The Test of Righteousness

Wait for Jordan Stilwell to finish forging a weapon for you.

Description

Why don't we go over to the forge and get started on this? I've been preparing for your arrival for some time, so it shouldn't take long at all.

When we're done, you'll be far more prepared to defend the Light than you have been, this much I swear.

I'll be somewhat honest, <name>, seeing the results of your exploits makes me somewhat envious. But knowing that I can contribute to your adventures in my own significant way does bring me some joy.

First you do Test of Valor and get a nice shield. You go to the cathedral in SW to get this quest at 20. You have to go to a cottage on a cliff overlooking the sea in the faaar southwest corner of westfall.

Three waves of lvl 17 to 18 defias attack and try to kill a lady there. This might be soloable at 20 if you have a couple of healing potions and a good weapon like Orc Crusher (from tharil'zun in redridge). Having the seal of command talent doesn't hurt, either. To be safe talk a couple of players into helping you. It's near the entrance to Deadmines - and you can eventually get a couple of people waiting to get a group there to help you (it takes five minutes tops).

Go back to stormwind cath and get the next quest - which is for the killer hammer Verigan's Fist. From cathedral go to IF (outside) and talk to Jordan. U need to get him 4 things. For two of these things u must talk to someone else - important middle steps - don't skip them.

Easiest to nail is the elite ogre item in Loch Modan. It's in the NE corner of the zone in the Mo Gosh stronghold - a box just sitting theren on the ground. At 20 w/ a good weapon like Orc Crusher you can solo these Elite Ogres - but there are almost always people hunting here. The box you need to loot is in the middle of this valley on the ground - not in a cave. BUT you must FIRST talk to a guy in Thelsemar to be able to loot htis box! He's in the building across from the INN w/ the tailor merchant out front.

Next is the Kor gem. Get to Auberdine and talk to the Elf in the Northmost building w/ a ! on his head. He'll give u the quest. Then get down to BFD (blackfathom depths) in next zone to the south (take the dotted-line path west off main road - hit M to get map and you will see what I mean - while in an area of the zone called maestra's outpost).

You might be able to solo this. The elite naga casters in the walkup to the instance drop this gem - first one did for me. There are stealthed rogue satyrs there - if you can get help it'll go easier - but there often isn't help here. If you can find a single spawn spot of a naga caster and just camp it til it drops - that might be a good solo option. They are lvl 19 at most as I recall.

Go back to Auberdine and the NE blesses the gem.

Now you don't have to talk to any more NPCs.

The Defias part (the white oak) is about halfway in the deadmines instance. You may want to save doing the VanCleef quest til now - get a normal deadmines group - and get the wood as you do this instance. Otherwise try to get some people to help you here. This would be very hard to solo in early 20s. You have to kill the ogre, and while he can be pulled solo he'd be very hard to solo - plus you have the patrol coming up behind you faster than you can kill the other rogues at the door - try to get help. The woodworking goblins a bit after the ogre drop this wood. Again you don't need to talk to another NPC to do this part.

Shadowfang. I went to menethil and swam north to southshore - and got a flight link. Took the road west to silverpine - followed road signs ... and found no one but horde at Shadowfang Keep. No guildees could help. Looked too hard to solo.

Hmm... there is always pvp at southshore, I thought. So I went back to hillsbrad zone and did "/1 could someone who knows shadowfang pls help me with the Verigan's quest part there? It should go really fast" - right away a lvl 31 druid said "I also play a pallie - sure I'll help."

I thought this would be so hard - but w/ him it was easy. He knew right where to go (took ten minutes). You enter, go right, fight your way to jail cells - and follow the guy you free to a door. He unlocks it. There go up the left wall to the stables (fighting were wolves and ghosts). The smithhing hammer is there on a box - u just right click and loot it.

Then hearthstone out, go back to IF, and watch Jordan make your Verigan's Fist!

Coupled w/ Seal of Command (talent) which you can also get at 20 - this is just killer. Beyond killer. It's amazaing and tons of fun!

I'm now doing the Holy talents for uninterruptable heals. When I get that (popping in concentra aura as needed), I expect to be unstoppable! Hehe. Well, not that good - but very, very strong! Hope this helps - GL all!

I'm a 25 Ret Pally (I was a twink at 19 so not everything will be just as easy for you), and i'm flying to IF to turn the quest in as I write this.&nbsp This is how you get each piece:

The first section, where you have to defend Daphne Stilwell from the Defias is not too hard, and not too easy.&nbsp It's really yourself that you have to look out, since she has a very good amount of hp, and regains it after each 'wave'.

For the Whitestone Oak Lumber in Deadmines, I can solo until the ogre, but since you need ranged to pull him, I suggest a group.&nbsp You just have to get to the goblins, and they should drop it the very first kill.

For the Jordan's Refined Ore Shipment, you have to go to Loch Modan, in Thelsamar, into the house with the Tailoring Supplies guy on the porch.&nbsp Talk to Bailor Stonehand, and take his quest.&nbsp Then go Northeast across the lake until you start seeing the ogre encampment.&nbsp Go in, and keep going until you reach a tree with the item you need under it.&nbsp Grab it and finish the quest for the shipment.

