Find the Wooden Key and a piece of Dartol's Rod before returning to Shael'dryn at the moonwell.

Description

I wish your tidings were better.

Raene is correct, I know about Dartol's creation and the treants in the area--at least I did once. They've become corrupted now, their nature twisted.

If your goal is to find the next piece of the rod, then you'll have to find the key to open the chest it's in.

The wooden key is on one of the treants northeast of here, near Felwood. Once you have it, look for a small glade west of the road near the Felwood border... the chest should be hidden around there.

You can get a key drop from either the Crazed or Withered Ancients (the tree dudes) that surround the location of the chest.
Chest is, as stated, at location 54,35 on a short column.
Once you get the chest open, Shael'dryn is back in moonwell at 53,46.
Super easy for the exp.

As you run north on the road to Felwood, you will see fallen marble pillars on the left just before the landscape changes.

If you get to the red sandstone rock on the east (right) side of the road you are too far. Back up about 25 steps turn west. This is a dirt path toward some marble pillars.

As Teressa said, the chest is on a square marble post about waist high.

IF you go down the road that leads to felwood right along the left side or the right side of the road at cords 56,34 you will have to kill the Withered Ancients and one of them will drop the key.&nbsp They are levels 27 and 28 as of what I saw.&nbsp I am a 25 Rouge and killed them fine.&nbsp The box is located exactly at 54,34. there are a bunch of white broken pillars and that is what it is sitting behind a small mountain be carefull there is usually a withered ancient on to of the mountain so make sure it does not see you.&nbsp OTher than that you are gold! have fun and good luck!

The treants, as our peroxided poolgirl calls them, are actually the tree-looking ancients (level 26 & 27) that roam around the area.
It only took killing about 3 or 4 of them for me to get the key from one.
As far as the location of the box, you should find a nearby area on the west with broken roman-looking pillars. Head toward them while being cautious of the ancient perching on the small hill on the right.
Stand in the middle of the pillars and turn left.
You should see the chest sitting on one of the pillars.

Treants (the tree looking dudes) start at 59,41 and go the whole way up towards border.&nbsp Drop rate varys mine was around 10 kills an got the key.&nbsp The chest is at 54,35 a little up on hill.

The quest is really simple if you read the instructions. u go north east of her. you kill the treants (northeast) and its an easy drop to get the key i only killed one to get it.&nbsp Then it says go north west from there near the felwood border and find the box. it's easy. but if you still dont get it. when u go north west towards the fellwood border on your left will be some broken white pillers. walk to the left of those and the box is right there

I was in the hidden vale killing the werewolf looking guys trying to find the chest and couldn't find it, then I saved a rogue who was getting eaten by 2 of them, so I asked him about the chest and of course it wasnt in the hidden vale, but about ENE of the entrance to the hidden vale, so if you see the cave entrance to the hidden vale look to the ENE of the entrance as someone posted earlier it isn't in the hills it is next to them though. PITA can't just do a loc and post it

She is at the moonwell east of Iris Lake.&nbsp Follow the road east out of Astrannar to coordinates 50,58 (small ruins located there).&nbsp Turn north (left) and travel up the hill quite a distance.&nbsp Eventually you will see stone lamps on the ground and lining a trail that leads to the moon well where Shael is located.&nbsp Many level 21 bears along the entire route.

I found the undiscovered part by accident when I was trying to find the chest.&nbsp On the west side of the road to Felwood, near the border there is a small path (barely visible on the minimap).&nbsp The path leads up a hill with a bunch of worgen on it, and to a cave.&nbsp Once you hit the top of the path, the portion should be visible on the map.

BTW thanks for all the directions, found the key and the chest with almost no problems. :)

You definetly do not need to uncover the map for the area this quest features around, much to the contradiction of several posts on here. I still have not uncovered the area, but am currently on my way back to hand this in...so urban myth im afraid.

Nice one on the broken-pillars locative reference for those of us who dont use mods and thus cant use co-ords. Aprreciated.

Well it's not a bug after all.. the Moonwell is really well hidden on a "path" that runs on the eastern side of Iris Lake: at some point you will see little lanterns: follow those and that's where she is.. it took me days and ingame help to find her, even with the posts here.. sigh.. good luck.

It took me a while to try and figure out where the heck this box was located.&nbsp I tried to use my Find Treasure, but it couldn't locate the box.&nbsp You just have to go North untill you come up to a bunch of trees with green roots going upwards from the base.&nbsp From there turn left & bang!&nbsp You got the box...

Ok it is around the border of felwood. Just as the trees seem to dull down and everything seems to be dull STOP on the left there is 3 pillers. There is a little opening by there pillars in that small opening is the chest.To get the key i would just kill the anicents around there.

For those of you without cords, head down the main path where you hit the road to head north towards raynewood retreat.&nbsp Go past that, keep heading north towards the border that whole area you will see the treants walking around all over that whole place.&nbsp as for the chest its on the left hand side of the road in a part of the hills you can't miss it:)

Quest works fine on Ursin. Shael'dryn, or maybe the moonwell, seems to be a horde target. I couldn't find a quest, but I've run into horde there several times. I imagine if I came across a lonely hostile far from interference, I might wonder what drops she would have, or I might kill her and lie in wait to see what hapless adventurer might be coming to visit. Try waiting for her to respawn.

Thank you everyone! pillars were very helpful indeed, as I don't do coordinates either and note: "behind" the pillar..I did get the key on my second treant and loved the way they die.. very cool!Don't go into Felwood though, like I did, you wil be killed instantly.. hehe.

that all chain was the easiest for me since all you have to do is killing some 24 'trees' and 21s and some murlocs. maybe the end was a bit hard but u could get help for that one... a very beautiful quest chain for easy xp. every1 should do it!

if u have the coordinates on your map it gets much easier. finished the all chain in an hour as a lvl 28 druid. only got help at the last part...

So many ppl just blabbed on, we know the coords... I've just done this quest for the third time. With the key. I kill the same one each time. He's the wither one North. He's own his own. He made a mistake and needed the key again and he dropped it for the third time. For the box. Behind the lil hill. For the person to hand it in. Doesn't anyone remember the previous quest. It tells you where to go. When you get key. Go back towards Astranaar. You'll see a sitting area. there's a chair on the left with an open book on it. Head Nth there and follow the path with lamps. she's at the end. When I did this quest for the second time I forgot about the instructions and went for some on thottbot. Someone saying East of Pool...so bad. I went about Astranaar and went up a valley to the pool and ended up over the mountains to find her. Such a stupid idea.

Is the quest bugged? I have attempted 4 times to retrieve the next piece of the rod and each time the box is empty. I get another wooden key and the same thing happens. The box opens and there is nothing there. What am I missing here? I have space in my bags for the item too!

I found the wooden key in a Withered Ancient I think its a random drop

The chest is west of the road near the Felwood border. It is back in a little ways and sits on top of a white pillar about the height of a gnome. You do not have to go up into the mountains or hills to find it so if you start going up a large hill you're in the wrong spot. Can't really think of how to describe it better than that, sorry.

i believe you are mixing this quest up with another, i got the key from a crazed ancient (first kill) and went to the box at 54, 35 and opened it, no contact with any slimes.
