Lunar Fungus (12)

Description

The water will serve as the base of the curative salve I'll make for the deer. For curative properties, I need some earthroot. Herbalists know how to find it, so if we're unlucky and you aren't one then you'll need to find one to help us out.

Finally for potency, I need some lunar fungus. Finding lunar fungal blooms is easy enough; they're all over the place in caves just to the east of here. Moonkin reside in the caves and they're irritable as of late, so be careful.

Lunar Fungas is found inside small spotted mushrooms&nbsp in the following Moonkin caves South East of Audbodine (spelling).&nbsp These mushrooms stick out because they will be the only one spotted, but are also one of the smallest which makes them hard to spot at first.&nbsp I found all 12 in the 3 caves at

(43,48), (43,50), (42,52).

YOU DO NOT NEED HERBALISM TO GATHER THESE, they are a quest item and the wheel will appear when you mouse over them.

Anyone looking for Lunar Fungus should go to the Moonkin Caves to the east of Auberdine. Once you kill the Moonkin in each cave (there are three caves), look around the cave touching your mouse pointer on each mushroom you see on the floor. You'll see the cursor suddenly change to the search icon, stand by the mushroom and right click on it. You'll notice a status bar appear, when it fills you'll be presented with either 1 or 2 bits of Lunar fungus.

Don't worry about the Earthroot. Here's what you do: Wait until level 16 when you're doing the Trial of the Sea Lion quest. Follow madroxe's excellent tips.

As you're running through the Wetlands, stop and see Kixxle at 50, 38 (looks like a grell). Buy three Earthroot for 2s 40c. Then, when you reach Stormwind, see Bernard Gump (64,61) and/or Maria Lumere (46,78) to get the other two for 80c each.

Finish up this quest when you get back to the Auberdine area.

You don't need herbalism to collect the fungus, anyone with the quest can just walk in to any moonkin cave and take it. It even reappears quickly. As for the earthroot, just go back to Lake Al'ameth and kill elementals. It's not a common drop, so you will need to try for quite a while.

Gahering the lunar fungus was a piece of cake, they're located inside the moonkin caves right to the east of Auberdine and hey are tiny little mushrooms with white spots on them.
Getting the earthroot is a little more hard, if you dont have herbalism, then just buy it off somebody or auctionhouse.

you can only find earthroot in 2 ways:

-Herbalism: if u have it go to Teldrassil. Earthroot its gray purple look and usually is on top of small hills, so look near mountains on Teldrassil map..theres some in 41,36 nd 41,42..

-Buying (no herbalism):its difficult to buy, cause usually theres no search fr it, so..the best way of having it is to go Darnassus, find someone who has herbalism skill, nd propose a deal to him/her..&nbsp

p.s.-ill try to sell some in ah..

Good Luck, Have a good game :)

The mushrooms in the cave are super small, and often located just inside the cave on the sides. Do a very thorough scroll-over when looking for them.

With earthroot, you must have 15 herbalisim to gather it. If you dont have 15 herbalism, you'd be better off lvling it up in terdassil than darkshore as theres more low lvl herbs. If you dont have herbalism, go on the AH. Earthroot is super cheap.

This is the 4th step in the Alliance druid cure poison spell quest, in Darkshore. Your druid is level 14 to get the quest from Mathengryl Bearwalker in Darnassus, and the moonkin things are 11-13, so solo pulls do the job. Caves are just across the road, east from Auberdine, close to where you waxed Lunaclaw for bear form quest.

Find the cave with the lunakin caster in it, beacuse that cave has 3-4 fungus spawn points in it. The other lunakin caves only have single fungus spawns, and the fungus spawns on the same timer as the lunakin, so you need to move from cave to cave.

I've finished my poison quest, and can now cure poison with my NE druid.

However, I still have the frelling fungus in my inventory. I've not done the Den Mother quest - is this at all related to that? Or can I just destroy it from my inventory, and chalk it up to a glitch?

Go in the Moonkin caves, and you'll find little mushrooms(red with white spots, i think). Collect twelve of them. For Earthroot, either go to dolanaar and kill millions of Timberlings, or take the left boat at Auberdine. This will take you to Menethil Bay. Make sure you open the flight route. Follow the road leading to Loch Modan. Note: STAY ON THE ROAD IF YOU ARE AT THE LEVEL THIS QUEST IS INTENDED FOR. There are level 20+ creeps around. After you head down enough, there will be a little vendor who sells herbs. If the doesn't give you enough, follow the road and head to Ironforge. Again, STAY ON THE ROAD. After you pass many tunnels, the level of the creeps get a bit lower so you can relax a bit. When you get to Ironforge, be sure to open the flight routes. Head to the auction area and hope someone has some Earthroot to sell. Afterwards, you can fly back to Menethil Bay (if you opened both flight routes) and take the boat back to Auberdine.

I started on this quest yesterday. Got the water sample, turned it in and got the quest for earthroot and lunar fungus. I have the earthroot as I am a herbalist but I looked in every moonkin cave in Darkshore and cannot find any mushroom that I can gather. I saw plenty of different kinds in the caves, but cannot select them at all. I spent 2 hours running around looking. The area was full of higher levels gathering small eggs for the Winter's veil cookies quest, but no low level Druids that would have been gathering the fungus as well. Anyone else have this problem?

1: If you're a herbalist, you can see earthroot *and* lunar fungus on your minimap. Don't forget you can always abandon the skill later, so it's worth taking it up and skilling it up a bit so you can pick your own Earthroots - instead of blowing your load on AH, you could even make a profit from the quest!

2: Earthroot grows mostly in rocky areas, such as on the outside of caves, base/top of hills/mountains/rocks... If you're experienced in mining, earthroot likes the same areas as mineral deposits, although it only grows outdoors in my experience so don't bother looking inside caves.

3: Lunar Fungus is small, and other mushrooms in the cave are also small. The easiest way to identify Lunar Fungus without waving your cursor over everything is to look for the mushrooms with spotted tops all the scenery mushrooms have plain-coloured caps.

I bought the earthroot from the Auction House for 5s. The fungi can be found from the caves that moonkins reside in (around Auberdine). Some cave locations are:
(43,49)
(42,52)
(45,50)
(45,53)
Each cave has about two or three of these mushrooms. And they are the smallest mushrooms! Each looting gives you 1 or 2 fungus. So it can be done very fast. As for the moonkins that you have to kill, they are all around lvl 11-12 so that should be like child play for you.

If you are not a herbalist, Earthroot can also be dropped from the Timberlings near Dolanaar in Teldrassil.

There is also a Vendor in the wetlands that sells Earthroot for 80 copper each. He is near the prospector you run into along the side of the road
heading away from the harbor.

You can just ask in General for Earthroot. There's almost always someone willing to sell it, although at a premium. You shouldn't pay more than 5s each. It's only 1-2s each on the AH.