For the Smithing Hammer, Get to Southshore (Run there if you do not have the flightpaths), and then run east along the road until you reach Silverpine Forest.&nbsp Follow the road up the hill and into SFK.&nbsp You may need a group for this, but since you're a pally, you might have Turn Undead.&nbsp
See if you can sneak upstairs and past as many pats and mobs as possible.&nbsp You will arrive into a courtyard.&nbsp Jump out and run to the stables to get the Hammer (On a log inside).

For the Kor Gem, you have to go to Auberdine, in Darkshore.&nbsp Take the boat in the Wetlands, and talk to Thundris Windweaver.&nbsp He'll give you a quest.&nbsp Run south until you reach Ashenvale, and then run west when you reach a path.&nbsp Keep running northwest from there until you reach the Instance, and swim under the little barrier.&nbsp Pop up in the otherside, and kill the Naga in there one by one until it drops.&nbsp Return to Thundris, and then Return to IF to complete the quest.

u guys, this maces is hella good, so what for sword and shield apaladins, u want to train in maces anyway, there alot better then swords at higher levels
this quest is 100% worth it for the mace, 25DPS is ownage at level 22

By Anonymous on 12/22/2005 (Patch 1.8.4)
well there seems to be a little bit of confusion and i cbf reading all the posts above so heres wat i did
first of all....you must have completed the previous quests ie. the one where you have to protect that chick in westfall froim the waves of defias
then you get this quest
i did this at lvl 22 or something with another paladin
so first:
loch modan...if you haven't been there then your silly but yes its in mo'grosh stronghold IT IS NOT A DROP so killing everything will get you nothing but xp and prove the soloing ownage of the paladin but thats a different story
it is a CRATE near a tree in the middle area of the compound (i think can't recall precisely) so just mouse over anything, it is a brown box so just search around and you'll find it, this is probably the bit people have most trouble with so dont stress, maybe do the chok sul and mercenaries quests from town while you're at it

then off we go to deadmines
groups are easy as hell to get so yeah just get one and either go for the whole thing if you need items or drop out after the goblins, it dropped first goblin for me so yeah not hard to get at all

then shadowfang keep
this is the biggest *!@#$ to get to coz you'll most likely have to run all the way from loch modan or menethil harbour(this is when num lock for auto run is useful)
anyway run along and either have another paladin like me or if you're extra lucky find a hunter friend lvl 40 or above who can aspect of the pack and protect you to get there a helluva lot easier :)and faster
or you can get a shadowfang group obviously and its impossible to go wrong to get there although i've been there once and it was very confusing after the courtyard with the hammer
so yeah get ur way to shadowfang (in tirisfal glades for all you who dont know) and go foward, rescue some mage guy and into the courtyard where excorcism comes in handy :)
and its in the stables
if you have a high lvl friend or a group kill the horses to get a 10 slot bag but dont otherwise
on a crate, theres a screenshot of where it is somewhere around so yeah easy as pie

blackfathom deeps or w/e
easy to get to..menethil: should have been there by now so take the boat (right pier) and then to auberdine
then get down into ashenvale (south) and after you enter make a right or west (coz ur coming from the north) when u can and u will find a path like thing
its easy enough to get to, just ask some of the locals if you're having difficulty
and from recollection there is a quest in auberdine which gets you some nice mail bracers which is very easy to do so thats a good pickup
so yeah just kill some things in outside the instance and it should drop
and before you head off make sure you get the quest from the guy in the house just left of the inn where the pier goes into so you can get the gem lol and return it once found to get it enchanted
then back to ironforge with an excited expression and get your very brand new nice ownage weapon and then get it replaced in gnomer :)
best weapon in the game considering its level, nothing at that stage can beat it i dont think
so yeah thats about it
if you wanna start a paladin go on stormreaver and whisper Arantalin (thats me) of Sorrow (great tabard) and ill come and help you grow into a nice big paladin who kills lots of smelly horde
happy hunting
pallies ftw!

I just want to reiterate that you need to talk to Thundris Windweaver in Auberdine before going to Blackfathom Deeps...and don't forget to talk to the dwarf in Thelsamar (can't remember his name) before going to the ogre camp in Loch Modan

I'm a decent WoW player and based on my 24 pally's experience so far, here's my two cps:

- Mo'grosh ogres are easy. You can probably solo this or if you can't, getting a group on the spot should be a snap. Level 22 will have no problems here.

- Deadmines: There are always groups forming in Westfall for deadmines runs. Just tag along with one till you get to the goblins. I doubt that it's worth the extra trouble of going solo, so again a 22 shouldn't have any problems.

- BFD: Dropped off the first naga, which was an easy kill. 22+ will have no problems here. Group isn't really necessary since the naga are in teh uninstanced part and they're spread out.

