So then, Hollee... oh that's right, you are not Hollee. Where's Hollee?

Bah, that's beside the point. We must find that stone brush... I mean the mysterious fossil! We must find that fossil. The Explorers' League in Darnassus will want some indication as to what I've been doing.

Let me know when you are ready and we will hunt down that brush.... I mean fossil! We shall find something in writing to satisfy the League.

This quest can be soloed as long as you know what to expect and can be prepared for it. I just pulled it off with a level 21 mage. I wouldn't recommend trying to solo this before 20. This quest is easily done with two people, but if you're stuck on your own, I hope this helps get you through it.

First, note that Remtravel is indeed oblivious. He will not attack unless he is personally aggroed first, otherwise he will keep walking the scripted route. Mobs attacking you are not his concern. Mobs you aggro yourself will be ignored as well. If you let him lead, he will draw the initial aggro and stop. This can be useful if you need a few seconds to catch your breath, but don't leave him alone too long -- he can't solo these mobs and he can't withstand too much punishment from them. If more than one mob is on him, you need to intervene quickly. AoE attacks are useful here, as he rarely accumulates much threat and any decent damage will get the mobs onto you instead.

Second, avoid the use of snares (Frost Nova, Entangling Roots, etc). If you snare and attempt to pull back for a more opportune attack, the mobs will drop threat on you and switch to something else in melee range -- Remtravel.

Now to tell you what to expect, besides the golems infesting the whole place.

When you begin the escort, there are a couple tents straight ahead and a ramp and scaffold along the right side. Remtravel will eventually walk up that ramp. This cues a single trogg to spawn. This trogg always seems to ignore Remtravel and go for you, so be prepared to dispatch it quickly so Remtravel doesn't get too far ahead of you.

Shortly after this, he will investigate Hollee's tent (he will comment "Oh, that's Hollee's tent, and it's empty") Two troggs will spawn from the back right corner of the camp and go for Remtravel.

Now he will start walking down into the more open area of the dig site. At the far end, straight ahead, is another ramp and scaffold, with a small hill to the left. Remember this spot.

His path will take him down into the dig site, to the left and back around the other side of the wall to the dead end, then turn around and start heading back out to the start point. On his way out, he will investigate that ramp and scaffold I mentioned earlier. When he does, this will trigger two troggs to spawn on the hill to the left, one of them being a caster that likes Fireball. The caster will drop Remtravel in two shots, so you need to draw its aggro immediately. Personally I stood on the hill and cast Fire Blast on it while it was spawning. Even so, it will get one Fireball off on Remtravel before switching to you (both troggs aggro Remtravel immediately upon spawning), so you also need to get the melee trogg off of him and then take them both down before they manage to kill you instead.

If you get past this, you're pretty much clear, you just have to get him back to the front, past the few golems that have respawned, but those should be easy compared to what you just did.

I believe it's this way for almost all of the escort quests, but let them lead the way and get attacked.&nbsp This way they'll participate in the fight.&nbsp Otherwise, you'll notice, that if you start clearing ahead of him, he'll go on his merry way, and while you're fighting, he'll happily walk past you.&nbsp He'll probably even aggro other things, adding to your troubles.&nbsp So let him go first, and let him get attacked and make sure he's fighting before you join in.&nbsp )&nbsp Make him work!&nbsp Damn guy is absent minded anyway.&nbsp All this damn work just to find out he left his fossil with the other chick.&nbsp *mutters*&nbsp =)

Unfortunately, this quest is a bit buggy.&nbsp I decided to run through this quest 2 times with my level 50 main druid, before trying it with my alt.&nbsp

The first time I cleared everything in the immediate area, down the stairs and the first level of golems I thought would try to attack him. I then initiated the escort and went into stealthed feral form.&nbsp I only went as far as him wandering around the encampment.&nbsp He wanders around, goes up the board ramp & a scout comes out of the bottom and attacks you (even though I tried to stay out of range).

Then he looks in the tent.&nbsp At that time, another scout comes out...the first time it followed him, but never attacked him.&nbsp The second time, two scouts came out and attacked him as he was making his way down the stairs, upon which a stone golem jumped into the fray, making three and he was dead before I could get out feral form.&nbsp When I'd cleared the camp the first time, the golems that were in the back area, which I considered out of aggro range, well they weren't and they also killed him...he drops fast.

My conclusion is that at least in the encampment, he is going to aggro every golem in there.&nbsp Once outside, if he's like other escort quests, you're probably safe to follow him and not take any extras on.&nbsp Usually when the escortee says something, that's your cue that the boogeymen are going to come running up shortly.

If you come to the area and can't find him, it means that someone is either doing the escort, or that they failed.&nbsp He will usually respawn within about 5 mins or so.&nbsp Also the golems have a varied spawn time, making it difficult for a higher level to clear the camp (ahem) and let him walk free (he's a pokey devil).&nbsp By my estimations, some of them are on 4 minutes and the others between 7 and 10.&nbsp

I also noticed on the 2nd failure that the two scouts remained activated.&nbsp They were at the far end straight ahead from where you first start the escort, so that would be a clue if you can't find Remtravel up, that someone else has failed and he'll be along shortly.
Good luck!

