Lightforge Iron

Search the wreckage of The Flying Osprey in the Wetlands.

Description

The shipwrecks off the shore here are the doomed Third Fleet of Kul'Tiras, burned and sunk by Red Dragons during the last Great War.

The Fleet hailed from Lordaeron, but one ship, an Elvish Destroyer: Flying Osprey, was with it. It was shipping a load of Lightforge Iron and joined the Third Fleet for protection. Ironic that it sunk to the same dragons...

Enough history. The Flying Osprey is wrecked to the south of Menethil Harbor. If you find the Lightforge Iron there, bring it to me.

The chest is on the small island in the middle of the boat just south-east of the inn of Menethil.

the wreckage is directly to the south of menethil harbor (exact coordinates are 12. 64), you dont have to go out of the town, one ingot is in a chest on the ship, the others ones you have to get on the murloc's around the area (either underwater or in thier camps)

as for the debate on whether the drops are more common when you are near the ship, im not sure. all i know is that i was killing murloc raiders in baradin bay (the area directly west/left of the ship) and they were still dropping the lightforge ingots

Ok the first part of the quest you go straight south out of menethial by the gryphon
You will see on you map and mini-map what looks like an island. It is an island and it has a ship broken over it. In the middle of the ship is a grass hill. On that hill are a number of boxes. One small box will turn your cursor into the gear wheel which mean s you can pick something up.
You will in all likey hood have to fight a couple of 29 murlocs. On the boat. Once you complete the quest another quest pops up for getting five more bars. You can do this quest. The drop rate is poor so figure you will kill about 12-14 murlocs for your 5 bars. It should be good XP anyway. All the murlocs in the water drop them. I worked my way out the bay and was still getting lightforge some distance from the boat.

You can the the Lightforge Ingot at 12,64 in a chest. Then this leads into https://classicdb.ch/?quest=324 and you kill the murlocs around the ship to get the rest of the Ingot.

go along the road to menethil harbor or fly.

at the harbor, go strictly south.

see a ship wreck half above and half below water that is split in half.

look around, a chest that u can open contains it.

dont have to kill anything, if in doubt of this killing raiders point, check your quest.

If you are a warrior, try to align this quest with Iron Coral: https://classicdb.ch/?quest=1708s

You will be fighting the exact same annoying murlocs in the exact same place.

I found the chest on the island in the back of the inn... where the boat breaks. Only had to kill one lvl 29, but I'm 32. I swam to the left of it and cast breathing on myself.. dove down, and there's a little ship wreck with Raiders around it. After killing 6, I got one. Not bad ratio.

They are off the murlocs and not in chests.

1. Go to menethil harbor.
2. Go behind the whole city and you'll see a couple of murlocs swimming around. They must be Murloc Raiders or you're in the wrong spot.
3. They will be next to the boat or on the boat.
4. There's a box on the boat. Hover around the boxes until you see a gear symbol.
5. Open it
6. Do the other quest
7. It takes a long time to get them so be patient

it is in duskwood's category because it is part of a chain quest that originates in duskwood, the same as the search for stalvan chain quest worked, and the missing diplomat in SW :)

I envy you guys that got them so quickly... i had to kill about 20 of them. by the way, they only seemed to drop for me from the murlocs that were in the water

i didnt see it anywhere here but south and slightly east of the boat there is like a little village with a few there but the water around it has a lot.

This quest ends when you open the chest at the ship. You then get "The Lost Ingots" as a continuation at the chest. I killed 13 Murlocs prior to the chest without an ingot, but thirteen after the chest got me my four. This makes sense now. You need the other quest to get ingots from Murlocs. Any Murlocs in the area have them.

first find boat 12,64 just southeast of harbor, kill a couple to get on the boat to open the chest, then the search for ingots can take you further southeast 7,70 (drop rate had no effect on location except for those on land where much higher drop rate).

I did this quest in about 20 min. What worked for me is sticking with the Murlocs closest to the sunk ship. When I killed them all the first time...I waited for a few minutes for them to respawn...then nailed them again. Got my 5 in about 20 min.

Is it just me, or does this boat remind of something out of either Lord of the Rings or The Chronicles of Narnia?