- Shadowfang: This is really not soloable. The double pulls are doable, but there's a triple pull before the courtyard that even potions couldn't get me out of. Had to wear them down then walk back from SS after I died. The courtyard was just insane... you will need a buddy (perferably two). The hammer is in the stable building directly in front of you when you enter the courtyard.

Ok, i will make it so that everyone can easily get all the items. I even took some screenshots.

Deadmines - On a Golblin Woodcaver, easy to get, I got it 1st drop.

Shadowfang Keep - here is a pic:

Ore- Is at the base of a tree in the ogre area, its in a crate. Just move your cursor over crates around trees until you get teh gear symbol.

I soloed it at 26 with ease.&nbsp Really, I found this too easy at 26. The creatures were mostly gray to me, and it was infrequent that I got any experience from kills.&nbsp

I suspect it could be soloed at 21-22 with patience, but it would be tough.

Don't listen to the guy who said there are 15 creatures in the courtyard though.&nbsp The aggro is very low in these areas - you have to get quite close to get them interested, and there are very few wanderers.&nbsp Throughout all the elite dungeons I was fighting at most 2 elites at all times, being careful to time my attacks and draw only a few creatures.&nbsp If you're fighting more, you need to work on your strategy.

I waited too long to do this quest, at 26.&nbsp The mace is nice, but comparable to fairly standard level 30 2-handers.&nbsp But at 21, this would be well worth getting a buddy to help you get through it.

The whole point of this quest is that palladins need to help people and not just play for their own good. That is why all parts of this quest are designed as side quests fro group experiences. So, do not spoil the point and get a good group for every part - it is much more fun this way.
And do not be the jackass that abandons the party right after the hammer or wood is found - go to the end. Have fun, relax. That is the whole god damn point!

And the hammer is made in a way that is great for all pallies except deepest protectionists. For healers it has some intellect and very nice load of spirit. For ret pallies it has great DPS. And a bit of stamina too to make even some protection pallies consider still using it. Slap a +5 damage on it and you are a beast!

this quest is imo very very easy for that "good" of a mace and it isnt too bad in itself. i have soloed everything but The Deadmines part only because my friends needed me to tank it and while i was in there picked up some lumber. the kor gem and the ore are very easy and i am working on SFK as i type actually with my mage friend. very easy considering he has sheep. i am currently 21 wich will probably change at the end of the run and most definitely change when i hand in the quest

all know that you cant have a shield and a 2h at the same time, but why just not do as me? use the 2h all the time, exept for when tanking, then i pull up the shield and a cruel barb and laugh at the roge that dont have it, there is a big chance of getting a nice 1h in the same deadmines-run

Maybe sum1 knows the answer to this. I've done this quest and got the hammer and went on my merry way. Decided to clean out my quest log this week and came across Bailor's Ore Shipment quest again. Finished the qest and got Jordans Refine Ore Shipment. But I dont have a quest to take the ore to Jordan. I went to Jordan just to see if he would talk and he wouldnt. Any clue, is it just a glitch, and thanks? ^^ LOL

I was level 29 before I got this. I grouped with a lvl 26 dwarf paladin who was also doing the same quest. He knew where the instances were so I mostly /follow-ed him. Except for SFK (easy to get bad pulls and overwhelmed IMO) it was not that hard. BFD was especially quick it seemed to me (got a gem for both of us after killing 3 naga casters), we exorcised the heck out of the demons you encounter before the nagas. I had to do DM without him (conveniently, he had to log right after we got the last item HE needed, hmmm...), got a group for DM at Sentinel Hill and got the lumber (I should have known it was a bad group. They expected me to be main tank AND main healer with no backup healing in party at all plus a trigger-happy mage and warlock team that kept us constantly swamped(I should have known better but I had only been playing for a little over 3 weeks). The group was especially inexperienced with pulls (running willie-nillie all over pulling and attacking and letting mobs run off to pull more mobs, I spent a lot of time swearing at my computer screen. I had to rez whole party twice before we even got to the area with the woodcutting goblins that drop the lumber)). Oh, and the warrior (yes, there was a warrior in the party and they expected ME to main tank) would break off fights and leave me to mop up multiple mobs to go mine ore! We didn't get all the way through (two members had to go, "their lunch hours were up"(?)) but I got the lumber. (Later did DM all the way through at 31 with just another lvl 31 paladin. Smooth run.)

Finally got my hammer and it's great! I've been using it consistently (unless I'm using another weapon to keep my other weapon skills up) and got a Greater Impact enchant (from a guy who was enchanting for free in SW to get his skill up) but just recently, at 34, fished a lvl 35 2-H hammer from Southshore which may replace it (though I'll keep the Fist for the +stats if I'm the healer/support in a group).

If you can get this 22-25 lvl, it will rock to no end and last you until low 30s at least!

Not that I'm complaining (okay, maybe I am a lil), but why would they give you a bad@$$ shield, and then in the SAME quest chain, give you a 2h weapon, rendering your shield useless? Seems a bit counterintuitive.
