Target: Gahrron's Withering

Go to Gahrron's Withering in Western Plaguelands to locate and defeat the Cauldron Lord present there, and use its key to gain access to the cauldron. You must have the Empty Gahrron's Withering Bottle with you to secure a sample of the poisons used inside the cauldron.

Description

The last cauldron that remains is located on a farm now called Gahrron's Withering. It is guarded by some of the Scourge's tougher minions - specifically, wraiths and ghosts. They are not to be trifled with, <name>.

Gahrron's Withering is far to the east of the Bulwark, close to where the Eastern Plaguelands begin; again, eliminate the cauldron lord present there for its key. Here is your empty sample bottle; bring it to me filled. May the shadows cloak you in safety for this dangerous mission, <class>.

Approx. 61,57 in Western Plaguelands. Might have to kill a few mobs around the cauldron for the Cauldron Lord to spawn. Lord was lvl 58 for me and has nasty annoying spells like Silence and some other ability that interrupts you and throws you into the air. He also brought another mob with him when I pulled him.

This is a nightmare for a lvl 54 Shadow Priest like me cause they are pretty shadow resistant and are immune to fear.

Horde - When you turn this quest in, make sure you go visit High Executionor Derrington on the other side of the road. He'll have a new quest called "Mission Accomplished!", which gives a nice 9300 exp, a choice of two fairly nice swords, and two fat increases to Argent Dawn reputation.

This quest is not too hard, most are single pulls, you will have to watch out for the cauldron lord's cast. Also melee's might have some trouble with this. If you die, you will probably have respawns.

Quest was not bugged on 3/23/05.&nbsp You have to approach the cauldrons from the front.&nbsp Even then you have to be just the right distance, not too close and not too far.&nbsp

I hate these quests. I did the Gahrron's one tonight and a full group of people ran up on me and tagged the cauldron king the second he spawned with aoe... beat me since my weapon is so slow. I was pissed. Happens every time.

im lvl 51 warrior and i do it with a 60 warrior we done it all very fast so easy no respawn problems...

There are 4 huge farms along the road in WPL.&nbsp There's a gigantic smoke-belching cauldron in the middle of each farm.&nbsp You do them in order from easiest (in the west, where you enter the zone) to hardest (in the east, where you go to the next harder zone).

Worked fine for me for all 4 cauldrons. Was a nice walkthrough at lvl 60, I kinda forgot the whole plagueland things when leveling :)

I got all the way up to the cauldron and couldn't use my bottle.&nbsp I think it's bugged because I can't even move the bottle into a slot on my action bar. And those a-holes kept mana draining me and they spawn so freaking fast, it's incredibly annoying. 7/28/05

They key will not drop off the Couldron Lord.&nbsp Yes I am killing the right guy (others in my party are getting it) and No I don't already have the key.

Its screwed up.

Is this quest even worth doing?&nbsp Is it only an Experience reward?

And I must say it is pretty hard, especially without food and water. I have to expend pretty much most of my mana if I'm fighting a 58 mob, right now just standing there regenning, hoping that no respawns pop up...

I'm a 54, BE, frost mage and I didn't die once while soloing this quest line. You guys got me all scared and made me think that I couldn't do this at all. But seriously? This was the easiest quest line I've ever done. :) I really don't know what you guys are talking about..

Tauren Arms/Fury warrior lvl 57
Died 5 times to get to the lord at all, and when killed the lord, was killed by the add.
Mobs there are lvl 58 with worse curses there is strengh and stamina reduction by 43 and Cripple time between attacks by 100% strengh by 50% you left with waiting for a swing and looking at your live goes by.

the worse quest i did, only good patiance will help you through.

Did this as a level 54 pure frost mage. It is far easier to go at this from the back of the farm (coords: 63, 60.) There is a group of wailing death and haunting visions at the southern most tip of the farm. Mind your left side as the coords are just right of that tip. I killed about 6 or so mobs and then conjured my water ele, had him attack the cauldron lord and used arcane on him instead of frost (he resisted my first two frost bolts.) Only pulled one add with him. Had one more mob to kill after them, then got the cauldron sample and left.

soloed as a 53 arms/fury tauren warrior...pretty easy,only had to kill 2 creatures to get to him who i pulled with a a bullet...charge.rend.demorazlizing shout,battle shout,multiple heroic strike,mortal strikes and execute :)
