Kirtonos the Herald

Return to the Scholomance with the Blood of Innocents. Find the porch and place the Blood of Innocents in the brazier. Kirtonos will come to feast upon your soul.

Fight valiantly, do not give an inch! Destroy Kirtonos and return to Eva Sarkhoff.

This is it, <name>.

The blood of innocents. The purest blood, used to appease Krastinov's master.

It is with this blood that Kirtonos may be summoned. It is with this blood, then, that Kirtonos must be destroyed.

Take the blood to the porch. Place it upon the brazier. Kirtonos will come - he cannot resist. When he appears, unleash the fury and wrath of a thousand innocent deaths upon him.

Should you succeed, you will earn more than just our gratitude.

If you fail this quest, you can abandon and re-take it. You Will need to reset the instance to "summon" Kirtonos again.

I managed to solo up to Kirtonos the Herald late one night (shadow priest) - and stayed in the instance until guildies came on in the morning - all the while i was running back and forth keeping the path clear by taking out the mobs as they respawned.
(used a lot of spare armour bits and ran out of food and water though).

I gave a shout, guildies came down and ran straight through to help me kill Kirtonos the Herald. He is in this room that has a big window overlooking the lake. (just off of the Chamber of Summoning).
Would of gone smoothly but he has some kind of kick - or knockedback, and right near the end as he only had a little smudge of health left - he knocked me straight out the room into the lake. Next thing i know as im typing "i got knocked out the room" - the other priest comes flying out too. (git).

So beware his knockback effect. I had to abandon the quest and re-take it to get more blood, and reset the instance to get Kirtonos to respawn.

2nd attempt we had a pet (bat) tank him as we did very slow dps, with me pw shielding the bat, and the other priest healing the bat.
Didn't see any kind of knockback the second time...

In response to TiznaraN - you equip the Spectral Essence to see the ghosts in Caer Darrow, this lets you talk to an npc called Magistrate Marduke just outside of the instance entrance, who then gives you the Ras Frostwhisper quest.

When you get to this quest and summon Kirtonos. If he DOES NOT DROP Boots of Valor, then ABANDON the quest and talk to the spirit outside Scholomance and she will give u the quest AGAIN and ANOTHER BLOOD OF INNOCENTS. So u can summon him over and over until he drops ur Boots of Valor, and then turn in the quest.

I didnt dawn on me to do that until after i turned in the quest and now its the last piece i need and have to rely on others that are on that part to summon him for my boots.

Or i can kill 3 mobs in Scholomance for a chance they will drop another blood, Krastinov The Butcher, Jandice Barov (pain in the ars to get to) and the Blood Steward of Kirtonos who is in the first room u get to in the far right corner (looks like a Succubus (chic with wings)).

U don't need to repeat the quest... When u have copleted it u just need to kill the succubus in the first room and she'll dropps the blood 100% !

Pretty fun (and easy) quests overall. The Spectral Essence is the trinket that allows you to see the vendor (https://classicdb.ch/?npc=11278) in the little town outside Scholomance. The vendor carries the Major Mana recipe, as well some others ( https://classicdb.ch/?npc=11278#M0zc ). So, if Gandling hasn't dropped the recipe for you yet, you can still purchase it if you don't feel like getting robbed at the auction house. :)

Go down the stairs, thru the 3 closed gates to the room with the summoners, necros standing around pits of bones, summoning skeletons. There you can go straight on, or to the right, go to the right and you can see out of scholo, down the stair there you have the brazier.

After you do this quest, Krastinov will drop additional blood in the future. So more runs of Kirtonos will require hitting Krastinov first for the summoning.

Anyone knows what happens if you die fighting Kirtonos ? i've abadoned the quest and repicked it up, got the item to summon him, but i cannot summon the boss at the brazier ...
We have cleared the dungeon, then we tried killing him, but.. we failed.

EDIT: You have to reset the dungeon if you fail to kill him, in order to resummon him !

BTW, he hits like a train. He hits for over 600dmg on a 8k armor. Bring a healer, even though you're 70 !

