The Principal Source

Use the Empty Cliffspring Falls Sampler to draw a sample of water from the mouth of the cave by the falls.

Deliver the Filled Cliffspring Falls Sampler to Alanndarian Nightsong in Auberdine, Darkshore.
Filled Cliffspring Falls Sampler
Provided Item:
Empty Cliffspring Falls Sampler

Description

The Cliffspring Falls in Darkshore serves as the principal source of drinking water for the region, and now I suspect it is the principal source of the poison that is harming the local fauna - deer specifically. Use this sampler to draw some water from the mouth of the cave; be careful, as dangerous naga now reside in a cave by the falls.

Once filled, deliver it to Alanndarian Nightsong in Auberdine. She is the one that requested our aid, and you will work with her to address this malady.

you dont need cordinates for this quest or anything. just walk north on the path from auberdine until you get to a bridge. go east up the river until you get to the waterfall. on the left side of the waterfall, you can enter the cave. watch out for the 16-17 siren water guys. i couldn't solo it as a 14 but when i got to 15 i did it with a group of two 13s.

Can't believe people are having trouble with this.

Solo'd level 14. Pulled em 1 by 1, used my bear to take em out. Only healed myself once throughout the whole quest. Died once when I fell off the cliff and pulled aload of bears and nightsabers, but that was my only setback.

Edit: I'm bored so heres a step-by-step for Alliance.

1 - Go to Darnassus, speak to the druid trainer on the second floor.

2 - Go to Moonglade and speak to Dendrite Starblaze and complete the quest. Take the next quest, called The Principle Source. You should now have a vial in your inventory.

3 - Fly to Darkshore.

4 - Head north following the road until you get to a bridge. Follow the river east until you get to the clifs. Cross to the north side of the river (if you have not already) and venture carefully up the slope. First lizard-mob use Roots and Wrath a few times, then go to Bear and take him out. Regen your mana, venture up and bear to take out the Sirens up there (again, one at a time. Personally, I Wrath'd one then jumped down, to pull it away from the rest.). Go into the cave entrance and fill your vial.

If you have both the quests to get the water sample from the lake, make sure you press the correct sampler at the correct place.

I just wasted 20mins pressing Empty Sampling Tube http://classicdb.ch/?item=12350 at 54,33 thinking the quest is bugged.

Be sure to press this tube: Empty Cliffspring Falls Sampler http://classicdb.ch/?item=15844

ps. Thanks for all the +ratings and ppl saying Thank you :)

The mouth of the waterfall is right in front of wwh the opening to the cave for the Cave Mushrooms quest is. If you follow the road past Bashal'Aran you should come to a bridge and follow it upstream.

Here is a bit of advice you might find useful...&nbsp As a L14 druid I cannot take on the L17 casters.&nbsp Their Smite hurts too much.&nbsp But what I can do is ask in General chat if anyone can help me for a few moments.&nbsp 3 people ranging from 22-45 came to clear just so I could get my vial filled.&nbsp Yes, soloing is an aspect of playing the game but so is asking for help.&nbsp I could have spent all day grinding it and might have got enough luck on my side to clear enough to fill the vial.&nbsp I doubt it though.&nbsp So...&nbsp just ask for help you may be suprised at the response.&nbsp Honest gratitude goes a long way to people helping you on a regular basis too.

The waterfall top is at 55, 33 in Darkshore of Kalimdor. When you're in Auberdine, follow the road to the north to the river and follow the north side of it until you see an obvious waterfall, and then go up a hill to the left. I encountered some level 10-ish mobs with a maximum of one add. Note, you must kill the first two mobs inside the cave also, or you'll draw aggro. After that, you can just jump off the cliff and then book it out in bear form and nothing will kill you as long as you're not swimming (hit the ground). When you get the the road you might want to shift back to caster and pop a rejuvination, but that's probably overkill.

I hate this quest. Several of my druids have done it and almost all have died at least once each time. The worst thing is that I think I've used the "Remove poison" talent a total of maybe a dozen times. In a year. Even then, the poison wears off almost faster than you can remove it.

We all know where the three naga are you have to kill: one on the path up to the cave, one just inside the cave and the 17 caster on the opposite bank. The problems I've had are: the phantom add on the top of the hill to the right of the path (surprise!), the fact that you can't get to the 17 caster from the other side of the river without climbing spikes and the amazing respawn rate.

This last time, my 14 druid killed the path naga, then started on the first inside naga but was driven away by the 17 caster before completing (down to 10 health). Went back and managed to pull the 17 caster without aggroing the ones inside the cave, killed her with the bear and then went after the cave guy. Killed him and the phantom spawned right on top of me. Ran out of the cave to fight him. Two others spawned on the path. Still had enough health left to run except one of them had something like a net (not daze or stun) which stopped me completely. A net? What is going on?

At least I got the water sample. This part of the quest is too high for most level 14 leather-wearers and if your bash ability in bear isn't working very well (2 seconds at level 14? Give me a break!), you can't rez below 100 health without running out of time.

A suggestion: hang on to it if you really want the Cure Poison ability and do it at level 16 or 17. Then you can have naga for lunch. Assuming you'd want to.

