All Along the Watchtowers

Using the Beacon Torch, mark each tower in Andorhal; you will need to stand in the doorway of the tower to successfully mark it.

Once all four towers are marked, return the Beacon Torch to High Executor Derrington at the Bulwark, Western Plaguelands.
  •
Tower One marked
  •
Tower Two marked
  •
Tower Three marked
  •
Andorhal Tower Four slain
Provided Item:
Beacon Torch

Description

Through the use of a magical device known as a beacon torch, we can mark targets of our choosing for future actions by our troops. To that end, we think the Scourge are using Andorhal's watchtowers as a means to control their troop movements.

Your mission: breach Andorhal's defenses to plant beacons at all four watchtowers. You'll need to be in the doorway of each tower to plant the beacon; it will then proceed to mark the tower. There are only five charges on the beacon torch, so use them wisely!

only constipated minds offend when someone ask a question. Anyone reading thottbot needs help or tips, so any offensive comment applies to himself.

the towers are located:

Tower 1&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 39, 71
Tower 2&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 42, 65
tower 3&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 44, 63
tower 4&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 46, 70

When you enter the plaguelands, Andorhal will be to the right. The access road is the first intersection in the map to the south.

If you take that road, tower 3 will be the nearest one at the left of the road, 4 is the one in the right. Once you see the map the tower one can be seen entering by the bridge in left lower part of the map and the tower 2 will be near the other bridge.

You don't have to fight the elite. You approach the door from the side until you are close to put the light without seen by the guard inside. Is wise to clean a path to run away. As a warrior I cleaned the path and used rend to reduce the speed of the guard and to run away (that was till I found how to avoid him as indicated above). Very easy indeed!

Tower 1 - 40, 71
Tower 2 - 42, 66
Tower 3 - 44, 63
Tower 4 - 46, 71

If you aren't in a group, don't worry, you don't have to fight any elites. Check the screenshot, just stand next to the doorway.

To all you hunters, I have a bit of strategy for you. First find a nice escape route away from the towers (perhaps clearing some of the ghouls). Now, drop a freezing trap at the base of the ramp leading to the tower. Make sure you have easy access to the torch. Send in your pet at the elite and start torching (the above pic is a good reference about how far away to be). Hit AotC, start running and if you want and get your pet to follow (sacrificing is a very viable alternative, but rezzing slows the whole process). You should be able to outpace the elite and get out of combat, but a reasonable distance should mean that your FD won't get resisted. Lather, rinse, and repeat x 4

I ran this with a 55 paladin and found that you can just place the beacons beside the doorway.
My run took about 10 min, only the fights with the 55 or 56 lvl on the ramps before the tower.
Just go beside the doorway and place the beacon on the wall directly in front of you.

Hope this helps.

one of best bob dylan song's name

here is lyrics

"There must be some way out of here," said the joker to the thief,
"There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief.
Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth,
None of them along the line know what any of it is worth."

"No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke,
"There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate,
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late."

All along the watchtower, princes kept the view
While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too.

Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl,
Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl.

and dont forgot

"princes turn mad, run to the hills run for your lifes"

btw its a hunter song XD

Although the quest is listed as elite in your quest log, I was able to solo it as a 56 rogue.&nbsp For some reason, there were no elites out front of the towers so I was able to kill the normal mobs outside and then by standing to the side of the doorway, use the quest item without agroing the elite inside.&nbsp Later when I went back, there was a 57 elite outside the door of each tower as well as inside.&nbsp I was lvl 58 this time, took out the elites with a 57 shaman partner so he could do the quest.&nbsp Obviously rogues will have an advantage in this quest because they can use the torch without becoming visible until the cast time is up.. and then vanish.

I'm 58 rogue, figured i'd give the 56 elite a go, even though i'd already flagged the tower...

These guys are tough! I was double stun-locking him thanks to 'preparation' skill, but when he came to, he got a couple normal hits on me - i had him down below half, but then he crit hit me for 882 damage, then mortal strike'd me for 718. in 2 swipes he took me from almost half life to dead. careful with these guys.

Quite simple if done sneakily. Before reading these comments, I found out the trick where you plant the beacon outside the door by myself. watch your adds and bring a health potion or two for the searing ghouls, and you'll be fine. Good luck.

If you and a friend both have this quest, an easy way to do it is have one of you fight the Elite while the other plants a torch - it will count for the both of you.

If you're both over 56 or so, you should just take out the Elite for Invader's Scourgestones, but otherwise this is a tried and true method.

One torch WILL count for the both of you, provided that you're in the same party.

After torch is planted, just feign death, vanish, stun and run, etc. [Clear outside the entrance for clean getaway beforehand!]

If you do not have a healthy healer and tank, you may want to keep your distance from the entrance of the towers and just get close enough to light the fire.&nbsp The first tower we (54 Shaman Elemental Spec & 55 Shaman Enchancement Spec) rushed into the tower after removing the non-elites and we were soon surprised.&nbsp The elite was hitting us for 250-350 each hit, but every 3rd-4th hit he was hitting us for over 1000.&nbsp After a Major Healing potion and the other Shaman (took a superior healing potion) was healing continuously, we finally killed it...but were very careful with the rest of them.

Cheers

If you are a warrior and have problems, get some invisibility potions.. It's easy. You need at least 4 potions. Use one potion, get really close to the doorway of one tower, use the torch, after it's finished, you probably did aggro the elite so run away from him. Do it with each tower. And the cooldown on the potions are 10 min, but you can grind while you wait for it. Easy.

Very easy, cuz at lvl 55 (rogue) i didnt have to fight any elites, and i didnt have to use stealth.
I simply killed the single mob on the ramp, then placed, at the SIDE of doorway, in such a position that teh elite mob inside the towers couldnt see me. Didnt have to use stealth or anything and didnt aggro when using beacon either

Actually, as a NE Rogue, you got it made.

Kill reg mob in front of tower, stealth to doorway (or to the side as previously mentioned) and start the marking in stealth. As soon as it's completed, hit Shadowmeld and wait to re-enter normal stealth to quietly slip away...

Did it as Lvl 52 Warrior... and 4 lesser invisiblity potions.
Run into the city, died just in front of tower. Ress, potion (gives 15 secs of invisibility). Walked to the door and lit the torch.
Repeat 4 times.
