The Missing Courier

Locate the courier's boat somewhere along the coast of Feralas.

Description

It's been about a week since Raschal, the courier, set out for Thalanaar. He knows Feralas well; he's been with us since General Feathermoon led the expeditionary forces here. I know his plan was to take a row boat down the coast and try and traverse across southern Feralas to avoid the Horde camp.

I couldn't find his boat, but maybe you can. Maybe it is hidden, or maybe it was sunk. Regardless, it might hold a clue as to where he is. If you uncover something, please let me know.

i found it at 45.64, very close to the previous posters.

here's what u wanna look for. head south along the coast. make sure that you are south of the estuary/river. On your map, you will see a little portion of land that first, cuts in ever so slightly, and then has part that cuts out into the sea. You want to be right in between there.

You know your in the right spot when you see a thick mossy tree on your left(if your looking south). If you havent already, you should see some wreckage from the coastline, i.e. a box, and some wood stuff. from there, head into the water about 3 meters. your&nbsp looking for a small row boat. click it, finish your quest, and recieve the new one...QUICKLY as your probably already bombarded by enemies.

I completed this quest at level 43 and got 2700 XP, and my reputation with Darnassus increased. I also got very small reputation increases (revealed olnly via the Reputation UI add-on) with Ironforge and Gnomeregan Exiles.

I had a hard time finding it, even with all the instructions listed here, so here's a couple screenies to help.

Location on map

Screenshot of the area and the broken crate people were mentioning.. If anyone from allakhazam would like to save and upload the images to add to quest thatd be great, i'm not sure how long they will last with my limited bandwith.

After i spent a good hour swimming around the area looking for a sunken boat i found it. Trick is... you dont actually SEE the boat at all its almost all the way buried under the dirt. It is only about 5 steps away from the shore also. If you use Cosmos the map location is 45,64. (if you dont use cosmos only other way i can think to explain it is if you was to follow the very top north east corner of the isle of dread directly east till you run into the shore of feralas main land your prett close) You will see a broken crate/box on the shore, its a few feet in the water past that. Your mouse should change when you mouse over it. only problem now is all the lvl 49+ mobs standing next to it.

The missing boat is exactly at 45,65. It's under the water but there's some wreckage on the shore nearby to indicate you are close.

For those that don't have anything with coordinates I'll give directions.

If you come off the boat from Feathermoon Stronghold leave the dock on your right and follow the shoreline.&nbsp The rough location is Southwest of The High Wilderness but on the shoreline. For further clarification, the location is also Southeast of Feathermoon Stronghold and East of the Isle of Dread.

Remember that the wreckage is a few feet under water so diving underwater might help you find it. Your cursor will also change when you move it over the location above the water.

There are 47-49 water elementals to deal with, as well as 47-49 elite giants. I recommend getting the two quests from the goblin in Feralas just beside the dock.(the one that has the boat that takes you to feathermoon stronghold) One of the quests will allow you to shrink the giants so they become non elite and easier to kill. You'll likely need to kill the elementals and giants on the way to the quest location anyway so might as well get some extra experience by killing them and also by doing the two quests.

I hope this information helped. :)

Although there are many elementals and elite giants around, this quest can be easily completed, as you can avoid most danger by riding close to the mountainside, and then with good timing, ride right up to the wreckage and quickly click and complete the quest. When you see the wreckage, it will have a gear over it to click, but that doesn't mean that it'll take a casting time to open, it's an instant click, so even if you manage to attract some unfriendly customers, you can quickly grab the completion and then try to run for it. Happy trails! :)

It was like two or thee steps into the water for me. It blends in very well with the sea bottom, I wouldn't have seen it except for the cursor change when I moused over it. Along the shore you find the remains of a crate, then like a broken bottle in the sand. Halfway between them I walked about three steps into the water. Boat was right there. Hard to see, but it was there.

The coords are correct, but depending on your color settings it may be hard to find. Hug the hills all the way to 45* head directly to the shoreline and stand in the water about ankle deep, mouse over the water ,,, Viola

For all you that say: "OMG I only got 400 xp?"&nbsp It's because this is part of a quest chain, and the next link in the chain (which requires you to move from one NPC in feathermoon to the next... how hard!) gives you another 400, then the last link in the chain give you several thousand.

Standing on it the coords are 45, 64 just off the beach about 10 feet

The signs your by it is two small pieces of wood right at the lip of the water on the beach they are small and kinda blend in.

