Fragments of the Orb of Orahil

Speak to Menara's acolytes inside the tower above Ratchet and choose one of their paths to follow.

Afterwards, bring an Infernal Orb to Tabetha in Dustwallow Marsh.
Infernal Orb

Description

Good, then we shall begin.

The first thing you must do is speak to my acolytes inside. Choose one of their paths to follow--they will explain more.

Second, you must travel to Desolace and find an Infernal Orb from one of the warlocks of Mannoroc Coven. It is that orb that you will cleanse with the help of a mage named Tabetha deep in southern Dustwallow Marsh. She will aid you because of our history together.

Again, do not come back until you have done both things I've asked.

Do not be mislead by this quest, and read it carefully. It is stated that you need an Infernal Orb, but you don't get the orb from and Infernal you get it from the warlocks, Burning Blade Summoner's (https://classicdb.ch/?npc=4668). The drop rate is about 55%, I got it on my second kill because I am an unlucky person. Also, after you get this quest, she tells you to talk to her Acolytes behind her. They give you two options either "Shard of a Felhound" (https://classicdb.ch/?quest=4962) or "Shard of an Infernal" (https://classicdb.ch/?quest=4963).

If you go the route of the Felhound you get to choose from a Shadow damage staff, or a Shadow damage Orb. Otherwise, the route of the Infernal gives you a Fire damage Staff, or a Fire damage Orb.

But first, you need to cleanse the orb, and you don't want to turn anything in before hand because you will fail the quest forever (unless they fixed that finally). To do that you have to head to Dustwallow Marsh to find Tabetha (https://classicdb.ch/?npc=6546), ** Remember her location, she is used for future quests**. Tabetha will have you fight a level 40 Elite Felguard, which is possible at level 36 if you constantly fear it while putting Damage over Time spells on him, and have your Void Walker out.

The potential rewards of the end of this quest line are:

For Infernal, Staff of Noh'Orahil or Orb of Noh'Orahil.

For the Felhound, Staff of Dar'Orahil or Orb of Dar'Orahil.

FFS, why do people not realise that +dmg is so vitally important for warlocks?&nbsp Warlocks do not need the mana and health pool that mages and priests need (dont get me wrong, its hugely important, but for those of us affliction specced we get an instant full mana regen, and for those that dont there is still good old life tap.&nbsp on top of that, our shadow bolt takes a while to churn through all your mana in the first place).

the staves from this quest are far better than illusionary rod for us, because it adds dmg to our dots and spells.&nbsp If you are worried about the loss of int, but a +int enchant.&nbsp If you have spell power increase buffs, things die faster.&nbsp that means levelling faster, and less spells cast (therefore the int is less important.... takes less casting to kill things so you dont need the int as much) so you save time all round.&nbsp Plus for those who dont like travelling, we have to go to these places eventually anyway, may as well make it now while they are exciting for your level.

If you can get a staff of jordan dont bother with this quest its not worth it.&nbsp for those without the money to buy an epic, do bother, because you will use this until you get soul harvester at lvl 50.

Tracking-
1. Mannoroc Coven - Desolace [50.12, 75.84] / [50, 75]
2. Tabetha - Dustwallow Marsh [46.06, 57.09] / [46, 57]

You will need to choose between Infernal and Felhound, this will determine your reward. Infernal is +Fire Dmg and Hound is +Shadow Dmg.

Once you have decided, head to Mannoroc Coven (1.) and slay Burning Blade Summoners for the Infernal orb. Once done find either the Mana Eater or Infernal and use the item to Capture the soul just like Soulshards. Now head to Dustwollow Marsh (2.) and Speak with Tabetha. You will now have a TIMED quest to cleanse the stone eby killing the demon residing inside. It is Lv40 Elite but very low Def and Resistance. Upon killing the demon speak with her again, timed remember. The next portion is too return the cleansed orb too Menera Voidrenderer in Ratchet (Still north of the Flight Master).

&nbsp First off... there's NO way to "break" this quest line (aside from accidentally destroying the ruby/emerald once it's infused). Period!
&nbsp I only read the quest from Menara ONCE when I first accepted it.&nbsp So, by the time I obtained the infused ruby thingy and the infernal orb, I had forgotten the part about Tabetha cleansing the orb and Menara's "warning" not to return until I completed BOTH tasks.&nbsp So, after obtaining the felhound soul shard and the infernal orb, I returned to Ratchet and gave Menara the ruby and the felhound soul shard BEFORE taking the infernal orb to Tabetha to be cleansed.&nbsp I did not read everything she had to say before I clicked 'complete'.&nbsp I only caught something like "...and not before then" before I realised I hadn't recieved a reward (orb or staff).&nbsp So I freaked out and came here to see what went wrong.&nbsp That's when I read all the posts about losing the quest(s), not being able to get them back and not being able to get the orb/staff reward.&nbsp I was PISSED!&nbsp Actually lost some sleep over it (yes, I know - pathetic).&nbsp Well, went to Tabetha and cleansed the orb today.&nbsp Returned to Menara, turned in the cleansed orb and got the staff - WOOT!&nbsp Moral of the story?&nbsp It doesn't matter if you turn in the felhound/infernal soul shard BEFORE or AFTER you have the infernal orb cleansed!&nbsp End of story.

well, first you choose the q then get ready to a trip to Desolace:)
Go to Mannoroc Coven and the thing you need to kill is the Summoner, you ll recognize him by his Imp) they drop the Infernal Orb:)

then travel to Dustwallow Marsh and in the center of it is a place called Quagmire, there right in the middle is a small house you have Tabeth waiting you right there) BUT! beafore you take the q from her make sure the spider around the garden is dead cuz she summons the demon lvl 40 elite and you need all clear for that!

