Ok this is the quest in plain english, i can't understand why people are having such an issue with it. This is how i did it, with out failing.

Step1: Get initial quest of lock trainer in SW, who sends you to Menara in Ratchet.

Step2: Get the quest of Menara, then the second quest of one of her acolytes.

Step3. Go to Desolace, Kill an infernal, and just before it dies, use the Emerald given to you to capture it's soul. (Like using DrainSoul).

Step4. Go and kill a Summoner at the Coven.

Step5. Go to Dustwallow Marsh and find Tabatha, in a house, in The Quagmire.

Step6: Get a level 60 to meet you at Tabatha.

Step7: Accept final part of Quest of Tabatha.

Step8: Follow Tabatha to garden at side of house, where she summons demon.

Step9: Send in Voidwalker, DoT demon, and shadowbolt it, while Level 60 does the rest.

Step10: With 2 mins to spare, go back in house and speak with Tabatha.

Step11: Go back to Manara in Ratchet and Quest is complete.

I felt the need to write this as some people seem to find it hard/confusing. This should clear that up :)

Also as someone else mentioned choose if you want fire or shadow as your path.

As for the items, you truly can get better drops easily, but I did the quest for experience and to break the monotony of mindless grinding.&nbsp I chose the offhand +shadow orb because I really didn't have any use for the staff, and an extra offhand with healing seemed somewhat useful.&nbsp However, be advised that the orb healing use shares cooldown with your healthstone, and you cannot use both to heal.&nbsp Wish I had known, because at my lvl (36) the healthstone heals 500 instantly and the orb's HoT is only 400 overall, so really isn't much use at all.&nbsp If it had a separate cooldown, it could be enough to save you on the longer fights, but as such is very nearly useless.

Did this at lvl38 with my Imp.

Killed the lvl 40 elite demon easily, while managing a lvl 37 raptor that got agro from my Imp near the end of the fight. Killed both while managing to have enough time to talk to the quest giver.

Here's the trick. This guy will probably never resist fear. Just dot him, fear, shadowbolt / re-immolate, repeat. Manage adds as necessary, banish if need be.

Bingo. Free exp.

you all seem to have probs with having went and talked to menara without having done the full quest. In that case, combine it with the Components for the Enchanted Gold Bloodrobe, and you can talk to her as much as you want she will assume you wanna talk about the goldrobe, and not get pissed cuz you back without doing what she wanted. good luck!

I killed the Demon at the time given, and returned the orb to Menara Voidrender. all i got from this is exp., so where is the reward?

i have cleansed the orb and dont even&nbsp get the option to choose between the staff or orb. the acolytes just say the same thing they said before i cleansed the orb. they only talk about the different paths like before and menera voidrender says that i need to go talk to the acolytes? I think this part is bugged like everyone else is saying.

You must return to the acyolyte before returning to manera voidrender. Otherwise you will only get gold and exp, but if you return to the acylyte that you accpeted the quest from, you will get the fire/shadow item when you go back to menara depending on which path you chose. If you chose to kill the infernal, you will get the fire one. If you chose to kill the Felhound, you will get the Shadow Item.

Not sure which acolyte offers which quest, will post again when i know

I went the felhound path for the + Shadow Damage and I have to admit that the orb is pretty neat but why is the cooldown so dang long. 30 mins...

What's your guys opinion about this?
Am I the only warlock that thinks this cooldown a little to long? lol

just took the orb yesterday and it already saved my life with the 40 hp per 3 secs use. I was jumped by a pally when i was less than half on hp/mana. few siphons i had on him and a mob plus that.. a life tap or 2 and i was as good as new.
there are probably better items out there but at lvl 36 with te hypnotic blade from SM i dont feel i got the short end of the stick

it seems that the fire choice is kinda pointless, seeing how you can create a firestone that adds a random damage amount and matches the fire damage increase at the time of receiving this quest, if not soon after.

I defeated the summon from tabatha....then i didnt talk to her:( I then went to rachet and got the orb.By not talking to Tabatha did i miss being able to summon felhound?

I Think the problem with this quest is when you go to Menara without first completeing the quest to the acolytes.&nbsp She takes the gem and fellhunter soul shard,&nbsp then tells me that I have to talk to them first.&nbsp I talked with 2 GM in-game and the second one told me I will have to redo quest once they reset me.&nbsp Still waiting.&nbsp Hard to solo the demon but I finally got him&nbsp VW, Dots Sacrifice, Fear,&nbsp imp, Dots, run around house etc....

Anyone have a better result.&nbsp I have the cleansed orb in my pack but no one to give it to.

I read on another site that if you cannot complete this quest you should go back to Tabetha in the swamp.&nbsp I did this and she re-gave me this quest,&nbsp once I went back to Menara everything was ok,&nbsp and I got my Orb of Orahil.

Just got th Hypnotic Blade from SM,&nbsp Great combo IMHO.

Hope this helps somebody else, this bug drove me nuts till I figured it out

I chose the spirit of a felhound and was able to capture it and return it to Menara. No matter which you choose, you will be offered a staff or an off-hand orb that enhance a certain type of damage and have some good stats to accompany them. If you chose the infernal, the powers of you orb/staff will have to do with fire damage. If you chose the felhound, as I did, you will get one of those items only they enhance shadow damage. I wish it would have been more specific at the start.

You should be able to choose either the felhound or infernal quest and once you are done with that AND the cleansed orb quest, she will make you an item.

OK, here's what happened to me and how I fixed it. I returned to Menara with the orb, the quest completed and was removed from my quest log. She then told me to talk to one of the acolytes (which I'd already done at the start of the quest). Neither would offer me a quest, just a description of an infernal and a felhound and "goodbye". I petitioned a GM who insisted the quest was working correctly and "I needed to do something else with the orb".

I didn't want to destroy the orb, so I Hearthstone'd back to SW and put it in the bank. Then flew/boat back to Menara but still no joy. So I flew to Darnassus and collected the orb from the bank again, then flew to Theramore and found Tabetha in Dustwallow Marsh again. She had a quest icon above her head, so I went and got the same "Returning the Cleansed Orb" quest.

Then back to Menara again, same old message to talk to the acolytes. But this time there was a "complete quest" button which resulted in my getting the Orb of Dar'Orahil.

I don't think you need to mess around with the bank, but if you can't get this quest to complete properly I'd advise going and having another chat with Tabetha.

Hi,

I returned the Cleansed Orb to Menara and got my reward. After that she told me to talk to her acolytes in the tower about felhound/infernal quest. The acolytes (two) gives me descriptions of the felhound and the infernal respectively, but don't hand out quests. When I speak to Menara again, she only refers me back to the acolytes. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I'm lvl 40.
