Zanzil's Mixture (12)

Description

Zanzil the Outcast dwells with his followers in the Jubuwal and Aboraz Ruins, northeast of Booty Bay. He is exiled from his tribe. Why? Well...

Zanzil has methods of bending the minds of others, and his leaders fear him. He uses a mixture of jungle plants on his followers to suppress their will and strengthen their bodies.

His mixture would be worth much to those who wish to control others.

Bring me samples of his mixture, and I will find a use for them.

This quest is a good one to couple with Voodoo Dues (https://classicdb.ch/?quest=609), since the target mobs for that quest are surrounded by mobs that drop the Mixture.

Dont bother with the Ruins of Jubuwal.&nbsp Mobs to tighly in there, you will get adds, and its over camped.

Look at your map, SE of Jubuwal you will see another temple icon, its the Aboraz Ruins.&nbsp Doesn't show up on map as that but it is.&nbsp Cords (38,57) or approach from sea at (40,59)

There are pleanty of single pull mobs all around this temple, and drops are normal.

Solo'd this one at level 42 at the Ruins of Aboraz, slightly NE of the Spirit Den on the coast. Lots of undead, so fun for paladins. The witch doctors cast shadow magic, and they will run, the undead don't of course.

i made this quest around 41.58 on the beach.. ( Stranglethorn Vale )
there were a lot of :
Zanzil Naga https://classicdb.ch/?npc=1491
Zanzil Zombie https://classicdb.ch/?npc=1488
Zanzil Witch Doctor https://classicdb.ch/?npc=1490
with a good drop rate.

the best place to farm this quest is the ruins by the ocean (40,59)

the mobs dont agro that bad, they're spread out, and i see few people there. The other ruins have everything right next to each other making chain agro easy, plus its right next to the road making you the perfect convenient gank.

This NPC map - https://classicdb.ch/?npc=1489 - shows the basic location of the creatures that drop the mixtures. A good group can knock this quest out rather quickly the drop rate is rather quick.

It is also useful to keep in mind that the Zanzil Zombies spread a disease that lowers attack speed and increases casting time by 33%, with a 5% chance to spread to allies. It lasts 4 minutes, so I suggest grinding off the other mobs.

lol @ 2 hours,, and don't just kill zombies!

Got it from znzil nagas at Aboraz too.
Took me about 15 min solo to complete the quest.

(low xp for 2h? they give 200+ each so... )

For those who seem to have such horrible drop rates, here is one thing that I have found.

&nbsp If you do the quest in a group the drop rate is almost non-existant.&nbsp Myself and a friend were doing the quest and after about 30-40 kills without a single drop we were quite discouraged.&nbsp Then we decided to try soloing the quest.. with each of us taging mobs and the other helping out all of a sudden the drop rate jumped up to nearly 50% maybe even more for certain types of mobs.

&nbsp Just something I wanted to add in since it seemed to make such a huge difference.

I'm a lvl 50 NE Hunter with lvl 49 pet so it's green to me. Took me 15 minutes. I cleared out the area around the camp fire. No where else. Nagas, witchdoctors, hunters and Zombies dropped some. I got one from Jon-Jon the Crow. he repawned and dropped another. Scored pg 8, 10, 18 and 21 of the Green Hills quest and (Lodestone Necklace of Intellect). 10 Intellect. It dropped off a Witchdoctor.

Go north out of Booty Bay and immediately head east to the ocean.&nbsp Follow the coastline north until you hit the Zanzil guys.&nbsp I found the best drops are off of the zombies and hunters.&nbsp

Not too tricky, soloed at lvl 44 rogue... Dies only once when I aggroed the bunch in the middle square of the ruins. Be careful here as Zanzil summons guardians to help him. (Kinda like the embalmer quest on Duskwood)

So just kill kill kill, but beware the group in the middle of the ruins :)

everybody is complaining about the aweful drop rate, but obviously non of them pays attention who actually drops it. finished the quest in 20min, easy, cause the hunters have an almost 95% drop rate of it, but they also the hardest to kill. the other mob has a drop rate of less than 10% and much easier to kill, so reward comes with effort.

I started doing this quest in the Ruins of Jubuwal (35,51) and got a drop every... oh... 10 or so? and i got swarmed so many times it was rediculous. so i moved to the ruins of Aboraz (39,58) and had a MUCH better time. i got a drop every 3 kills or so, and the creatures are MUCH more spread out. never got swarmed once. DEFINITLY suggest Aboraz for this quest.

I solo'd this in about a 1/2 hour as a 43 rogue with a nice drop rate.&nbsp I did it at the camp by the sea and it was easy to make a circle around the outside and pick off the individual guys.&nbsp Witchdoctors, Nagas, Zombies, and hunters all dropped.

This is a long boring quest. I had to grind it out for prbably an hour to get the quest requiremets. I though for all the work, the reward was small. There should be a higher drop rate, or a better reward for this one. Be prepared to hang out in this area for a while.

Also, since the drop rate is the best off the Zanzil Zombies, if you have done any of the quests up in the Kurzen's Compound area (44, 10) the mobs there drop Jungle Remedy http://classicdb.ch/?item=2633 Which removes the Contagion of Rot (http://classicdb.ch/?spell=7102) Disease they put on you, but it's a 2 min cool down, so grind on the others around there until the cool down is done or something.

Hey,I just found out what to do after this quest. You need to do the quest chain starting from the dwarf named Kravel in the shimmering flats and eventually you'll get one called "rumors for Kravel" or something like that. Thats where this stuff is used. Kravel wants you to go to BB and get something to "dull the mind", yadda yadda, and when you get back to BB the guy in the inn that you gave the mixture to has a quest for you to take back to Kravel. I spent 20 minutes going back and forth between BB and the shimmering flats, but ended up with around 5000 XP. Not bad.

Started this around the same time as Voodoo Dues, lvl40, by lvl 45 i finally finished it.

The drop rate is atrocious, really really bad, as above the co-ords are spot on, but this is one best left for moments between quests rather than one to do by itself..it takes forever.

Why do most of the description of Booty Bay quests show "increase" in Booty Bay rep with increase in quotes? It is an increase in your rep, right? Is there no benefit for raising Booty Bay rep? Is it because it also usually is accompanied by a decrease with Bloodsail Buccaneers rep? Just wondering because even some posters are using the quotes on increase.

perseuscal is right...coords 40, 57 along the shore. It drops on almost every kill. The Zanzil's are perfectly spaced apart and the spawn rate is perfect...you don't have to wait for them but you don't have to worry about them spawning too fast on you either...Cake

This quest really is not very good. Three reasons why. 1. the drop rate is absolutely terrible. 2. if you die say by getting ganked the walk is fairly long. 3. these mobs hit pretty hard for level 42-44 mobs so if you aggro more then 1 it may be kind of tough. I really would not recommend this quest unless you are desperate for experience. Oh, and btw, I tried both spots, 34,50 and 40,57 and drop rate was bad on both sites. just FYI.

You can go to 34,50 if you want everyone to lvl to 60 while you are still a 40 or you can go to 40,57 where the zanzil mixtures flow like wine.

Solo'ed this at 44 and got 3750 xp on the turn in.

The location I found them at is to leave booty bay, follow the path up north, and when you get to the fork in the road, the left going to the arena, the other continuing up north, on the rigtht hand side of the path is a small area of ruins, right off the path. I found them there.