I died 3 times at lvl 15 before I realized you can get to the mouth of the cave by cowardly sidling along next to the entrance on the left side.&nbsp You must, of course, kill the bear(?) on the path and then one or two lower-level naga to get to the mouth of the cave, but you needn't deal with the one inside or across the pool.&nbsp Be sure you have the vial on your toolbar, walk into the corner where the stone of the cave meets the mountainside dirt to the extreme left of the opening, then inch toward the opening while clicking on the vial --- you'll get "requires cave opening" (or some such statement) until you inch just enough.&nbsp Then, voila, it fills!&nbsp Then carefully inch away (keeping out of the sight-line of the naga) and escape.&nbsp PS:&nbsp The naga may respawn behind you down the path in the time this takes.

I have ran inside the cave and cant find the right place...At first I thought it was outside the cave where the waterfalls begans, but thats wrong. Then I tried the small lake inside the cave at the very bottom of it...But still no success. So where the heck am I supposed to fill the bottle?

Maybe someone can add a screenshot from "in-eye" to see the right place to fill it for the Alliance!

thx!

1. Dendrite Starbreeze in Moonglade tells you to fill the vial at Cliffspring Falls (in Darkshore) and take the full vial to Alanndarian in Auberdine. This is the Alliance druid cure poison quest, part 2.
2. Head north from Auberdine in Darkshore til you hit the river bridge, then head east toward the mountains - south side of the river has a camp of level 16-17 mobs about halfway up, so beware.
3. There are 3-4 merman type mobs IN THE CAVE at the top of the waterfall, and they are level 15-16. These must be dead before you can collect your water sample. If solo, I would advise pulling them one at a time, which can be done with some judicious running and pulling with Wrath. If it's level 16 and you're 14, as I was, nuke it down with Wrath by channeling through the fight and keep Moonfire running on it.
4. Once you've cleared the mermen, collect your sample and run, run, run downhill immediately. As with the water sample collection on the Horde druid side, there is a spawn trap here that pops a level 17 merman mob and friend to kill you as soon as you fill the vial, so run downhill.
5. Take the vial back to Auberdine for the next part of the quest, collect 5 earthroot and 12 lunar mushrooms.

Just a helpfull tip here.

Go to the bridge with the first waterfall and then turn right. Get on the left side of the river and follow it upstream. At the end of the river there will be a small path on your left leading up hill. That's the path for you.
There are Nagas at the top of the path that will attack you on sight, Stormscale Sirens (casters) and Stormscale Waveriders (warriors).

The sirens are pretty much the standard caster type of mob.

The waveriders are 99% pure melee, with one addition: The can use a water-jet attack that will knock you back several yards and has a chance to stun you as well.

Once you fill the container a new type will spawn right next to you: a Toxicologist. Not sure what types of attacks or defenses she has.

If you want to save time here you can Double Dip. There is another quest available called "Cave Mushrooms". The cave that quest requires you to go into and search is the same cave you will see behind the waterfall here!
So you can grab both quests, fill the container for "Principle Source", and then go into the cave to find the mushrooms.
Warning: The Nagas inside the cave can be tough to down, have a wide aggro range, and are very social (they will assist each other). You might want to bring a couple of friends along, or better yet: Ask in general chat if anyone is doing the Cave Mushrooms and see if you can group up. You get help doing both quests and they get the benefits of having a Druid along!

When you are at the falls with a cave behind them, kill the 2 things that are on both sides of the river. Then cross the river and stand on the brownish rock on the SOUTH side of the river and inch forward clicking the vial. Once its filled you should be able to jump down to the river below and swim to the road.

Ok, here's the thing...when you leave Auberdine make the first left available (N)...stay on that road until you come to a bridge. Cliffspring Falls or whatever will appear so you know you're in the right place...when you're standing on the bridge you'll see a small waterfall to the right. Cross the bridge and turn right. Follow along that portion of the rivers edge going deeper into the woods, until you see a larger flowing waterfall. Continue up the left side and you'll see a path..very clear...follow the path around and you'll come across the blue scaley snake like fish people. There is only one, just kill it and go until you hit the cave entrance at the top of the hill...then another one will appear...Kill it and stand in the center of the cave entrance,&nbsp click on your bottle in inventory and complete the quest. Its really pretty simple if you are not afraid to fight those scaley things.

Well I saw that there was ocean all around the continent, and that you have to go up a river...

So I jumped in the water, and put on aquatic form (lvl 16 druid quest) and then just outran everything that tried to attack me. I just went around the first waterfall, and then swam up the river until I got to the second waterfall.&nbsp In the end, I had to kill 4 naga that were guarding the cave entrance, and that's it.

Using Aquatic form made this quest extremely easy.

It is on cliffspring falls&nbsp there will be a path up a mountain and there will be a lvl 15-16 naga. then another lvl 16naga at the very front of the waterfall cave enterence.&nbsp Now you can just stay by the rock and take the sample you dotn gotta go all the way in mages will attk you then..&nbsp but once you take the sample a lvl 17-19 naga mage and a lvl 16 naga will attk you i you just run while revujulation is on you will be fine they dont chase you to far...

Naga"s: they CAN push you back about 7feet and hurt you a 18-20 they will only do this about 1-2times.. so... carefull if your in bear form casue you cant heal in bear form

well did it at lvl 14, killed the first two nagas, then attempted to fill the vile without aggroing the caster on the opposite bank. no dice, so my advice of course is kill all three #$%^&*!s, than fill the vile.

i aggroed the lvl 17 caster, so i ran. left combat and came back with full health and mana and overpowered the caster with wrath and a little moonfire. all clear, filled the vile. as soon as i jumped up to leave, i aggroed the first two guys who had respawned and they killed me, so i guess next time, the best way is to kill all three nagas, fill the vile, and swim up the river towards safety