This can be a little tough, I would suggest at least a couple other people for help. The prospector walks all the way through the ruins pulling everything, including things that spawn if he passes. All of the creatures are at least level 18, you will be dealing with at least three at a time. Also he has very low life and can be killed easily, make sure he doesn't get hit too often. As hard as it is I would definatly do this quest, it leads to a series that gives great exp and rewards.

I did this quest on my fire mage at lv 21. I let the escort lead the way, and when it seemed that he would pull a mob, I began to cast pyro - I followed this up with a fireball, and then fireblast, and most mobs were dead or near death (if not dead, I just wanded).

For any of the multiple trogg spawns, I waited to see who the escort was targetting (by targetting him and pressing assist [default: F]), and sheeped them. I then cast fireblast to get aggro, put up a mana shield, and proceeded to wand. I did the same with the sheeped mob.

Multiple golem aggro was more of a problem due to not being sheepable. For the most part, I used mana shield and arcane exploded (I've focused on sta and int with my gear, so this was not too risky).

The two important notes are to hang back, and let the escort do all the aggroing - while it may seem safer to clear the path ahead early, the dwarf often doesn't help, and worse, will continue walking and may aggro more mobs. Also, with the bizarre respawning of the elementals, you may get more mobs than you can handle. Secondly, eat and drink whenever possible. If there are multiple mobs on the escort, you may need to mana shield and run in to arcane explosion. Not an easy thing to do when you're running low on health and mana.

If you're careful, you should be able to do it. Of course, get a friend and it should be a tonne easier. =)

Hard to believe the Wowhead report that this guy has 410 HP. I'd honestly estimate that he has more like 200 at most, which is the main reason why anyone would find this quest difficult - if you don't immediately peel mobs off of him he'll die and it's over.

This is one of the most annoying quests I have ever attempted.&nbsp Was a level 22 Hunter with a level 22 cat at the time.&nbsp Before I even talked to the prospector, I first cleared the camp of golems and took a look around to see if there were any hidden mobs.&nbsp No hidden mobs.&nbsp

The problem is that the golems respawn quickly and irregularly so that by the the time I had killed the final golem, they had begun respawning at the start.&nbsp And when I killed those off, one or two had respawned in the back.&nbsp So I had to go back and kill them off, and finally the camp was clear.

So I dashed back to the prospector and started him off on his search.&nbsp I went along by his side until he climbed the stairs to the first construction landing.&nbsp He came back down and as he reached the ground, a scout spawned and jumped out from under the construction landing and began attacking the prospector, who began fighting back.&nbsp THIS was a real surprise (since I hadn't read the thottbot comments on this quest), so I wasn't ready for it.&nbsp Anyway, my pet and I soon killed the scout.

Then the prospector meandered around some more, looking here and there.&nbsp Another golem appeared, which I dispatched quickly.&nbsp In the meantime, the prospector had gone into a tent at the far end of the camp.&nbsp When he came out, two scouts suddenly spawned and dashed out after him: one attacked the prospector, and one attacked me.&nbsp I set my pet on the one attacking the prospector, and I meleed the other.&nbsp At this point, a golem spawned right next to us and began whomping the prospector.&nbsp Well, my pet and I lived, but the prospector died. :(

Several more golems had appeared in the meantime, so I killed them off and left the camp.&nbsp After about ten or fifteen minutes, the prospector reappeared at his initial spot.&nbsp Wanting to avoid the tedium of redoing this quest without a healer along to keep the prospector alive, I did not repeat the quest.

Make sure you let the prospector walk first, or else the Golems will agro on you instead of him. He will not stop to help you like most Escort quests, but move along instead. It's vital that you let him go first. Also, he is healable, so his health shouldn't be a problem if you can heal or use a bandage on him.

Mage / Druid combo is the way that I did this one. The mage went ahead and cleared mobs before the prospector aggroed them, and I (druid) stayed on the prospector to heal. I'd throw a small heal on the mage every once in a while. Also buffed the prospector with MotW and thorns. He aggroed twice but I quickly took them off of him. Real easy to do.

I've tried it with a paladin and warrior at about the same level in the past, and had a really hard time doing it.&nbsp I also got lucky with the priest because there were occasions I thought for sure the guy would die but my heal got to him before the death blow.&nbsp I do agree with other comments - you are better staying a ways back and letting the mobs attack him first.&nbsp Basically I let him get aggro, cast renew on him and use the assist key to SW:Pain and wand who he is attacking.&nbsp I started casting heal when he gets about halfway through his life.&nbsp That usually pulls the mobs to you for sure, but by that time they are easy to clean up.&nbsp As soon as battle is over, do another renew on both of you so you're at full health by the time of the next encounter.&nbsp Biggest pain is the length of the quest because there are too many opportunities to screw up!

hmmm what does one do to restart this quest if we fail it... we got it down to the last mob and lost the prospector a fraction before the last mob died :( So, now it shows (Complete) in my "L" Quest Log, but the sheet says (Failed) on it. Hollee won't talk to me. I abandoned the quest, but the other party leader has "share" greyed out. Looks like this entire quest chain is completely dead, now. Or is there a way to restart it?

