The Tome of Valor

Defend Daphne Stilwell from the Defias attack.

Neither of your spirits must be released from their mortal coils if you wish to succeed.

After you are successful, speak to Daphne Stilwell again.
  •
Protect Daphne Stilwell

Description

Now, they'll be coming again soon, I'd wager, so get yourself ready.

I've got myself a gun in the house. I'll grab it and be ready to help you out, but for the most part, you're on your own.

I've no idea how many they'll send, but I'm sure it'll be more than the few they sent earlier.

Ask the Light for whatever blessings you can because... did you hear that? I think they're coming.

We make our stand near the house!

I did this solo at level 20 with green gear and 11 points into Holy. I failed it the first time but managed to do it on my second try. I have a few tips:

First, use Retribution Aura. The Defias Raiders don't have a ton of HP, and it will weaken the rest down while you concentrate on one. The first time I tried and failed was with Devotion.

Second, use Consecrate to grab initial aggro on the wave, and use it once or twice more during each fight. Same idea as Ret aura it will beat all the Raiders down so by the time you get to the last one they will die in 1 or 2 hits.

Third, fight close to Daphne. If you fight close enough to her she will run up and melee with you. Between Ret aura and Consecrate she won't pull aggro, but you could use Righteous Fury just to be safe =)

Finally, bring some Melon Juice. You do get time to drink between waves but your time is limited.

PS - Can't hurt to make sure LoH is up!

Good luck to all =)

I just became a lvl 20 Draenei Pally, so I wanted to do this quest series. There is actually no Pally trainer in Exodar who'll give you a lead tho this quest. I just went to the Cathedral in SW where I talked to the guy with the blue questionmark and got the quest no prob.

Get to the exit of Deadmines (y'know, the one you take after killing VanCleef and Cookie).

Keep on that hill, and move to south till you see a house on a small banked valley, she lives there.

Coordinates would be 42,88 - I'll check them in a second and edit if necessary.

I'm a 25 Ret Pally (I was a twink at 19 so not everything will be just as easy for you), and i'm flying to IF to turn the quest in as I write this.&nbsp This is how you get each piece:

The first section, where you have to defend Daphne Stilwell from the Defias is not too hard, and not too easy.&nbsp It's really yourself that you have to look out, since she has a very good amount of hp, and regains it after each 'wave'.

For the Whitestone Oak Lumber in Deadmines, I can solo until the ogre, but since you need ranged to pull him, I suggest a group.&nbsp You just have to get to the goblins, and they should drop it the very first kill.

For the Jordan's Refined Ore Shipment, you have to go to Loch Modan, in Thelsamar, into the house with the Tailoring Supplies guy on the porch.&nbsp Talk to Bailor Stonehand, and take his quest.&nbsp Then go Northeast across the lake until you start seeing the ogre encampment.&nbsp Go in, and keep going until you reach a tree with the item you need under it.&nbsp Grab it and finish the quest for the shipment.

For the Smithing Hammer, Get to Southshore (Run there if you do not have the flightpaths), and then run east along the road until you reach Silverpine Forest.&nbsp Follow the road up the hill and into SFK.&nbsp You may need a group for this, but since you're a pally, you might have Turn Undead.
See if you can sneak upstairs and past as many pats and mobs as possible.&nbsp You will arrive into a courtyard.&nbsp Jump out and run to the stables to get the Hammer (On a log inside).

For the Kor Gem, you have to go to Auberdine, in Darkshore.&nbsp Take the boat in the Wetlands, and talk to Thundris Windweaver.&nbsp He'll give you a quest.&nbsp Run south until you reach Ashenvale, and then run west when you reach a path.&nbsp Keep running northwest from there until you reach the Instance, and swim under the little barrier.&nbsp Pop up in the otherside, and kill the Naga in there one by one until it drops.&nbsp Return to Thundris, and then Return to IF to complete the quest.

For those new to this chain, make sure you talk to Duthorian Rall in the Cathedral of Light in Stormwind before going to find her. He had a *blue* question mark over his head when I went in, so I never bothered to talk to him. He gives you a book that starts the quest by sending you to find Daphne.

During the fight three waves of defias thugs rush the house. I believe it was 3, 4, then 5. It was not a hard fight and if your health gets low cast a shield on yourself and you should be able to get two heals off without them being able to hurt you.

You have to survive 3 waves of attackers, all of mine were level 18--but they had fairly low hit points, so they go down quicker.

The first wave has 3, the second 4 and the 3rd 5. I was able to solo this at 20, so it's really not that bad at all. I didn't even have to heal mid fight on the first wave. The second wave I healed once, The third wave I healed a few times, had to cast invulnerability (which makes them all swarm Daphne) and drank a potion. 5 mobs beating on you is tough to last through with out that 8 seconds of invulnerability.

I didn't need Lay Hands, which surprised me.

I used Devotion Aura, Blessing of Power and kept Seal of the Crusader up the whole time. Keep in mind that as of this writing, the SoC bug is still active (damage per strike doesn't reduces as the Seal's description indicates), so it may be more difficult in later patches.

Good luck Brother and Sister Paladins!

To find her, go to the Deadmines exit and follow the dirt path around back (not inside the cave, around the mountain.) She will be in the orchard, and will walk to the house before the waves start coming. The mobs are lvl 16-18 defias who were pretty easy to defeat, even for this undergeared just-turned-20 palladin.

Tips:

* Use Consecration early and often. It just destroys them, and you get time to recharge your mana after each fight.

* Use Retribution aura, as they hit fast but weak.

