Echeyakee

Bring Echeyakee's Hide to Sergra Darkthorn at the Crossroads.
Echeyakee's Hide
Provided Item:
Horn of Echeyakee

Description

Whitemist, Echeyakee in the Tauren tongue, is the king of the savannah cats. He hunts with such stealth, they say he's like a thin, white mist on the earth. And he kills so fast his prey have no time for fear, or pain.

The Tauren say he is both mercy and death.

You will learn if that's true, for I now set you on the path to hunt Echeyakee. His lair is northeast of the Crossroads, among the bones of giant Kodo

Go. Blow this horn when you reach his lair. Blow the horn, and he will come.

If you travel east of Grol'dom farm, you have to remain close to the mountain side.&nbsp As you progress eastward you will come across a tower.&nbsp Travel north&nbsp from the tower along the mountain side.&nbsp You will come across two Kodo ribcages that are seperated by a small clearing.&nbsp Savannah Huntresses prowl around it so you must first clear the area of these cats.&nbsp They respawn fast so don't bother skinning them (you can come back to that after you bag Eckeyakee).&nbsp

Once the coast is clear, stand in between the Kodo rib cages and blow the horn.&nbsp Eckeyakee will charge you.&nbsp As soon as this happens start back tracking, step back far enough to avoid aggroing respawning Savanna Huntress'.&nbsp I am a level 14 warrior and was able to kill Eckeyakee, for my trouble I received the Bloodspattered Shield of the Tiger (nice bonus).&nbsp

I'm an alliance night elf hunter. I had made the trip to Barrens during my early levels specifically to tame Humar (black lion), since I wanted a rare pet that I could level all the way to 60 and be proud of it.

Then I found out everyone and their mother had one since it was easy to locate and tame.

Much to my dismay, I kept him regardless, since he was cool to look at anyways. But when I heard about Echeyakee and his glorious white coat, I had to have him. Him being restricted to horde only quests made him more appealing and rare.

So I camped that spot for a day. Finally I see a level 16 rogue come by and spawn Echeyakee. I rush over and try to gank the poor guy (I'm a carebear usually)... And realize Barrens is horde territory. He wasn't PvP flagged... Oops.

I wait for the next guy, and try to train some mobs on him after he spawns the lion. No good, they always manage to kill him before going down themselves.

I try to tame while he is being killed. The tame action is broken off once the horde hit Echeyakee.

In the end, I tamed one of the regular lions around the area, call it "HelpTameEch", and then immediately ask a hordy who's about to spawn Echeyakee to /wait, /point at my substitute pet, and then /beg.

Finally a mage cooperated. He even sheeped him for me while I tamed :D

I love you mage!

If the Mob is already summoned by some else, dont use your horn or u will loose it, and u will have to re take the Q

first, the horn is one-use. You blow it, it disappears. If you don't get the loot then, you have to abandon the quest and go get it again.

second, Echeyakee will go after the closest player, regardless of who summoned him. Just as i summoned him, an undead player ran across the area, and Echeyakee attacked that one instead. So i got nothing, the horn disappeared, Echeyakee never respawned (and his body never disappeared), so i had to abandon quest and run back to get it again. i must've waited nearly half-an-hour.

I only got 1450 exp for the quest, and due to loot lag I had to kill it 3 times lol. was a very easy kill at 18 even with all the links, the other lions there seem to respawn quite quickly and they love to link with echeyakee.

How about you be grateful that we're posting the locations. The place is not hard to find for god's sake, it's common sense, and read the quest descriptions!

It's NORTH-EAST of the Grolbol' Farm, go to the farm, then run NORTH-EAST behind the mountain, you will see a pile of HUGE BONES (hence the KODO BONES in the quest descriptions). Get to the bones, kill the surrounding beasts, use your horns then kill the big guy. Simple...

I can simply post the coordinates, but that will be too confusing since there are 10x coordinates here.

"Thou shalt read the quest descriptions!"

To get to his lair, go north along Gold Road, till you hit the 'Y' in the road. There's a farm there, and a hill north of that. The lair is on the north side of the holl, at some Kodo bones.

Easy quest....go to Grol'dom Farm and head north east a bit until you get to the pile of animal bones.....then go blow your horn. Be aware that area is littered with Huntresses.

Take the road north out of The Crossroads, you will come to a fork in the road, head north east at this fork, bisecting it.&nbsp You will come to a mountain.&nbsp On the north-east side/corner of this mountain you will find two large kodo bones, stand between them, blow the horn and a level 16 lion will attack you, take his hide back to the crossroads, et. voila!

Let's just say I had a terrible time trying to tame. The first time some night elf hunter took it from me and tried to tame (and I was so ticked off I killed the NE). Then Eche killed me... finally I got a 41 hunter to help me out but I still failed at taming TWICE before finally getting him. Each time I failed I had to run back and re-get the quest. But now I have my pet.

It isn't a bad pet, very pretty too. I have to actually do the quest now though.

Not quite hard one, take the road leading north of crossroads, then turn right and go behind the Grol'dom farm and you'll see a bunch of bones, stand near the bones and blow the horn. The lion will come alone and you wont aggro the other lions if you are far away from em'...... as in you dont aggro just cuz you summoned the boss.

he's at 55,18 there are 2 huntress lion and they respawn very fast.. so kill only 1 of them (because if u kill the 2 lions the respawn together in 5 or 6 sec) then use the horn and pull echeyakee away from the lions, then kill him... its a good pet for hunter..
its at lvl 16 non elite... at the place u can see animals bones---> there u can use the horn to summon the cat

If your in a group and the other person uses his horn then you can actually keep your horn after the quest is over, good if you didn't tame him the frist time or if you just want to kill him agin.(Also if you have a friend who is an Ally friend who wants this beauty. :D Happy Hunting!

i discovered that when he spawns, he goes for the nearest, not the one who called him. Just as i blew the horn, an undead player ran across the bones Echeyakee went after that one. So i got nothing from killing him (the undead ran on and ignored the cat), and *the horn had disappeared*. So i waited a very long time hoping he would re-spawn, but he never did and his body never went away. Had to abandon the quest and go get it again. 8(

So make sure you are the only one around (if you're soloing it) when you blow the horn! And the horn will disappear after one use!

If you are Alliance, you will need to make arrangements with someone on the horde side first.

This cat is part of a horde quest chain, and ONLY spawns when someone in the Horde side actually tries to complete the quest.
So, unless your horde "friend" starts the quest and before completing it -killing the cat- stops, and allows you to tame the cat.......dont do it! You will loose a lot of time.

BTW coords are 55,17 in the Barrens.

Okay, people on Barrens chat who can't be bothered to read quest descriptions, this one is for you:

The pile of bones is north-northeast of the Crossroads, on the west side of the mountain. Blow the horn (BE SURE HE HASN'T ALREADY BEEN SUMMONED) and there he is.
