Strange Alliance

Gain a Friendly reputation with the Gelkis, then speak with Uthek the Wise.
  •
Gelkis Clan Centaur (Friendly)

Description

We are fortunate the centaur clans fight among themselves, for if they joined into a single force then they would be unstoppable. Yes, we are fortunate, and we should press our advantage.

One of the centaur clans, the Gelkis clan, is in brutal war with the Magram clan. If we attack the Magram, then perhaps an alliance may be struck with the Gelkis.

Speak with Uthek the Wise, in the outskirts of the Gelkis camps in southwestern Desolace. Through her we might strike an alliance with the Gelkis.

Everyone starts with 2000/3000 neutral with both centaur clans.&nbsp Each kill is +20/-100 rep if they give exp and +4/-100 rep otherwise.&nbsp Bosses (there is only 1 of each clan) get you +25/-125 rep if they give exp and +5/-125 otherwise.
You become KoS with one clan after 20 kills, slightly faster if you kill the named.&nbsp To get friendly you would need 1000 rep which is also 20 exp kills but to get the 1000 rep from no exp kills takes 500!&nbsp IMHO you will be grinding rep for a lot of different factions in the end so there is no point burning out early by faction grinding near useless centaurs.

Gelkis Clan Area: Around (39,81) Area towards SW corner of map.
Magram Clan Area: Around (60,73) The lakes at the SE area of map.

I personally suggest becoming friendly with Gelkis, simply because you will be able to reach Ferelas easier with the path.

Gelkis Clan 37.87 (approx)
Magrams Clan 69.75 (approx)

Both Clans are neutral with you...(yellow)

Just don't accept "Brutal Politics" from Cpt. Pentigast.&nbsp Go kill the Magrams...it'll be around 50 deaths for them to become hostile towards u.&nbsp

Hotkey "K" select Reputation Tab...

Keep killing until the Gelkis becomes allies with you then you can talk to Ethek the Wise 36.79

The best thing to do with this quest is to pick one side/ one quest, and kill only one side to gain honor with one clan, once you gain enough honor, you will glow green, kind of like if you leveled, but green. then go turn in the quest.hope this helps.

you don't slay gelkis if you want to speak with Uthek, you slay the magram. Uthek is part of the gelkis clan, and you are trying to strike an alliance with them.

I personally advise killing the Undead Ravagers for the fame. The Gelkis game goes up at the same rate, but the Magram fame decreases slower. It is quite possible to unlock Gelkis quests if you do all Undead Ravagers and few Centaurs. I have Gelkis as Friendly and I still have about 1/8th of a bar before Magram will aggro me. I've only killed 2, maybe 3 Magram however.

If u do the: Gelkis friendly quest, there's a genius place for mages^^ Helped a friend with this quest(he's a mage) and we discovered the place. Close to Warug, all bodyguards stands(there's 2 of them) and one other Magram. When u kill the bodyguards, they respawn after like 2 seconds or something. So, what we did was that he ran in killed the bodyguards, and all thoose that spawned, I healed him so there was no problem with health. We killed like 15 bodyguards in 2 min. The bodyguards have the same reputation bonus, so there's no problem with that. Suggest that all mages do the Gelkis side of this quest!=D

It might technically be possible to do both this quest and Brutal Politics...

Both quests are chains ending at about lvl 42, and you must retain your reputation with your chosen clan to complete them. F.or each kill you gain 20 rep with the opposing clan and lose 100 rep with the clan you killed. So to complete one quest and then try to reverse your reputation with the other clan to complete the other quest would not only take more kills than the first but would also be a waste of time since you would already have exceeded the level of the quest. After reviewing each chain of quests to the end, I have chosen this quest for several reasons.

1. the Gelkis are enroute to Feralas, and the Magram are easily avoidable. I didn't want to compromise future travel

2. you can collect Centaur ears from the Magrams to complete the quest Centuar Bounty

3. this quest will not cost me money or have any hard to obtain items as certain aspects of Brutal Politics does

4. Although the end reward for this quest is not usuable for my character it will fetch more cash (almost twice as much) in the end & I already have better equipment than the reward for the other quest.

So I suggest reading through the forums for the quests yourself and then decide which one you might want to do.

p.s. I read somewhere on one of these quests that you can open your Reputation Menu (K) and uncheck "at war" with your unfriendly clan and they won't attack you. I haven't tried this yet, but it's worth a shot.

and Uthek the Wise is at 36,79

You get the quest and head directly south on the road to Magram Village 70,70.

You have to start killing Magrams to gain trust with the Gelkis.

3000-2000(where you start)/20 per kill is 50 Magrams must die to win.

I assumed that horde could do this chain since the next two parts apply to BOTH, i also see that someone further down the page put that horde is able to do it as well. Im assuming here was a different starting point for the Horde. Im standing at the captian right now just to see and he Definately is hostile to me and no way for me to talk to him. Sooo... anyone know where the starting point for the horde is or what i might need to do to get this quest?

20 min later...Ok nvm, I found it. Def a differnt starting spot for horde.

If you kill Warug's bodyguards (2 beside him, he doesn't aggro) at 75, 68 you can get speedy rep since the guards respawn extremely fast(though only 1/4 the rep). Just make sure you pull them a bit away from the origional spawn point since they aggro when they flee and the constant fighting can wear you thin.

finished this quest, got like at least 14K xp for all the grinding of the first 1K rep (was rested for a while) got 2050 xp for handing in, and -250 rep for magram, +250 for gelkis at level 36. Leads to a new quest where you have to pillage and rape the kolkar which are straight east of nijels point (that's where i got centaur ears, but i guess it would have been smarter to do this quest and the ears one at the same time)
