'll see the little jail cages suspended from chains.

Follow the corrodor, avoiding dogs and patrols. Your minimap will show Windsor up as the little yellow dot we've all come to know and love. It should lead you to a cell that is guarded by three dwarves and a dog.

Here's the tricky part. You have to get rid of the guards to pick the lock on the door to get to Windsor. The way I did it was to sap one of the guards, kill the dog and vanish. Wait for cooldowns, sap a guard, kill the other two guards (thank you blade flurry) and vanish again. Finally kill the last guard. The guards run, so use crippling poison.

I had some epics in my gear which made life easier I suspect though it could be managed with just blues, just brind blinding powder and maybe a healing potion or two.

When you leave the instance, make sure you don't reset it. Once you turn in the quest, the chain will continue till you get the crumpled note. That note will mean another trip back to Windsor and since the respawn rate in BRD is very, very slow, if you do them quickly you will come back and find the guards still dead.

Good luck!

For those of you who failed the quest jailbreak, simply leave the instance, have the leader reset the instance and try it again.&nbsp It is the simplest way to do it.&nbsp I know it works b/c before I had the quest, we ran a group, failed the jailbreak and reset the instance.&nbsp Worked for us just fine.&nbsp Just be sure to clear all the pats before the break, because there are ALOT of adds during the escort.&nbsp Be sure to bring alot of mana pots for the healer.

@ 60 with 5 in MoD and Wearing Nightscape Boots (1 to stealth rank) I could get near the cell (shows which on the mini map). Finding it is Easy Avoiding Dog Patrols is a pain. After distracting a patrol that passed just out of agro reach I could sap 1 guard then throw it all down at the 1 dog at the door while 2 other guards beat on me. After lying out the dog I vanished and waited for patrols. Retreated tactically when patrolls passed and waited for that same oppertune moment. Sapped the next guard and took down 1 of the remaining 3. Using Prep I could vanish again. Then after waiting about 5 Min I sapped the final and took down the 2nd to last. After dropping him I opened the door and vanished.. =) only died twice in the process.... Damn those dogs are nuts.

Did with a 58 Druid (me) and a 60 Rogue.

Stealthed through the dogs, we managed to work out the pattern and then headed right... theres is a small part of the wall which is slanted and can be walked upon. Walk up it then you should see 2 dogs and a few dwarfs to your left. Distract them if you can. Stealth down the corridor, sticking to the wall when a dog patrol came. STAY STILL If they see you!

When we got to the door I jumped into bear form while the rogue opened the door. I used frenzied regeneration to stay alive. When the door was open. I jumped out of bear took a health potion, ran in completed the quest and accept the new one.

Out of bear form i was dead within seconds, so you have to be VERY quick!

If your a druid this is the end of the line im afraid, die and run back to the instance to res.

Rogues can vanish and hearth, will probably find it extremely hard to stealth back.

Good luck.

Very easy to solo as a 60lv rogue. Get inside BRD, avoid the dogs and get close to the door where Marshal Maxwell is locked. The door is guarded by 4 mobs, two 50lvl guards, one 51 lvl and a dog.
There are 2 groups of patrols passing by, outside the cell:3 dogs and 1 guard with 2 dogs. Just wait for them to pass.
1st. Kill the dog, use evasion and all the dps goes to the dog till its dead. Then vanish. Its good to have Luffa trinket to avoid bleed effect from the guards for a quicker and safer vanish. At this point its good to have a health potion just in case that dog delays you, also the guards may disarm you as well.
2nd Sap the 51lv guard, blind the second and kill the other. These 50 lvl guards are easy to kill, use cold blood if needed. Then vanish.
Same tactic for the 2nd guard, sap the 51lv and kill the 50lvl.
Finally the last guard (51 lvl) will be peace of cake. Careful that this guard is running just before dying, control him to avoid taking aggro from him.
The patrol gods are not a problem at all. If you stay near the wall they just look at you and pass by. I didnt take agro by them even when I was unstealthed while killing the last guard.

Me (a hunter level 60) and my frined (a mage level 60) used this tactic: Bypass all camps (you can do it.
Maybe you need to kill some pats of 3 non-elites/1 elite and 2 non-elites.
When you get to the cell he is standing in you open a portal, let the pet take aggro, open and talk to him then use portal to get out:)
This can also be used at the cumpled note q!

The quest seems to end like *poof*, nothing to be done next, BUT if u continue with some little darkiron dwarves farming u might get " a crumpled up note" from them, thats your next path. Give that to Marshal and you shall continue. I dont know the %drop but i do know u can farm the Slaves outside instance too, there's where i got mine.

Good day.
