Scarlet Diversions

Proceed to the Scarlet Crusade's base camp between Felstone Field and Dalson's Tears and destroy their command tent.

Place the Scourge banner at the camp, and then return to High Executor Derrington at the Bulwark, Western Plaguelands.
  •
Destroy the command tent and plant the Scourge banner in the camp
Provided Item:
Scourge Banner

Description

Before Andorhal, we must tackle the advancing Scarlet Crusade menace from Hearthglen. They've made camp between Felstone Field and Dalson's Tears, making us risk conflict against both the Scourge and the Crusade at once.

My plan is to play them off of each other by sending you to destroy the command tent they've set up; use some Flame in a Bottle from this box of incendiaries. Once razed, plant this Scourge banner by the tent. With some luck, they'll ignore us and focus on the Scourge for vengeance.

This quest is quite irritating, make sure to get the Flame in a Bottle from next to the quest giver after you pick up the quest.

The camp like the quest says is in between Felstone and Dalson's. It contains Hunter and Mage Scarlet Mobs primarily. Pick off the mobs individually as fighting more than one can get bad fast. Keep up a fast pace as they respawn fairly quickly. When all of them are killed burn the tent and place the flag.

Though this quest is very annoying it leads into a chain dealing with the fields in WPL and their cauldrons that give really fast and awesome EXP. Doing the whole chain line is about 70k exp and doable in about an hour. Don't get discouraged by this first quest.

When you get this quest, grab the bottle from the crate next to the guy who is giving quest.

The object is the little camp about 40,53. Good luck with the mobs, burn down the tent using the bottle place the banner and your done.

Mobs are hard. I'm 54 warrior and getting my booty kicked.

Ok so you get the quest over at the Argent dawn camp in Tristfall glades, dont forget to pick up the Fire in a bottle next to quest giver...Now in between the First 2 cauldron areas, On left,&nbsp lies a camp, go around back of it, and kill one at a time from there...Remmy they are humans, so they will run once they get close to dying (Kinda like alliance) then burn the tent, next plant the flag...you can not plant the flag unless you burn the tent...Finally did it for the faction as a lvl 60...I dont see anyone soloing it lesser than lvl 53.

Good luck all

Remember to get the Flame in a Bottle from a box next to the quest giver.
You also have the banner in your inventory.
This quest is very hard for the level, the pop rate is faster than normal, so bring friends.

Overall, a very difficult quest. Perhaps the most difficult in the game (relative to level and Blizzard's expectations).

- Casters' Arcane Missiles are very high damage to take in.
- Hunters have pets to deal with.
- Medics can heal themselves and others.
- Mobs are bunched together, so pulling often results in aggro-ing several and running for your life.
- VERY fast respawn timers.
- Cannot plant flag in combat.

I completed the quest as a well-geared, level 51 pom-pyro mage without dying (although I ran for my life several times). Here's how I did it:

1) Make sure to take the Fire in a Bottle from behind the quest giver before you leave!
2) Use any means necessary to get to the tent and set it ablaze (by right-clicking it). You can do this in combat, and damage only slows the process down (it does not stop you from setting it on fire). I simply pulled a side towards me, casted frost nova, and ran in and set it on fire (while getting hit slightly). Then I ran for my life.
3) Approach the camp from the north, killing as fast as you can. The tent will respawn from being on fire, but don't worry about it. Keep killing until you can stand right next to the dirt patch near the tent without being in combat.
4) Use the tent given to you by the quest giver, and run for your life again.

This quest blows.

1-The mobs spawn quickly, you need to kill at least 1/4th of them.

2- The Invokers have been buffed to stop the CFGs. Their missiles now HURT a lot.

3- IMPORTANT: You need to BURN the tent, THEN plant the flag. If the tent respawns, you have to go back to the questgiver to get another bottle of flames.

MEH!

I had real problems with this quest with my 53 warrior. I wasn't able to kill them fast enough before they respawned.

Finally I cleared out enough on the west side so I could get close enough and torch the tent and plant the banner.

If you're a meele class just use your gun or pull by presence, be careful tho since you might get more than you can handle.

I was able top just barely complete this quest at level 50 and a couple of points on this that were able to make it possible for me to finish. First off, setting the tent on fire can be done while mobs are beating on you. I had one mob shooting arrows at me and was still able to set fire to the tent. It is treated the same as a spell meter and would just slow down when I got hit. Also, you have to both set the tent on fire and plant the banner, but not at the same time. I burned the ten, was murdered by a medic (oh, the irony) and was able to come back and plant the banner a bit behind the respawned tent and got the completed message. Hope that helps anyone who might be a little too low to be able to sneak in and complete quest.