Once you took the q run into the garden and wait her to summon the deamon..really easy, just fight and when you re close to die Fear the deamon and heal yourself.Get something for mana and use shadow bolt cuz makes the most damage.

Did it with my lvl 38 with no problems at all)

Has no affect on your character whatsoever.&nbsp It determines the reward, and that is it.

Don't spend too much time worrying about this quest, the reward is *!@# if you've got illusionary staff anyways.

You don't get to summon an infernal and you don't get any kind of bonuses for whichever path you take.&nbsp Just pick one and move on...

I've made two warlocks and chosen both paths...&nbsp While I can't remember the first quest all too well, it seems almost like the same quest to me.

Hey, atm I dont have co-ords because of updates etc. but I do have a description kinda...
  • Go to 'Dustwallow Marsh' map.
  • Look near the centre of the map and find where it says 'Stonemaul Ruins'.
  • North of here, there is what sort of looks like an 'elf boot'(lol)... but its kinda rotated left.
  • Where the laces of the 'elf boot' would be, sits Tabetha's hut.
Sorry for the lame description guys ) but hope it sort of helps... Happy questing and good luck :) :) :)

Stupid me - I handed in the infused emerald before purifying it (I just didn't get what she was saying) - and lost the quest.&nbsp That is, I went to desolace, found an infernal, clicked the emerald and infused it - then I went to Ratchet and turned it in before going to Desolace to purify.&nbsp I was thinking the other quest was yet another quest - and that the purification was for something else.&nbsp I was just all confused. =)

Anyway, just posting this here so someone else doesn't repeat my mistake.

Also, both horde & alliance (mages and locks, I guess) need to see Tabetha at some point, why you risk running into players from the faction opposing yours.

At level 36, I got ganked several times by other players (usually more than one). The Felguard itself, wasn't that hard to beat, with the Fear-Damage over time-Voidwalker combo mentioned above.

This quest is not broken.&nbsp You have to kill the demon AND go back to tabetha and complete the quest before the timer runs out.

If you kill the demon, let the timer expire and then go to tabetha you wont be able to complete the quest.&nbsp In this case just abandon the quest and kill the demon again.&nbsp Remember to run back to tabetha after killing the demon and turn in the quest BEFORE the timer runs out.

Incidentally, I found her at 45, 57.&nbsp It's a house, you can't miss it.&nbsp When you initially talk to her she will walk outside and summon the demon in the field to the left of the house (if you are facing the front of the house).

This quest should NOT be a lvl 40 quest... i soloed it easy with my lvl 36. I just killed 1 of the "burning blade summoners" around 49,74 (lvl 37). Then used the Felhas Ruby on a "mana eater (lvl 37)" (also found around 49,74) when he was low on hp and got the imprisoned felhound spirit for the "shard of a felhound" quest. then i was done and returned to menara in ratchet..

NB! If u deliver the "shard of a felhound" quest first u wont get the prize.

I got 13,300 xp from this qwest not counting kills.

The way I did this. I got both qwests. Killed the lock got drop first kill. Killed Felhunter and got his soul or what ever it is. Do not go back to Mehnra or whatever name is. Go to Dustwallow Marsh to Tabetha. 3150xp (Since qwest seems to be really buggy I had a lvl 55 and lvl 56 with me) Kill summon, hurry to turn in to Tabetha. 2350 Go back to Ratchet to Mehnra and turn in ORB first (1550xp)THEN she will ask for the soul of Felhunter. 2350xp. Then get created Staff or Orb and 3900xp. This is the way it worked for me. Good luck

1. Go to Desolace-Kill the Mana Eater (looks like a felhunter) and capture the soul.
2. Kill a summoner walking around with an IMP-They are not called WARLOCKS. I just completed this quest very easy-Level 38-

**Now you can do 2 things here:
1. Go back to Ratchet and turn in the felhunter soul but I dont suggest that yet.
2. Go to Desolace and then talk to Tabetha (think that is her name). Kill the level 40 Elite Giant-Don't attempt any lower than 38. This quest was fairly simple once I read the quest and figured out what was acutally needed. Not sure what all of the issues are about. In game name is CottenCamel if you need asst.

