  •
Dun Garok Rifleman slain (4)
  •
Dun Garok Priest slain (2)
  •
Captain Ironhill slain

Description

Dwarves aiding the humans? Damn those filthy little beasts.

We shall test the strength of the so-called Alliance. We'll see how anxious those little ankle-bashers are to help the humans once they feel our wrath. We know exactly where their stronghold is in this territory.

They have established a barracks in southeastern Hillsbrad along Thoradin's Wall called Dun Garok. The final mission of this battle is to lay siege on Dun Garok, <class>. Captain Ironhill, their leader, must die.

There is a step missing in between this step and the kill Mayor step:

Objectives:

Kill Foreman Bonds and 10 Hillsbrad Miners and report back to Darthalia in Tarren Mill.

Game Description:

The Hillsbrad Town Registry indicates that the Azureload Mine is under Alliance control. Furthermore, the mine is a prime source of iron ore for the Alliance armories.

Even though we've struck a decisive blow to the town of Hillsbrad, the Alliance still supports and protects the Azureload Mine fervently.

The mine lies due south of Hillsbrad. Go there and slay the foreman, a human by the name of Bonds. Kill his miners as well. That should send a clear message to the Alliance.

Rewards:

You will receive 16 sp, 50 cp

As of patch 2.3 the mobs in Dun Garok are no longer elite, so this quest can be done solo at its level.

Capt. ironhill can spawn either downstairs in the dining room or upstairs in a barracks like room. I think he was level 34. Thinking he was downstairs, we pulled into the room at the bottom of the stairs, which leads into the upper portion of the dining room. With the right timing you can get 1 or 2 per pull. If he is upstairs then we pulled to the top of the stairs. Its best to clear the room to the left of the capt's room to avoid extra adds when you fight him. Runners can be a major problem up there and will lead to some nice trains if they get away since the space is tight.

Just a warning for some reason I kept getting aggro from up above in the big room with the steam tanks. There were riflemen up there that kept sniping me then would chase down the strairs bringing about 10 of their friends. If this happens to you id suggest running to the opposite side of the room and dieing at the bottom of the stairs as that spot seemed to be safe to res/buff. Dunno if this was a bug or just the fact that riflemen were up there and i was an orc or what but the undead and troll i was with did not have the problem. Perhaps im just unlucky.

Been in 2 groups that entered Dun Garok.

It's really easy to aggro adds in here, and the dwarves don't drop easily unless the whole party can gank a single dwarf. Dealing with multiple dwarves can turn into a chaos of injured runners and dead PC squishies.
The respawn rate is rather fast, and the mobs are rather close together in most places (a pull of one is unusual usually you get at least two mobs).

If you want a preview of the keep layout, do the Gann's quests in the southern Barrens. Apparently the same architect designed both places )
Be sure to familiarize yourself with all three levels. There is a main floor, a basement area, and an upstairs with two wings.

Captain Ironhill spawned for us twice in the basement and once in an upstairs wing.

No, he's not always at the bottom - don't be so fast to make incorrect assumptions. Just because you killed him once at the bottom, does not mean he will respawn there again. He has been sighted at the top and bottom - and we just spent 90 minutes in there and didn't see him once.&nbsp

He moves around.&nbsp I've done the quest now quite a few times, most times he's on the bottom, sometimes he's in a wing, sometimes he's at the tables, just look around.&nbsp You can't give coords to something that moves...I understand his point.

Didnt have a great deal of fun doing this quest, mostly because Captain Ironhill spawns in different places and there tended to be multiple groups in Dun Garok looking for him at the same time. So a couple of times we were caught out looking in the wrong spot and another group ganked him before we did. Add to that the quick respawn rate of all the silly dwarves, and it quickly turned into a real headache.

Got him eventually, but you know, the quest kinda sucked.

All three of the quests in Dun Garok (Humbert's Sword, Battle of Hillsbrad 2nd to last part, and Elixir of Agony 2nd to last part) are all easily soloable at level 28+. That hardest mob you'll fight is Captain Ironhill who is level 32, the rest of the mobs are level 28-30.

The pulls in there are absolutely horrible to do. If you time it just right, you can get up to 4 at once attacking you. Best in a group of 3. Captain was in tank room, up the stairs.

The pulls are now spread apart in the keep since Patch 2.3.0, which means most classes should be able to do this without a group, apart from perhaps Holy Priests or other builds which can't quite manage the DPS to stop the Dwarves from running to tell other NPCs.

Captain Ironhill is a level 32 normal now, easily killed at level 31, he has just over 1000 hp and hardly uses any special abilities.

Ok...Did this with a group of 31 Mage, 31 Warlock w/Sucubus, 30 Druid and myself as a 31 Shaman. Pretty easy if you just pull smartly... 4 totem drop worked great as well... Loc @ Coors 68,76.

Do this along with [30+] Humbert's Sword (from NPC in grave yard in Tauren Mill... (get Humbert's Sword from a MOB down here...))

Watch out for the Agro when in the basement of the Keep...Easy to die in here!!!
