Curing the Sick

Use the Curative Animal Salve on 10 Sickly Deer that are located throughout Darkshore; doing so should cure them. Sickly Deer have been reported starting south of the Cliffspring River to the north of Auberdine and extending all the way into southern Darkshore where the edge of Ashenvale begins.

Description

The amount of salve made out of the reagents you brought me is good enough for ten doses, <name>. While I work with the village to try and make some more salve, I'd like for you to help us get a head start. All around Darkshore are sickly deer; use the salve on them and cure their malaise.

Dendrite Starblaze in Moonglade will want to talk to you when you're done, I'm sure. Please extend Auberdine's thanks to the Cenarion Circle there... and let me say thanks to you directly for the help you've given!

There is a bug. (At least when I played my druid a while ago and did this quest.)
Entangle the deer, run up to them, and then cure them. The deer will be cured and then it will die >:D! (I liked dying deer so thats how I figured it out :)
You will be counted for curing the deer when you cure him. Once the deer dies you will be counted again!

1st April 2007 I did this quest, I had read about the bug (root a deer before you cure it will make it count as 2 cured deers) and I tried it out of boredom. result, still works!

so when you see a deer, cast entangling roots, run up, cure it, when it dies it will count as 2!

Just walk up to a deer surrounded by a green cloud of "sickness", click on him, and then click on your salve icon which you should have dragged to your hotbar by now. The deer are pretty much scattered all along darkshore.

I used entangling roots too and the glitch worked for me as well.&nbsp Really makes this quest simple.&nbsp I also found the most sickly deer close to Slude Fen.

If you're even more morbid, or perhaps looking for an excuse for the blatant murdering of innocents, the cured and strangled carcasses are also skinnable. Your cursor doesn't change when you hover over them, but if you right-click they still get skinned. :)

The root / cure bug still works. Although I am thankful for 50% time spent on this quest, I still cannot stop weondering: what kind of a sicko likes to watch deers dying? O.o

I find it ironic that the bug to help save the deer faster involves killing them -).

Root em,&nbsp Apply cure, get 1 save, then when the deer dies from roots, get a 2nd save

If you end up wasting a salve on a bugged deer, just abandon the quest.&nbsp You can pick it up again from the same person with 10 new salves.

This trick still works, but you have to cleanse the deer before any damage ticks. It took me a few tries to get the distance of the cure set. Its nice once you get it working right.

I can't get cure poison?

I did these quests at lvl 16 when I had to do my waterform quest.

I've run back to all the quest givers/quest enders and I can't get the last bit to get cure poison!

Argh :( I'm so lost.

This is the next to last step in the Alliance Night Elf druid cure poison spell quest. Cure 10 sicko deer in Darkshore.

In the last part you took 5 earthroot and 12 lunar fungus to Alanndrian in Auberdine. Once done curing pop to Moonglade to see Dendrite Starbreeze.

If you are doing this the proper way - be warned. If the deer wanders out of range while you are casting a spell, it still uses a charge. Since there are only 10 charges on the salve, and you CAN'T get another one, even one muckup means you have to abandon the quest and start again.

i found out by accident that if you use entangling vines to hold the deer still...you usually get credit for 2 for each one you cure )

Actually you need to cure 5 deer. because when you've cured a deer and than cast a moonfire you'll get 2 times "Cured deer (8/10) Cured deer (9/10)" Very funny :P

They are all over the place. Kinda annoying to find though. You can ask your hunter friend to track them for you if you like.
And I wouldn't use entangling roots to hold the deers still, it can easily kill them since they only have 20 hp.

Just to confirm that casting Entangling Roots (Rank 1) on the deer before using the salve still results in 2 deers cured in Classic