Do you have to choose between all three rewards or just between Mirah's Song and Penelope's Rose?

Basically, I'm asking if you get the trinket and one of the Blue's as a reward.

what if you throw away your spectral essence can you get another one? i already did the quest you get from the guy inside the castle thing in caer darrow is there a reason to keep it for longer?

The Plan is BOP so the only way to get the recipy is to either hope that it drops off Gangling or do the quest and buy the plan off the guy.

The only mob with a 100% drop rate of the blood is the Blood Stewart. Both Jandice and Krastinov have a ~10% chance to drop it. Kirtonos the Herald quest must be completed beforehand.

That room has a good chance of aggroing unwanted mobs and is generally a pain to get to her in the first place. I think it's easier to take out about 5 groups of mobs which could take about 2 minutes each and then take down Kirtonos. It could take about 10-15 minutes for each run and the only setback would be the limit for killing a boss per hour. In other words, the Boots of Valor is pretty easy to get and besides that, you can get an easy Scourgestone and a good blue that Kirtonos drops.

as of my posting this. it seems the trinket's aura will only apply to me if i completely unequip one trinket, then place this in it's spot. if i try to right click to hotswap this with another, it will equip but i will not be able to see the ghosts. just tried this a few times to make sure

This guy is important to us warriors who want the full set of valor, as he is the only one who drops our valor boots at a 10% rate. I’m assuming that once you get the blood from the bag, you can not get it again to summon him after you complete this quest. The other mobs that are shown to drop the blood are:

Blood Steward of Kritonos (rare spawn) 46.79%
Jandice Barov 8.62%
Dr Theolen Krastinov 11.67%

I’ve kill the Dr a bunch in a raid, and have yet to see the blood drop, so it must only be a party drop from all these 3 mobs correct? The stats above are also counting raid kill drops. Do any valor boot wearing warriors out there know if this blood drops off these mobs at a 100% in a group? This would at least make it a little easier … I dread having to farm these mobs with a 5 man party just to get a chance to get the blood, summon Krinotos, and then have a 10% chance to get a valor boot drop …

First attempt was a disater. Our druid died i then died, pala ressed the druid..and says "loot time"..i get ressed and its too late the group loots without me and worse the boots of valor drop. I was gutted

Second attempt we killed him (different group) and the boots didnt drop

Now i need to get more of the Bool of the innocents.

Once you have done the quest and summoned kirtinos and completed the quest, you will be able to loot more blood from the bosses in scholomance. In my experience it drops of a random boss, so if you for example skip jandice (which i often do if possible) you might not get new blood since it is jandice dropping blood this scholo run. I have looted it from several different bosses there, so its not just krastinov or kirtinos that drops it.

1st attempt: kirtonos punted the priest out the window and into the lake

2nd attempt: blizz lag spike... i died first and watched kirtonos autoattack the party to death one by one while everyone was dc'd

I have fought him before the patch and it was a tough fight. He would punt ppl all over the place and when you were punted you lost aggro and he would attack the next highest aggro (usually a cloth wearer). But fought him again last night and he would control players and make them heal him. So you fight like hell to get him down to 50% then he controls a player to heal him back to 100%. We had a good experienced group, but we didn't even come close. On hindsight I would try to clear the room above him completely and then have the tank pull him into the room and have the healers just within range of healing. Maybe they will be out of range for Kirtonos to control, because your only other option is to fight him without a healer anywhere close.

He followup to this quest (The Human, Ras Frostwhisper) is now broken. The "Specral Essence" is required to see and speak with the questgiver, but since the questgiver is inside the building (which counts as Scholomance, not Caer Darrow), the trinket no longer works inside and you can no longer see him to get the quest.

Even though it has always said that it only works on Caer Darrow, the "Spectral Essence" used to work anywhere, which is how some Priests were getting their Splinter of Nordrassil before they had their eye from Majordomo's chest. Blizzard "fixed" it so that it really does only work on Caer Darrow, and in the process they broke this questline.