Sadly this quest requires you read the quest text and pick up the bottle of flames before going to do the quest.

Naturally I cleared all around the tent and had to run back to the NPC for the flames :D

oh, and one more thing. You don't have to kill EVERYONE to set the tent on fire. The two first guys I killed spawned after I had killed the rest. They were a bit far away so I just went in and put the tent on fire. Piece of cake.

If doing this in a party everyone has to burn tent and plant the pole.&nbsp For us the tent respawned as soon as someone planted the pole.&nbsp Quest would not complete with another party member planting pole.

When I went to do this q another group had just burnt the tent as I arrived. Turns out that as long as you plant the flag while there's no tent, then the q counts as completed.

No fighting of annoying mobs for me :)

I wish I could take credit for this, but I can't....

You will need 2 people....

Sneak to the back of the camp. Have your friend mounted. Have him run through the camp.. as soon as he goes, you go and burn the tent. DO NOT TARGET ANY MOB or you can't plant the flag. If your friend is good.. we will survive. I was out of there before the mobs got back. left the same way i got there... out through the back... not one mob hit me.

We (he) healed and I ran aggro on my mount. ....

The Invokers arcane missles are ungodly, here. Very tight aggro, and they flee like any other Scarlet wuss. Crowd Control is necessary to complete this fairly. It took me longer than it should have, and in the end all I did was clear the backside and set that thing ablaze and bolted. I was determined because the chain quest is a Bob Dylan/Jimi Hendrix song... A good one, might I add. :D

Loc: 40,53
Soloed Rouge 58
Died three times because aggroed two or three mages that started blasting me with spells.
The tactics are simple at my lvl you don't pickup much aggro so go around pull one by one a kill (apply Crippeling Poison)
Burn the Tent and place the flag. (the torch to burn the Tent is pickedup near the quest giver)
They respawn every 2 minutes or something.
Enjoy.

First get the bottle with flame in a box next to the npc where you get the quest. then go to 40.53 you'll see a white tent. Shield yourself then freeze those scarlet mobs then quick burn of the tent and place the banner and at last blink and run away

easy for rogue just pull what u can at back. Sap what u need to to get to tent in stealth. Then burn tent, u will be attacked but it doesnt interupt the process. Run and re-stealth. After go back to front by the table and stand and place flag there, once its placed run and stealth.

If your a hunter, this quest is easy. If your pet's HP is high enough send it to attack the central guy. It will probably aggro all the other guys, so you just run in and burn the tent while your pet gets killed, then run once your done. This may also work for locks depending on the demon you use.

I managed to finish burning the tent right as my pet died, and then I died while running away.

@ lvl 51 this is impossible. all mobs are either 53/54 (most orange) and as soon as you start burning (even after sapping one and blinding one and popping evasion) they will pwn your face with arcane missiles WAY Before you can get the cast (burning the tent) off. died twice. so only try this if youre at LEAST lvl 52, not even sure then

Tried at first as a lvl 54 lock and found it nearly impossible so gave up quite fast. I was grinding AD rep at level 57 when a level 52 rogue asked for help, I agreed and gathered the quest and necessary items and we completed the quest very easily. It took no less then 4 minutes (1 minute for me getting the quest and 1 minute for the rogue acquiring the forgotten 'flame in a bottle' ])

THE QUESTGIVER DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE BOTTLE OF FLAMES

Sorry, just wanted to make sure people saw that ) You have to pick it up from the box next to him. I cleared the camp only to realize that neither me nor my husband had the bottle so we could not burn down tent. So we went back, got bottle, picked up a stray person to help and cleared camp again then burned down tent. Then the @#&! stray person didn't plant his flag in time because he was too busy going "Durr, I can't burn down tent" even though it was burning before his eyes. So, the moral of the story is:

1. Pick up the bottle from the box next to the questgiver.
2. Don't pickup strays
3. If you ignore (2), then make sure the strays fully understand the quest objectives so that you don't have to clear the damn camp a third time.

First off, I don't want to hear how you managed to solo a quest with your race- or class-specific spells or talents. Just becuase you can "freeze" or "stun" the mobs doesn't mean everyone else can. I only want to hear about completing the quest with skills that all characters (including mine)possess.

Now to the meat of this quest. I tried to do this solo at level 57 and had real problems because the spawn rate on the mobs protecing the tent are very rapid. I started pulling them and killing them, one or two at a time, and before I was halfway around the tent the first ones I killed were respawning. This quest is gay. WTF is Blizzard smoking?