Clear the path of golems before starting this quest . The mobs have a very quick respawn rate so don't waste any time. Hybrid classes like Paladin, Shaman or Druid should be able to solo this quest at Lv 20 with mediocre equip. Keep in mind that Remtravel can be buffed and healed.

Easy for a hunter level 20 with a pet AND TRAINED. You just have to pray for your pet first and all will be good.

Stone guys will fall quickly with your pet tanking and your arrows doing the rest, what you just have to do is take the agro when they are more than one (Multi-Shot). You will easily resist one mob (Aspect of the Monkey) so keep focus on your pet's target, shoot him fast and send your pet on the one anoying you.

Kill the 3 fist stone guy just before you start the quest will help a bit.

Good luck

Managed this as a lvl19 hunter (lvl16 green gun, lvl15 bullets) with bear pet on second attempt. Took a trip inside first and slayed everything and then kept mobs at minimum firing range to not aggro unnecessary spawns. Make sure you swap targets with your pet so they both aggro the pet instead of the Prospector and you'll be fine.

After multiple attempts (somewhere in the area of 8-10) I was able to solo this as a 20 Priest. I found it very challenging.

Maxdsterling's advice below is very sound. However, if you are not a healing class level 22 or below, I would think this would be too difficult to solo. I could be wrong, however, the elementals do respawn quickly, and in many cases if you lag behind the Prospector and let him take all initial aggro in the deepest part of escort, he can still grab 2-3 add-ons.

I found, even on my final successful attempt, I had to throw a quick flash heal on the Prospector before I could pull aggro away to save him from certain death on multiple occasions.

My advice: Attempt to find a partner or group before deciding to try to solo. If you do attempt to solo, get comfortable. Even if you don't get it on the first couple of tries, stride to get the Prospector further through the escort each time. Careful planning, and patience, will be key to soloing this portion of the quest successfully.

Ok, soloed this w/ my 22 druid (quest still yellow) . Here's a walkthrough:

Clear out the front section of stone elementals before you start the quest, you can try to clear further, but i find the spawn rate is too fast and you end up fighting them anyways.

Start the quest, you may (depending on how fast you kill) have to deal w/ a respawned elem, but that's resonable. THE KEY PART IS: you must let Remtravel get hit/start hitting the mob FIRST before you attack it, at lvl 16, remtravel does a decent amt of dmg to the 18-20 mobs, so use this to your advantage. As a druid, mana conservation is key, drink when out of combat, and have a big pot ready if you get in over your head (i didn't use one).

Simply put, lag behind Remtravel until he screams for help, then (moonfire) attack to draw aggro so he doesn't die.

At then end, a mage/warr duo pops up and if you don't get the aggro from the mage off Remtravel on the first hit, he's as good as dead (2 firebolts = failed quest, that was attempt 1 of 2 for me, after that i learned the mage must go first, he'll flame Remtravel once cuz of the initial aggro, but if you hit him as he spawns, yr good).

After that, its a cakewalk back, a few respawns but nothing you can't handle.

A similar concept applies if you do this as a group. If you attack every mob before Remtravel acknowledges it, he'll keep walking as if nothing is bothering him. Keep him close and 'relatively' in the fight and you'll be fine.

It's good to know it's an Elite mission even though it's not listed as one. But what would be even more useful would be to know where he is.

For those that need to know, he's West, yes west, of The Master's Glave. Which is on the west side of the road very far south in Darkshore, almost at the southern end of the map for that zone. Just follow the road and you'll see The Master's Galve on your right hand side.

I pulled this one off with me (level 21 druid) and 2 level 17 druids (both heal/moonfiring(and backup tanking if we pulled too much aggro) while I majored in DD with cat form). Was a breeze. Certain i coulda done it alone, but it was easier, faster and safer with a group. Plus it gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling inside :P

Yeah, the basic rule is stay BEHIND the prospector. If he keeps walking while your fighting 2-5 mobs, your as good as failed. If you let him pull the aggro instead of trying to clear a path, he stays behind, meaning he wont pull extra aggro and he helps with killing the golems. Another tip is kill the golem the prospector is attacking LAST if you have more than one pull (of course, gain aggro from said golem before wiping the others).

A fun quest to do, especially as I could show off my new battle-rez skill :) (Healer pulled aggro through opver healing/firing, decided to rez him for the hell of it. Got my 2s of him thouh, being the cheapskate I am.)

I did this with a level 40+ player at level 20.

That was the only way.

First, we went in and killed a few of them. Don't try to do all of them because they respawn really fast. Then we started the quest...when he goes up to the right and stuff, these golems will follow him down. BE PREPARED. I even got killed with help. What you need is one player to fight the ones that WILL attack him and then go fight off the ones that do attack him. He helps you.

I was pissed off in the end though, because it turns out, he forgot that he left it with Hollee! >.<
