The valves are at coordinates: 52x,11y in The Barrens. The respawn rate of the mobs near the valves I swear to god is less than 3 min so dont make the same mistake I did and start doin the valves after you do the control panel, or you will get respawned on and ass raped by a orc, 3 goblins, and a dwarf.... fun fun!

The controls are really as to find, just go from left to right, getting all three wheels.

As said before, always keep a look out on the respawns, there's a good 5-6 of them that are in aggro range around the controls, so be sure you're in the clear before you start doing the valves.

Quest is fun but if you want to do it at lvl 14 and you are not a hunter, then you could use 1 more to help you. Spawn as mentioned above is crazy.

Actually, two mobs will spawn in reaction to your using the last valve (regardless of what order you use them in). The normal mobs in the area are aggro-tied to the valves if they (the mobs) happen to wander too close while you are using them. This is the same behavior as mobs near a chest in the wild.

I had quite a hard time doing this because of the quick spawnrate. Also, you summon 2 15's when you shut one of the things off...

I think part of what makes it seem that the resets are so fast is that several of the shutdown steps spawn mobs; if you know they're coming, it makes it easier.

However, the quest chain stops early with because you can't get the Wenikee Boltbucket quest.

If alone be careful of when the MOBS are about to die. they run off and get someone and come back as two. If you are a Shaman use earthbind early and get ready to chase them down. If he does get away, heal yourself and wait where you are the MOB usually only gets one person to help.

Yeah, this quest is hard alone. The only way I got through it was by killing the mobs on 1 side of the machine at a time, running in, closing the valves, and running back out. These guys tend to run in fear at about 20% of thier life left, giving them more time to aggro more of them. It's best to have a good ranged weapon with you, or a good hunter or warlock would be even better.

I tried to solo this and had the same problem. I was able to kill all the guards around the machine on the same level, not the ones in the tents above. But when I was turning the 3rd valve, in any order, I was attacked right away, it starts to repop. I also saw no quest advancement. And each valve I turned it said 'opening' when you are supposed to close em.

Don't confuse the machine in the pit to the east with this one. Every valve you need to close is within 5 steps or so of the first control panel. Took me forever to figure that out.

Where are the valves? I can't find them anywhere.

Walk around the machine and you should see one valve on each side. Hit them all and then go back to the control console.

52,11. Before you do the valves you must access the control panel. It is hidden on the side facing away from the mountain. Ignore the control panel up the hill in the hut. Everything you need to get started is right there at the machine. This one is frustrating if you don't know where to look for things.

Location 52,11 in the far north of the Barrens.

The valves are in the same location as the control panel, they're just on the outside of varius parts of the machine.

Outside of the area with the control panel, there will be three valves to turn off. One is on the east side of the machine. One is on the north side of the machine, and the last is on the west side of the machine.

This is a difficult quest if you don't have some kind of CC. Mobs run away at 30% health, which is often too high to do get them down to zero before they pull 1-2 more mobs. Might want to enlist a friend from help unless you have some easy way to deal with adds, runners, and the quick respawn rate.
