Lord Banehollow

Purchase Shadowy Potions from Gorzeeki in the Burning Steppes.

Use the potions to travel through Jaedenar, and speak with Lord Banehollow.

Description

Mor'zul says that you want to open a portal to Xoroth. To do that, you'll need Xorothian stardust. That's not easy to find on Azeroth!

There is one being who might have some: Lord Banehollow in Jaedenar, the seat of the Shadow Council! Speak with him and he might part with the stardust.

But if you're going to Jaedenar, then you'll need to cloak yourself in the Shadow Council's own flavor of evil. That will require some of my shadowy potions, and that will cost you...

To do this quest chain:
It is recommended you have a soulstone, healthstone, and a few health pots. Drink your shadow potion at the beginning of Jaednar (no one will attack you, they are all green) & walk to Lord Banehollow at the end of Shadow Hold...which takes about 10 minutes or so. Talk to him, go back to the hollow part of the cave where the bridges are and look for Ulathek the Traitor in one of the rooms. Take out your VW, if you have not already...Talk to him & go through the dialogue. About 4 guards will attack you along w/ Ulathek. Focus fire on him & make sure VW area taunts. When he is dead, loot him. You can keep taking out the guards if you like, but I just ran away...you don't need to kill them. The only health pot i used was when I ran. Run back to Banehollow, speak w/ him, then purchase some dust from the guy behind him. BE SURE YOU HAVE 150gold BEFORE DOING THIS! Purchase the Xorothian Stardust < hearthstone > Then fly to Burning Steppes and turn in the quest.

Hi all, I am a warlock on Lightning's Blade. I just got done with this phase. My advice is to make sure you are fully healed up and have some shards on you before you try this. Have at least one superior healing potion on you and a health stone. The part of cloaking yourself with the potion is cake. Just walk all the way through the hold to the very back like others have said. Banehollow will give you the quest to kill a traitor. As others have posted, this guy has guards with him. Before you talk to the guy make sure you have a soul stone active on you. I used my improved imp on the guy and had him on aggressive. When you talk to the guy, you have to click talk a couple times and then he becomes hostile along with his guards. Concentrate on the traitor with all you have, and watch and use your healing potion and health stone as needed. I was able to kill him and all but one guy. When and if you die, let the remaining guard leave the area, and soul stone back to life. Loot the body of the traiter, and heal yourself back up. Kill the remaining mob and use one of your remaining potions to mask yourself again. Simply walk back to Banehollow, talk to him, and then talk to the guy next to him to buy the stardust....<hearthstone>.....Good luck to you

  • Go get 150 gold before you start this quest. :P
  • Go to the Shadow Hold in Felwood. It's the second cavern you see on your way into Jaedenar space.
  • Drink the Shadowy Potion right before you enter the Shadow Hold. One should hold up for the entire trek.
  • Walk all the way to the end of the underground tunnel. You will pass through a pool of red water with Vile Ooze's that WILL attack you. Run right pass by sticking to a wall. Ignore any aggro.
  • When you arrive at the second pool of red water head up the ramp and over two bridges. Lord Banehallow is a Dreadlord... huge guy with wings and horns. You won't miss him. He will instruct you to carry out a quick mission for him before he points you to the little guy standing to his left whom you can pay 150 gold to with pleasure.
  • The tricky part of his mission: https://classicdb.ch/?ccb=1&v=852088

I was a bit worried about this coming because of the above comments.&nbsp Turns out, this quest is extremely easy.&nbsp I bought the 3 charge thing for 6 gold and only ever used one charge of it.&nbsp

When I went into Jaedenar, it was a full spawn.&nbsp I aggroed everything up to the keep entrance then just used one charge of the potion.&nbsp Ran down to the oozes.&nbsp Once you are on the high ground right before the oozes, you can see there is a lip or ledge or whatever you want to call it that you want to jump on to bypass them.&nbsp Near the left wall, there is some junk on the ground.&nbsp You can jump on that, then from that, jump onto the lip (ledge thing).&nbsp Once on that you can jump off near the wall into the sludge and bypass the oozes completely.&nbsp

From there I went ahead and located the guy I was going to end up killing, then went and talked to Lord Banehollow, then went back to the guy needing to be killed.&nbsp The two mobs outside will aggro regardless of where you are when you finish talking to the guy.