Rating: +2 [-] [+]
By Linaeri on 01/04/2008 (Patch 2.3.0)
If you make the mistake in picking the wrong acolyte to speak to and have already captured the infernal spirit and taken it to Menara Voidrender, there is no turning back even if you drop this quest and you'll have to go out and get another orb to take to Tabetha. Be very careful which one you choose as the quest descriptions from the acolytes are misleading and could have you thinking you're getting something much more beneficial for an affliction warlock if you follow the infernal path.

Unfortunately for me I made that mistake before I checked here to find out what the reward would be thinking I was going to get an infernal minon and some kind of trinket or ability to restore health over time.

I think this quest is way over-hyped for difficulty. This is my first character (level 38 Undead Warlock) and I solo everything and so don't consider myself very knowledgeable on strategy etc as I never talk to anyone about what to do, but do read these boards. The one thing I did do to prepare myself for this quest was to make sure my build was optimized for my level. I had a ton of gold because up to now I have been using quest rewards and looted armor to equip myself. I checked the auction house and maxed out on armor and related strengths for my level. Obtaining the Orb was almost too easy. Spotted a Burning Blade Summoner walking around at the far southern end of Monroc on the Western side of the road on the ruins and used the rocks just to the south to get close. As I approached, expecting to have to kill other stuff to get to him, he came my way and I hit him with my VW, DOTs, Immolate and a couple of shadow bolts. He virtually melted--very easy. Same with Shard of an infernal. The lesser infernals go down easy. I had to kill two because the first one actually died before I could nail him with the shard.

The Tabetha portion was mostly about getting there. Worst part was getting hit my two crocks at once crossing swamp to her house. I expected more difficulty in the fight. When she began summoning the Monster summoned by the orb. He focused entirely on my VW and left me alone. I hit him with DOTs (COA and Corruption) and nailed him with immolate, kept the DOTs running and actually stood back and watched for a few secs while my manna rebuilt. He kept at my VW the whole time and when the VW was almost dead, I shielded immolated and shadow bolted. He died while I still had a fair amount of health and manna. I think if you are prepared this guy should go down just as easy for you.

You have to get

1. One orb from a warlock

AND

2. The infernal/felhunter soul.

Two things. The quest really doesn't give you good information. It reads like you just need one thing and that tabitha combines it or whatnot.

Horrid waste of time if you go there and don't have the right item :)

fragments of the orahil orb + the sub-quest: Shard of a Felhound (Walkthrough)

1. go to desolace (52,68 Mannoroc Cavern), attack 1 of 2 mana eaters (they look like felhunters), and use the ruby shard on it, just as you would use "Drain Soul".

*As someone else posted, it might be a good idea to hotkey the ruby shard.

2. Continue down the road to the main part of Mennoroc Cavern (51, 71). The
Burning Blade Summoner you need to kill for the infernal Orb is in one of the 3 ruined buildings on the north side of the road.

*You don't get anything special from her imp, so kill her as quickly as possible, sacrifice ur demon, loot the corpse, and run.

3. Fly to Theramore to visit
Tabetha. She's in The Quagmire section of Dustwallow Marsh (46,57), in a hut. It's 12 minute run from the city to Tabetha without a mount.

*If ur under 40 stay on the road as long as possible. You may want to kill creatures near the yard of the hut before talking with Tabitha.

4. Once ur ready to fight, give her the orb, follow her, and she will summon a demon in her yard.

5. Kill the Demon of the Orb. It is a level 40 Elite.

6. Go back in the hut and get the Cleansed Orb from Tabetha.

7. Get back to Menara in Ratchet. Return the Cleansed Orb, then return the ruby and imprisoned shard completing those 2 quests. Accept the "Completed Orb of Dar'Orahil", when she's finished, complete that quest.

You get experiance for these 3 quests, and select either an off hand orb weapon or the Staff of Dar'Orahil.

---------------------------------------------------
desolace:
lesser infernal lvl 36
nether maiden lvl 38
doomwarden lvl 37
burning blade summoner lvl 38

dustwallow marsh:
bunch of lvl 38-39 creatures, mostly crockolisk things
the feldemon is lvl 40 elite
---------------------------------------------------

***I think it's best to do the Felhound quest for the shadowmagic aspect, especially if you intend on using the Shadoweave gear around lvl 40.

Just did this at lvl 36.
Took boat from BB to Rachet, then i walked to Theramore Isle. From there a gryphon ride to Desolace.

Now i think i could have done this at lvl 34.
This was some of the easyest quest i've ever done.
I got alittle supprised when i didnt even need to use any heal's what so ever.

I did the Infernal Spirit, tryed to get some more but it was uniqe so no way.

Then the Warlock, i sendt my VW on the warlock and then i used banish on his pet. And then used course of agony, immoliate and corruption. Then it was all about the Shadowbolt around 15 sec, then another immoliate and some more shadowbolt. then 1 shadowbolt on his pet, and then i started to use health funel on my VW.

Well then that was done, gryphon back to Theramore Isle, and walk alittle to get the "orb" cleaned. Killed the lvl 40.
And a nice little strall out of the woods and into ratchet.

Peace of Cake :)