The giants can be shrunk to be easliy killed
(if you get them down to 50-60% before shrinking they give elite xp.) :D

Even tho it seems to be a random spawn along the coast, I assume a few things will remain the same:

The boat is just underwater very close to the shore. Its not breaking thru the surface of the water, thus one would have to look very carefully to spot it.

Wooden boxes seem to be littered around the wreckage aswell. These appear above the water line this might make it somewhat easier to spot the location

To solve this or any other "impossible" quest, consider some exiting conditions:

1) Bliz might actually know what they are doing, in which case, you most decidedly do not know what you are doing so try to look at it as if you are overlooking something, in this case, the quests just down the shore that allow you to shrink the giants to managable size.

2) Secondly, not all quests are meant to be solo-easy at the level they are offered. Gosh, how about taking someone with you? A group of 41s could screw this quest up, so tagging it "yellow" isn't entirely unjustified, and even the right character class with the right specs can still solo this, maybe not Mr. Rant, by some of us can.

3) There are literally thousands of quests to do, so spend your time doing them instead of ranting about the tiny handful that you couldnt complete.

You, and all of us who read your post while in search of useful information, will be much, much happier people.

As has been said, the quest is grotesquely undercon'd. The boat itself is very close to shore, but is just underwater. To avoid wandering around more than absolutely possible, I'll try and provide decent directions, but it's difficult. If you look on the map here , the boat can be found directly left of the very bottom of the letter "F" in the word Frayfeather.

This quest is one of the worst I've seen in a long time.

I got it at level 41, and it was YELLOW.&nbsp But the target boat is on a section of coastline swarming with level 49(!) mobs, including many elites.&nbsp That's almost "skull" level. The boat is basically invisible unless you're extremely close to it, necessitating a long careful search while being attacked by dozens of mobs that are essentially unkillable.

It is stupid to even be offered this quest at level 41, and even stupider to tag it yellow.

Blizzard should pay Anonymous for making WoW playable.

Ok...to find this.
Take a ruler. Put it across the top of the Isle of Dread (take into account all the little bumps but not the tiny tiny NW island). Your ruler will be slightly lower at the right.
Follow the ruler east of the Isle and the boat is there on the Coast of Feralas across the bay.

Good luck... I think this is badly levelled as well. I died twice doing this but that's not bad as you can find the boat that way too! Many big monsters! AAARGH!

It seems a bit hard cause of whats around it. Mount up, run out there, get to the boat and get out. I died once, but thats cause I was a little careless.

The other thing is that the boat seems to be a little small, I had to swim around the area before i realised I was right on top of it, so make sure you keep an eye out for the boat as well as for the mobs.

I found the boat right at 45,65 just like CobrA-real said in the 4th post. The boat is about 20 feet out from the shoreline, but completely submerged. It was hard to spot under water and it DID look like a pile of dirt. I'm a 46 warrior. Didn't agro any elementals when I opened the boat. Took only a split second to open the boat and then "Complete Quest" window appeared. Got 2700xp. Thx for the help.

I did this quest a few months ago with a human warlock, lev 44, by swimming over from the island. I just made it before my fatigue ran out, and I didn't agro or die once. I just did it again with a lev 43 Gnome mage, but this time my health started going down WAY before I ran out of fatique! I don't know if they changed the way fatigue works, because when I had a quarter of a bar left my health started going down RAPIDLY! Both the fatigue and life ran out at exactly the same time. Weird.... maybe Gnomes have smaller lungs? Anyway, I rezzed at the edge of the 'deep' area, so that was no problem, and didn't agro any giants at all swimming above them. Agroed a single water Elemental AFTER I 'looted' the boat, but still managed to run my butt off outta there. Even with the one death it was still an easy chunk of Exp.

I did this as a lvl 42 mage. The map given here helped alot. Crazy that we need to get thru 48s & 49 elites. I walked along the shore against the cliffs & used my mana shield/blink to get past the elementals. When i located the boat i ran to it, blinked into the sea with mana shield on, waited (healing pot!) & swam back under water towards boat. No aggro when i completed quest by staying underwater this way. Then swam out to sea till safer to swim in...watch the underwater sea giants!

Good luck!

Don't worry about the elites, you can avoid them easily. I soloed this with a lvl 44 Paladin. Got mugged by elementals a couple of times, killed one, ran(swam) another time. Found boat under water right at edge as stated in other posts. The mountains on the coast as I ran back is also a good place for Vale screech spirits if you have that quest.