This fight was much more simple than I had anticipated.&nbsp I used the void as was recommended above.&nbsp Once they aggroed, I ae taunted on void and dotted the main guy up.&nbsp I then terrored and shadowbolt the named.&nbsp He died while everything else was still feared.&nbsp I then proceeded to kill the other three with ease.&nbsp I did use deathcoil on one of the last three and had to heal my void through one channel.&nbsp Finished that fight with void completely oom and about 25 percent health left and me at about 75 percent health left.&nbsp Never healed myself at all other than the deathcoil.&nbsp

I then went back and talked to guy, talked to his apprentice and bought the dust for 150g then ran out.&nbsp By the time I got out of Jaedenar I still had 5 minutes left on the first charge.&nbsp

So, the entire thing, including running through keep took only 15 minutes.

BTW on the way out (if your hearth is down as mine was) you can bypass the oozes the same way, as there is some junk you can jump on to get up on the ledge on this side as well.

Hope this helps bring everything together for those who are about to attempt this and aids you in your travels.&nbsp Good Luck!

Remember that it's not the first cave when you reach Jaedenar, but the one past it! It will say "Shadow Hold" when you enter the correct cave! Just continue past the first cave and go through a winding path. You'll see a GREEN POOL at the correct spot, and the real cave near it.

Remember to bring 150g with you to buy the quest item (no other way around it)!

This is what you should do:

1. Buy Potions from the Goblin. 1 pot (with 3 charges) will be enough.
2. Go to Jaedenar in Felwood (bring at least 150G with you).
3. Enter Jaedenar's Northwest tunnel that you can see on your map.
4. Drink the potion as fast as you see an enemy.
5. Follow the road inside the tunnel until you get to the Dreadlord Lord Banehollow.
6. Get the new Quest from him where you should go back a bit, just a little bit back on the road inside the tunnel. Talk to the Orc you should kill and then kill him. I personally didn't use any special strategy, I just killed him.
7. Bring his Heart to Lord Banehollow.
8. Buy Stardust from Banehollow's servant that stands just next to him. This costs 150G.

PS. I don't really remember the name of the Dreadlord but I think it is Banehollow.

The end.

I just finished this quest using my voidwalker (lvl 61) and I have zero talent points in demons. It was very easy, not a prob or even a close death. Didn't use pots, didn't use healthstone or soulstone either. Anyway, thought I would put coords in for Ulathek, since I didn't see them here.

Ulathek coords: 41,48

He's not in the main cavern, but in the spiral with the small attached rooms on your map.

lol. I researched both here and alakazam before doing it...but hey

1) Pop potion at entrance to jaedaner
2) run through, follow all path to the back (you will pass ultha he is across a bridge, but to talk to the lord you need to go left down ramp and up to side, then across more bridges.
3) you must have potion on to talk to quest dude
4) kill ultha - send in void suffering, howl of terror, nuke ultha, loot, run back to quest dude still with ur potion working - your void will either despawn and shard refunded to u (after patch), or will follow you back - no need to kill adds
5) Talk to quest dude, buy 150g dust from minion
6) depop potion and kill dude for fun :P

This is a easy q for any lock. Just enter the cave (its the northern of the 2 there). Then run all the way in to the back of it. There u get a message to kill a guy for his heart. (this guy u will pass on your way into the back of the cave). For killing him, before you start speaking to him, put your VW on aggressive. Then speak to him, he will attck u, but VW gets aggro from all the mobs, When this happens dot up the guy u need to kill, then throe out Holw of Terror. At this phase he is at about 50% healt, use one shadow bolt = dead!Get his heart before the others get out of fear and start running back to deliver, dont care about any aggro, just run!
Did this q with no health stone, no health potions or no sacrifice of VW!Just easy, had 90% health at the lowest!
But remember to bring 150g, or its a waste of time!
Good Luck!

I did this in 15mins with 5mins left to run back to banehollow after i killed ula'thek. He is easy to kill, lvl 57, and so are his minions, which are 52, 53, 53. I used the void and sacrificed him for shield when the void was about to die. Kill ula'thek first then his minions. I didnt have to use SS at all though i had it on me. I got a little lost after speaking to banehollow as i didnt know where to find ula'thek. Turns out he's all the way back past shadow lord fel'dan, in a small little room off the FIRST bridge that u come to after backtracking past fel'dan. To kill ula'thek & his 3 minions, i used a healthstone, a mana pot and my void's sacrifice, I'm a destruction lock btw. gd luck to all attempting this quest!

