A New Plague

Apothecary Johaan in the town of Brill wants you to bring him 4 samples of venom from a Vicious Night Web Spider.

Description

While you were out gathering, I uncovered some old text in one of my tomes that indicates that an ancient plague wiped out thousands of innocent victims. Later it was discovered that the deadly agent in the plague was preserved through the venom of Night Web Spiders.

Bring me some venom from a Vicious Night Web Spider to complete this experiment. I want to see if the contagious element from the venom will work with my new concoction. Rumor has it the spiders can be found in Eastern Tirisfal Glades.

This quest you have to go to Venomweb Vale. This is located NE of the Crusader Outpost, and south of the Scarlet Monestary.

Take the road East out of UC, head NE on the path towards SM, then once you past the Crusader Outpost on the right, leave the path, and head down into the vale.

Venomweb Vale is just east of the Crusader Outpost, south of Scarlet Monestary. The mobs are spaced far enough apart that aggro really isn't a problem.

Did this as a lvl 12 mage (quest still yellow), got 220 exp, the Apprentice Sash, and a slight increase with Undercity rep.

How to complete (Quest #369):
  1. pick quest /way 59,49, 52,30 Apothecary Johaan
  2. go to /way 82,36, 54,34
  3. kill (NPC #1555) for drop 4x Vicious Night Web Spider Venom (45% drop rate)
  4. return quest /way 59,49, 52,30 Apothecary Johaan

coords are right the only time i killed these mobs is for the quest and the drop rate for me at least was 37% i had to kill 11 of these guys so not so bad

I'm not sure if you all frequent this site, but there's a bunch of plug ins you can get for WoW, one of which is called "Mob2", and that has drop % included when you hover the mouse over any enemy, and it will tell you the listed % for any item, rare/quest/junk

check that out, it might be eaiser.

The spiders can aggro especially if you're the only one in the area killing them. They are spaced far enough from each other to fight safely but they wander and if one happens to wander in your direction you could find yourself fighting off 2, which combined with the poison debuff could cause problems. Also, the drop rate on this was appalling for me. I know only 4 samples are required but it took a long time for the first one to drop.

Since Vicious Venom Web Spiders are 9 to 10, you should be okay at 8. Bring plenty food!
