Description

The water will serve as the base of the curative salve I shall make for the gazelles. For curative properties, I need some earthroot. Herbalists know how to find it, so if you are not familiar with this skill you'll need to find one to help us out.

Finally for potency, I need kodo horns - mere chips and fragments will not suffice. Kodos you can handle wander the northern part of the Barrens; bring some down for the greater good of the balance <name>, and fetch the horns for me.

For the Horde's part of this quest, Just head North to The Sludge Fen around the area of 55,11 and kill The Lost Barrens Kodo, 100% drop rate. If you still have the quest to get the Sunscale Raptors Feathers you can also do that while you wait for the Kodo to spawn / patrol close to you. The Kodo's around this area are Levels 14-15 and very easy to kill while in Bear Form. To get the 5 earthroot, just use the Herb gathering skill (If you have it) if you don't have it then you can do 1 of 4 things. Ask someone in your guild if they can get them for you, if you don't have a guild you can get them from vendors in the Cities that are close to the Herb / Alch. trainers, check in the Auction Houses, or ask in the trade channel in a major city. Hope this helps and good luck. I am doing this quest as I type this and the kodo's have a long respawn time, so just relax, kill some stuff and get xp while you wait!!

I don't know if someone has already said this or not, but the best concentration of finding these stupid horns is around the outside of the forest part of the Stagnant Oasis (which is located just southeast of the Crossroads). I searched all over and found just 1 after like 45 minutes of searching. Then I went to the Stagnant Oasis and found the other 4 in less than 15 minutes!

Btw...the herbs can easily be found in the auction house...lol

For the Earthroots- For those of you who dont have herbalism, I found that Hula'mahi in the crossroads sells 3 earthroots for 80 copper. And for those who are also going to silverpine forest for the water form quest, after you get off the zeppelin to undercity, go north on the road and brill is right there. Inside is another alchemist "Selina Weston" who also sells earthroots for the same amount and price. If these places dont work for you, just look at earthroots and there are some other vendors and drops as well.

Now for the Kodos- On the map for the lost barrens kodos i found a huge spawn point, southeast of wailing caverns, southwest of ratchet, northwest of northwatch hold, right in the middle of all of these places. There's a small hill with a pond at the base of it. All around there are a ton of kodos(53,44 is *about* the middle of them with a lot around that spot). Again there are more places than there so just look up kodo horns, then lost barrens kodos and the map will show you some spawns.

I found mine in the triangle north and west of the Forgotten Pools. They are kinda thin, took me 20-30 minutes to find 5 of em, but every one dropped a horn. They were level 14-15, and dropped like rocks for my 14 Druid.

You can either get a herbalist to get some for you or you can get it from the auction house in orgrimmar

Northern Barrens (like the quest says) and run from 54,10 to 56,17 (repeat and rinse if you don't get 5 the first time). I got 5 of them in about 10 minutes. And the Earthroot you can get from a vendor in Crossroads usually. If you don't get 5, /1 the chat and ask if anyone has them to sell. GL

Kodos - Found many of them around 56, 11 (Thank you Suyash) - While you are in the area and working on Trail of the Sea Lion you can get your first Half Pendant of Aquatic Agility at 56, 8.

I found the Lost Barren Kodos around any of the oases in the Barrens. There's generally at least two at each, and I didn't find the respawn times to be too bad. Drop rate on the horns for me was 100%.

Whilst doing this quest, if you happen to have the herbalism quest called "Root Samples" it is a nice easy way of "killing two birds with one stone".

When hunting kodos, I had the best luck running around visiting the oases (oasises? oasii?) one by one. There was also a kodo hanging around the big green smokestack up north when I was working on that venture co. control panal quest.

I guess in the quest description, when they say northern part, they probably mean the northern half.

Kodo Horns:
Look Carefully on the quest. It says "North - Barrens" not "North - of Crossroads"

I found them in the southeastern oasis, around it. Well seriously, i killed my first north of crossroads, but it was like, 1 spawn there, and then i looked more closely and saw north in barrens, so i ran down to the oasis. There was many kodos, and i killed 4 in about 5 minutes.
If you're level 17 or less:
Watch out for the level 19 patroller with 2 level 15-17 guards. He nearly got me once.

Earthroot: Buy on AH. If you're poor, buy at the herbalist in crossroads. He use to sell about 1-2 earthroots every half hour or so. And if you're a herbalist, you could also go up the mountains or such, i guess there should be many there, but i have not much experience from herb gathering.

The Oasis Co-ords: 55,43 for those who have co-ords.
For those who does not: Southeast of crossroads, or west of ratchet. Maybe minimally south of ratchet too (Southwest)

The quest directions are retarded. Wandering Kodos are found all over.. even south of the X-Rds. I spent over an hour all up north when I could have started south and worked my way up north. I feel like such a tool. I knew better from hunting the Barrens with my other toons but, silly me, I thought maybe there was something "special" about the northern Kodos. There's not. I got my last 2 south of X-rds near the oasis.

I did happen on 2 past Gold'rom farm near the road to Durotor.

Just watch out for all the critters that will jump you as you look for these guys and you should be able to do this at Lev 14 with no problem. {I only died twice not being careful} Just takes time finding them.

And, since I'm not a flower picker, I just bought some Earthroot from the auction house. Unless you have herbalisim, or a friend that will give you 5, I suggest scouting the AH for a few cheap ones first. Leave them in you mailbox to grab in X-rds after you get the horns to save on bag space..if you are like me with 3 itty bitty bags. LOL

I had better luck looking for these kodos around the oasis. 54,11 just didnt cut it. they respawn to long and on top of that, the area is heavily populated with raptors and hyenas.