* Kill with Daphne - Click on her, then press 'f' to get her target. The mobs will go down much faster if you two are working together.

* Use a board & sword (or mace, as the case may be.) That extra defense and mitigation will come in very handy with all of their small strikes.

I only had to shield once, and I probably could have even healed through that. This should be pretty easy for most people.

Nobody seems to have mentioned it but you can solo this at level 20. Just run back to her and she will attack one of them. Mind you - she will get aggro for it - but heals to full as soon as she goes OOC so just don't let her die fighting. And BoM her. ^^

I did it with no knowledge of what would come and hence didn't even use bubble, saving it for a dire situation that never came. No LoH.

This quest is not easy, but very soloable as a lvl 20. Use your bubble-heal early in the first wave, that way your Forbearance de-buff will have time to dissolve so you can do another one.

Make sure you use Daphne, her dps will help you a lot. First thing when each wave is finished, eat and drink up, bandage if you need. There is time to do all that before the next wave comes.

Walk in the Light!

I am reading people find this quest relatively easy at level 20 - saying that they soloed it without much difficulty.
I would like to congratulate those. I am a lvl 20, protection specced paladin and I died everytime I tried this quest. I can deal with the 3 men wave, but 4 & 5 men wave always get me.
I guess I must suck at playing this class.

Such fond memories. This entire quest line was the most fun I've had playing this game. I soloed everything at around level 20. It was incredibly difficult, but back then Paladins were overpowered and could take 4-5 enemies their own level if played right. The most involved storyline Blizzard has produced. It's definitely worth the challenge, and the adventure.

As stated above, it's a fairly simple tank and spank. Ret Aura, Righteous Fury, Consecration. I had Blessing of Wisdom in there, too. Having done main tank duty in DM a couple of times earlier that day, this was relatively child's play for a Prot spec. All melee, lots of Redoubt and Ret Aura love. Was almost too easy to solo at level 22. No special tactics other than my usual playing style.

One important thing to note is that these Defias will NOT run away when their health gets below a certain point. You *can* Consecrate and Ret Aura them to death without having to chase them all over Westfall.

This is the start of an important step for Paladins of the Alliance.

You must Speak with Duthorian Rall and he will give you the Tome of Valor. Read the book and he will give you the next quest. The next step is to go to Daphne Stillwell in Westfall. (http://classicdb.ch/?npc=6182)

To get to her you have to go West towards the shore and past Daggerhills. This is the pass in the mountains where you had to kill a bunch of Defias. You have to go up to the exit of the Deadmines and go passed it until you see a house down a slope. Daphne is in the small field in front of the house.

You will have to defend her against waves of Defias. It can be soloed pretty easily, heal Daphne to keep her alive while you dispatch the Defias.

Upon completion, return to Stormwind to the trainer and you will receive your ability to Sense Undead and the shield Bastion of Stormwind (http://classicdb.ch/?item=9607)

The paladin trainer will then instruct you to go to Jordan Stilwell. He is at the Gates of Ironforge (52,36). He will give you the quest The test of righteousness (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=1653)

This quest is putting you on the path of an important Blue two handed Mace that Paladins can use for a long time: Verigan's fist (http://classicdb.ch/?item=6953#comments)

A great boost to all Paladins and highly recommended to invest the time to get it.

The quest begins as soon as you talk to daphne. She will run into the house to grab her gun. In the meanwhile you can hear the defias shout as they approach the house.

The first wave is 3 raiders. You should be able to take them down fast by using the retribution aura combined with consecration. I was using a polearm at that time, but it pays of to have a shield equiped.

The second wave consists of 4 raiders. This time you should use the same tactic, by using the retribution aura combined with the consecration on the ground. However, you need to stay really close to daphne to force her to fight with her sword. Assist her by selecting her and presseing the "f" button. If you attack the same target as her they go down faster.

The third and last wave consists of 5 raiders. Same tactic as the previous wave.

extras:
popping bubble will cause the raiders to attack Daphne instead of you. You can use this as a breather to pick them of Daphne one by one in the last fight. If you attack them fast enough they can't kill her.

You can rest between the waves. use this to keep you mana and health up.

The quest fails once you release your spirit. So you can bring a friend along to ress you once you die. (haven't tried it yet)

Bugged for me the first two tries...they never shouted and never came, but DID appear. Had to call a GM and I tried the next day.

Come back online, try once, get through the first 2 waves easily, then the 3rd wipes out the woman and I have to start over. I read on here that as long as you get all of them attacking you, you're fine and all you really have to do is heal. So I tried that approach, and all you really do is go out to meet the first one that comes, and then focus on whichever one the Woman picks next. All the while basically all you're doing is healing yourself.

This quest is possible to solo as a lvl 20 pally.

I got it on the 2nd try, almost had it on the first go, but ran out of enough mana to heal myself at the end of the last wave.

Have a healing potion on hand for near the end. Drink between the waves, and don't heal Daphne, just try and keep aggro on yourself, and you'll live through it.

Soloed this as a level 20.

Used:
Retribution Aura
2H sword
Lay on Hands
Divine Shield
1 mana potion

There was enough time between the waves for me to drink and bandage, so that was okay.

Daphne does more damage than I do, I think, so I pulled the aggro w/ Seal of Fury and healed myself constantly. Daphne did most of the work. I think I only got a few swings per defias.

I did have to resort to the Divine Shield so that I could heal myself, and then Daphne. And I did use Lay on Hands with a different wave.

Strange that this is listed as lvl 25, but the gathering quests after this are 22.

Either way, get it done before you go into Deadmines, or you'll be pissed and have to go in again.
