The Principal Source

Use the Empty Dreadmist Peak Sampler to draw a sample of water from a pool at the top of the peak.

Deliver the Filled Dreadmist Peak Sampler to Tonga Runetotem at the Crossroads, Barrens.
Filled Dreadmist Peak Sampler
Provided Item:
Empty Dreadmist Peak Sampler

Description

Dreadmist Peak to the northwest of the Crossroads is most likely a primary candidate as to the source of the spread of the poison. Its airy peaks have pools of water that influence the weather patterns. I suspect the water is now tainted by the demon-worshipping Burning Blade.

Use this sampler to draw water from the pool at the very top of the peak. Once filled, deliver it to Tonga Runetotem at the Crossroads. He is the one that requested our aid, and you will work with him to address this malady.

I don't have a 'coordinate system' but its isn't too hard to find.. If you look on your map of CrossRoads you'll see a peak NW of the city... go PAST that mountain and pick the next peak to the north.. they best approach IMO is the souteast face because u can bypass the major Burning Blade Accolyte camp.. walk on up to the top (you may have to zig-zag a bit to get there) and you'll enter the peak area (easy to know as your screen turns dark and red from the mist).. Once on the top you have to kill a few accolytes (they WILL double you if they are in pairs.. a mage and a melee)&nbsp .. walk into the pool and dblclick the flask.. it will fill.. DO THIS QUICKLY if you wish to get down.. the respawn is pretty quick.. I got killed like a doof because I hung around. My "spot" shown on this pic is just south of the peak

I found the area at the top of Dreadmist Peak to be really difficult to see because of the red haze, obviously an affect to enhance the atmosphere of the area. I got through the mobs OK on either side of the pond (they don't all attack together) but when I filled the flask, 3 more appeared out of nowhere to attack. Not sure if this was a respawn or meant to happen, just a warning to others. Run, fast after you've filled the flask!

Dreadmist Peak is located Northwest of Crossroads at 47,16. Travel up to the top and you will see a small pond above the cave, with 4-6 mobs around it. You will also see an Undead that is Yellow to you and will not attack you, until you fill the flask. Once you fill it just run down or kill him.

The exact location is 47,18
Kill the orcs that surround the lake and fill the flask.
When completed, some lvl 13 mobs get up from the ground and the red haze disappear...

Good luck

The previous coordinates are incorrect, I almost went the wrong way following the ones above. Exact coordinates are 48.4,18.9 (click link for map if you don't have coordinates).

I was able to fill the vial up, but I forgot about the adds and I wasn't prepared, managed to take two out, but I ended up dying.

The key is to go up the southeastern face. kill the two mobs next to the tent. Then root one of the mobs by the pool, take down the other, then switch to bear form and take down the one you rooted. You have to step into the water to get the vial filled. Careful not to aggro the other mobs there. As soon as it's filled, switch to bear form and hightail it out before they can get to you.

Not hard at all if you don't stick around like others have said.

((That's what SHE said...))

But, yes, for a 14th level Druid this isn't a cakewalk. There are too many 15-17 level Stormscale Nagas around to get close to the place easily, let alone deal with the Stormscale Toxicologists that pop up after you do the collecting.

First things first, though. Find the river (probably the bridge will be the first you see of it) and follow it into the cliffs to the SE. When you see a log crossing the stream, that's your cue to go to the north bank. There will be a path leading all the way up the falls. The point you need to secondary-click your vial is where the falls from above split into two streams of water in front of a cave opening. (Do NOT go in the cave unless you're capable of killing the fighters and mages there. There was only one chest in the whole cave complex when I poked my nose in. Not really worth it.)

Have to admit, I cleared the place out with my level 49 Warrior, between waiting for the mithril lodes to respawn (he's a Blacksmith and needs 108 Mithril Bars for the Armorsmith quest... that's BEYOND the ones he had to give to Galvan the Ancient, and make for Trenton Lighthammer.. argh). If you have the resources to do this, it'll make your life a lot more pleasant. And when the Toxicologists show up, like many others have said, dive off the falls. If you do it quickly enough after drawing the water you'll survive the fall.

run up from the XR to 48,19 its a small green pool with about 4 lvl 11-13s guarding it, kill them and use the flask in the pool, 3 lvl 11-13s will spawn and start attacking you, either kill them or run, its an easy Q.