I drank the shadow potion at the entrance to shadow hold and ran to the back.&nbsp Talked to the big demon then ran over to Uthek.

I was all prepped with soulstone and healthstone..these are not needed for an affliction lock anyway.&nbsp When he goes aggressive then have your VW do an AoE taunt to get everyone on him quick.&nbsp The imp stayed green at least so I didn't have to deal with him.

Then put all dots on Uthek and have your VW hit someone else taunting.&nbsp put your dots on him as well.&nbsp Then life tap twice and then drain life from Uthek till dead.&nbsp Then use health funnel to heal up your VW.&nbsp just keep switching targets and healing your VW.&nbsp I finished with half life 25% mana with my VW at 25% life and 200 mana or so.&nbsp I did use my death coil in there to speed up the process but I am sure that is not necessary.

Also I am not even that well equiped. Nearly all greens and no gear from Strat, scholo or DM.

Anyway.&nbsp Easy to solo.&nbsp Good luck everyone.&nbsp Now off to scholo.

Go as deep as you can int here hes a large demon with wings.

Bactrack to find the guy he wants you to kill.&nbsp Took the potion off, sent a felguard after him - relatively easy to kill.&nbsp I had him and an add down at about the same time.

Run to loot and then drink another pot to drop all aggo.

I was in and out with 1 potion, simple enough.

For some reason I didn't have a pet when I spoke to the 57... well 'Howl of Terror' is there for a reason.
While they were all running I dotted the 57 and 'Death Coiled' him for health, killing him very quickly.

Then I just ran out and the potion was not broken.

Too bad it cost 150gold, but I guess I had to spend it on something.

And doesn't anyone else find the tiny little golden question mark on top of the enormous Lord Banehollow funny?

Did this at level 60.&nbsp Once I found the traitor, here's how I handled it.

I walked all the way to the back of his cave and put my back against the wall.&nbsp I spoke to him to start the encounter, and sicced my Voidwalker on on of the two guards that I had passed as I entered.

Once the Voidwalker engaged, I fired Suffering (AoE taunt).&nbsp Then I dotted up the traitor and Shadowbolted him.&nbsp Once the Void's health hit 50%, I fired Howl of Terror.&nbsp This cleared the cave.&nbsp Another pair of Shadowbolts finished the traitor easily, and I had two of the three adds down before the Howl expired.

Didn't even have to pop a potion or a healthstone.

The traitor is rediculously easy for a lvl 60 demonology warlock, i did use my voidwalker, but i did also hav improved voidwalker with all of his abilities at their maximum level, all u gotta do is stand on the small bone pile next to the traitor and then begin the event, send ur void in against him and Suffering should hit everyone, just DO NOT HIT SUFFERING, let him use it himself, he will use it wen they begin hitting u, this will ensure the suffering hits everyone.. then just curse of agony, corruption, immolation, death coil and 1 shadow bolt. Boom. he's dead.

I've read all the tips here and went in alone January 20th 2006, prepared to use Sacrifice Voidwalker and/or ressurect by Soulstone.
However, the fight with Ulathek and his 3 (at least I think they were 3 :) adds went surpisingly well.

My warlock is a relatively new level 60 with no "uber" gear, so if I can do it, so can you! :-)

As already mentioned: concentrate on Ulathek first, then on the adds. Ulathek hits pretty hard, but died after only 2 or 3 shadow bolts and 1 drain soul. At this point my voidwalker had about half health bar left. I used howl on terror on the adds, and while they ran out of the room in panic, I healed the void and looted corpse of Ulathek for his heart. The guards didn't chain anything outside so they returned alone, and it was very easy from here, as they are relatively low level.

I used only 1 shadowy potion, and still had 6 minutes left on it when I used hearthstone after having bought the expensive dust.
Good luck!

By the time I found Lord Banehallow, the time on my potion was getting low, and by the the time I killed Ulethek, it was really low. The potion wore off just as I got back to Lord Banehollow, and he killed me. Unless you're broke, it's not a bad idea to have two of these things. It's a real pain to go all the way back to Burning Steppes to get another one if the first one wears off.

Did it as it is described here already, but only had to use 1 single potion. The traitor will attack you, after you speak with him, whether or not you drop the effect. Just kill him (with Drain Soul), kill his adds, all other mobs won't attack you! It was easy with VW. Then return to the Dreadlord, and go on with the quest. I got 7 min left of my first potion after buying the dust.