OK first. Find the mountain then kill your way up, only kill the necesary mobs.

When up u kill em there, 2 mobs at a time is no problem for a druid lvl 14.

When all is cleared around water u take the water.

Now u have 2 choices.

#1: Either jump down and run like hell because 3 mobs will spawn there in some seconds.

#2: Do like me, Let the mobs kill you, Use spirit healer at xroads. pay 2 silvers for repair and wolla your done =) Much quicker way to get back. takes 5-10 minutes to run :P

A word of advice on surviving the spawns: Clear the 4 or so mobs around the pool, cast regrowth, grab water, bear form and run. You will survive even if you forget to go bear form (like I did. :) )

I'm not sure where to submit updated info on a quest, so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

In the meantime, the quest starts with any Druid Trainer.
The peak in question is located NNW of the Orc Crossroads camp. The peak does not appear on your map until you discover it.
As for nagas, I don't know about them, but about three of the Burning Blade Orcs attack once you draw the water.
There is also a level 25 undead on top of the peak next to a fire, but he didn't seem to agro.

Well... here's my journey:

I journeyed nicely up the mountain and ran around like a fool to get on the top afterwards. When i came up, i killed 4 enemies and started fishing in the water.
I caught a Longjaw Mudsnapper with 25 in fishing without anything on my rod.

PART 1:
Facts:
The mobs on the very mountain is level 10-12. I killed them easily. I'm a level 14 druid.

I traveled up the mountain directly when i came to it, took nearest way that wasn't even logic to work, and success, i came up. I dont know if there'd be enemies in a "real way" but here it wasnt.

The mountain is just north of Crossroads. You'll see on the map if you have the west side discovered, you'll be behind a very, very big mountain (To the west) and a smaller one (to the east). This is not far away from the very entrance to Ashenvale. Take the mountain to the west.

You dont understand that discription? Ok, i'll give you another one too.

See the entrance to Ashenvale? The closest mountain south of that entrance is the correct mountain. Be prepared for level 10-12 mobs, i dont know for anything else, but if you do it right, you can easily do it at level 14.

Good luck.

PART 2:
Facts:
Well, as soon as you fill the empty potion with water, two level 14 and a level 13 spawns and tryes to kill you after about 1-3 seconds. (These levels were for me at least)

You'll be able to fend them off if you're a very skilled player and/or with potions, i believe. They pretty much equal-dps your healing if you stay with all 3 though.

For me, i ended up fleeing because another one also spawned.

You can jump down stage by stage (many stages at the mountain) if you want to run and not run into their camps, you shouldn't fall down, i didn't, it was easy to run.

For those who have bad gear or normal gear, including no potions on them, i recommend not trying to kill the spawns at all. For those who have, however, i recommend this tactic:

I wasn't looking carefully, but 1 of the spawns atleast was a melee, there was also atleast 1 caster. Entangle the melee immediately when they spawn, then go bear and kill a caster. Go normal form, heal, and re-entangle. Bearform, kill next one, normal form, heal, Rejuvenation, bear form, kill the third.

This tactic should be efficent, however you may want to make some changes.

That's all i want to say.
All-in-all a pretty easy quest, at least for me.

QUICK EXPLANATION:

For those who have co-ords: 48, 18
For those who doesnt: South of ashenvale entrance, closest mountain.

I hope it helps.
Also, i dont recommend fishing there.

Taking out the guys on top of the hill was easy. But before you get the water, figure out the quickest way down from the hill, which is, actually, to jump. Then get the water. The guys will spawn and you just run straight off the mountain. They'll aggro off you in no time.

I did this level 14, went bear right after getting the water, and jumped off, no sweat.

(Of course it might have helped that I had the mark of the warchief from somebody <.<)
